CAUTION :

TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR SHOCK HAZARD, REFER INSTALLATION OF THIS

BOARD TO QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL.

Before installation

Check that the power of the AJ-DE77, AJ-DE77H or AJ-DE77D (hereafter referred to as the “Quick

Cutter” ) is OFF.

Remove the four screws securing the top panel of the

Quick Cutter, then remove the panel.

Installation

While referring to the figure on the right, first

disassemble the accessory terminal board, and then

use two screws to secure the board to the right side

of the jack panel and two screws to secure the blank

panel on the left side.

(In the case of the AJ-DE77D, the blank panel is not

attached because the SDI terminal board is already in

place on the left side.)

After installation, the panels should appear as shown

in the figure below.

Connect the red coaxial cable provided with the

board to the SDTI terminal board OUT and the black

coaxial cable to the SDTI terminal board IN.

After installation

After threading the coaxial cables connected to the terminal board

through points 1and 2as shown at right, replace the jack panel

on the main unit.

(AJ-DE77 only)

Remove the two screws and two hexagonal bolts of the AV

interface connector at the bottom rear of the Quick Cutter and

remove the TRV interface board together with its metal clamp.

Installation

(AJ-DE77 only)

Remove the four screws securing the TRV interface board and metal clamp,

and replace the board with the accessory TRV interface board, then use the

four screws to secure the metal clamp.

(AJ-DE77 only)

Use two screws and two bolts to secure the metal clamp, which was

attached to the TRV interface board, to the Quick Cutter unit.

Jumper setting diagram Coaxial cable connection diagram

After setting NTSC or PAL for the P4 pin of the accessory SDTI board as shown in the jumper setting

diagram, refer to the coaxial cable connection diagram and connect the coaxial cables. The connections

with the board should be made in the following order:

1Connect the coaxial cable (black) which was connected in step 7 to the S_IN1 connector on the SDTI

card provided with the unit.

2 Connect the coaxial cable (red) which was connected in step 7 to the S_OUT2 connector on the SDTI

board.

3 Connect the coaxial cable (yellow) provided with the unit to the REF_IN connector on the SDTI board.

Remove the 20-pin remote cable shown at right

from the Remote I/O board connector followed by

the 3 screws, then remove the board metal clamp

from the Quick Cutter unit.

(For AJ-DE77H and AJ-DE77D, also remove the 2

screws and the fan as shown in the diagram at

right. It is not necessary to remove the fan’s power

cable.)

Installation

Remove the cable and screw shown in the diagram at

right, then remove the X4PCI board from the slot.

Insert the accessory SDTI board into the slot which had

accommodated the X4PCI board, secure it using the

screw, and connect the cable that was disconnected

from the X4PCI board to the connector of the SDTI

board.

Connect one end of the coaxial cable (yellow), which was

connected in step 11, to the J7 connector on the TRV

interface board.

Replace the board metal clamp (and the fan for AJ-DE77H and AJ-DE77D) removed in step 12 and

secure it with the 3 screws.

Connect the 20-pin remote cable removed in step 12 to the Remote I/O board connector.

Replace the two ROMs (IC2 and IC702) from the VTR units F2 board with the ROMs provided with the

board.

Refer to the figure of the circuit board below to ensure that the ROMs are installed in the correct

direction.

Replace the ROM (IC235) from the VTR unit's F1 board with the ROM provided with the board.

Refer to the figure of the circuit board below to ensure that the ROM is installed in the correct direction.

Remove the 4 screws shown in the diagram at

right and the right metal fitting grip of the

Quick Cutter unit, then remove the F1 and F2

boards of the VTR unit.

Return the F1 and F2 boards removed in step 16 to their original positions, and use the four screws to

secure the right metal fitting grip which was removed in step 16 to the Quick Cutter unit. Secure the side

panels and the top panel using the screws by performing steps 2 and 3 in their reverse order.

Precautions for SDTI use

Specifications

≥Before handling the interface board and its ROMs, be absolutely sure to attach a grounding strap.

≥Recording operations cannot be performed unless the SDTI input signals are DVCPRO (25

Mbps) format 4x or 1x transfer signals.

≥Recording operations can be performed only when the video, audio and time code data of the

SDTI signals are all regular data in compliance with the DVCPRO (25 Mbps) format.

≥Before use, supply the external reference signal to the reference input connector on the Quick

Cutter unit.

≥When inserting or ejecting a tape from the Quick Cutter equipped VTR, there will be some noise

from the SDTI analog monitor output screen.

≥When using this interface board, be absolutely sure to read the instructions for Quick Cutter

application Ver 3.0 as well.

≥This interface board can be operated with the Quick Cutter Ver 3.0 or later.

However, since it may be necessary to update the version of the software program for the VTR

which contains Quick Cutter, consult your dealer.
