CKM-F8P POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE
This document provides hardware installation and setup instructions for the
CKM-F8P power distribution module. This document consists of the following
sections:
•General Information on page 1
•Mounting Information on page 3
•Wiring Information on page 4
•Specifications on page 7
GENERAL INFORMATION
The CKM-F8P power distribution module provides eight zones of fused or
PTC-protected power distribution with Fire Alarm Interface (FAI) control. The
CKM-F8P accepts one or two DC power inputs, either of which are available
on any output zone. Each output can be enabled for FAI, disabled for FAI, or set
for continuous output.

Component Description
FlexIO Connectors These connectors pass the FAI and Fault signals to and from the
CKM-F8P board and pass the FlexIO bus on to other accessory
boards in the system.
B1 Connectors (J1
and J4)
Faston connectors for the B1 voltage bus in the system.
The voltage on the B1 bus comes from the DC1 Faston connector
of a power supply. This voltage will be directed to any outputs
whose output selection jumper is set to one of the B1 positions.
B2 Connectors (J3
and J5)
Use these Faston connectors for the B2 voltage bus in the system.
The voltage on the B2 bus comes from the DC1 Faston connector
of the power supply. This voltage will be directed to any outputs
whose output selection jumper is set to the B2 position. If you are
using the CKM-F8P in a single voltage system, leave these Faston
connectors unused.
Output Selection
Jumpers (JP1 –
JP8)
Output selection jumpers select the voltage bus input for the output
and the FAI operation for the zone. Jumper numbers correspond
with the zone number (for example, JP1 is the jumper for OUT1).
Possible settings are as follows:
• Pos. 1 (Top) - Continuous output of B1 voltage
• Pos. 2 B1 - Enables voltage on FAI
• Pos. 3 B1 - Disables voltage on FAI
• Pos. 4 - Constant output of B2 voltage
• Pos. 5 B2 - Enables voltage on FAI
• Pos. 6 (Bot.) B2 - Disables voltage on FAI
• Removed - Disables output
B2 LED (D4) –
Green
The B2 LED lights when voltage is available on the B2 bus.
Note: This LED does not light in a single voltage system.
B1 LED
(D3) – Green
The B1 LED lights when voltage is available on the B1 bus.

MOUNTING INFORMATION
Mount the CKM-F8P board to an enclosure using the four snap-in standoffs
supplied.
To mount the CKM-F8P board to an enclosure:
1. Locate the appropriate mounting holes in the enclosure and snap the
standoffs into the holes.
2. Align the board mounting holes with the standoffs and snap the board
onto the standoffs. Be sure the board is properly oriented.

BR Connectors
(J3 and J6)
The DC Common bus in the system. All boards in the system must
have their BR Faston connectors wired together for proper
operation (except for between the DC and AC sections of an FPX
hybrid system).
Zone Outputs
(Out1 – Out8)
These are zone output terminal strips are removable and accept
wire sizes from AWG14 to AWG22. The terminals are labeled on
the PC board underneath the terminal strip.
Any locking device shall be configured for fail safe operation upon
occurrence of an alarm.
FAI LED
(D11) – Red
The FAI LED lights when FAI is active and an FAI input signal is
received from the FPO power supply.
Optional Output
Fuses (F1 – F8)
When using the PTC version of the CKM-F8P, the fuse will be
replaced with a soldered-in PTC.

WIRING INFORMATION
This section covers the following:
•Connecting the CKM-F8P Power Distribution Module
•Dual Voltage using Two Power Supplies with Eight Zones of FAI
Controllable Distribution
•Specifications
Connecting the CKM-F8P Power Distribution Module
Each of the B1, B2, BR, and FlexIO buses has two connectors. You can
use these connectors interchangeably.
For example, FlexIO from the power supply may be connected to either
of the CKM-F8P’s FlexIO connectors, the Main DC voltage source may
connect to either B1 terminal, and so on.

WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock.
Remove all AC and battery power from the system before adding
or replacing a CKM-F8P module. Contact with components
carrying hazardous voltage can cause electric shock and may
result in severe personal injury or death.

Single Voltage with Eight Zones of FAI Controllable Distribution
In this application, each zone output of the CKM-F8P may be set to
provide 24 V of continuous output, 24 V enabled for FAI, or 24 V
disabled for FAI. Because this is a single voltage system, only jumper
positions 1-3 are valid. FAI control on the CKM-F8P is achieved by
opening the NC contact on the power supply’s FAI input.

6
Dual Voltage using Two Power Supplies with Eight Zones of FAI
Controllable Distribution
In this application, each zone output of the CKM-F8P may be set to
provide 24 V of continuous output, enable on FAI, or disable on FAI. FAI
control on the CKM-F8P is achieved by opening the NC contact on the
power supply’s FAI input.
