2 Installing the Device
The S890H should be installed near indoor Wi-Fi 6 APs based on cable routes.
WARNING
● The S890H must be installed in an area with restricted access, for example, on
a ceiling buckle tile or at least 2.5 m above a oor. Only professional personnel
are allowed to operate and maintain the S890H.
● Before the installation, take ESD protection measures, for example, wear ESD
gloves or an ESD wrist strap.
● When inserting or removing a ber, do not look into the optical port without
eye protection.
● When inserting a ber, ensure that the end face of the ber is clean.
Installation Preparations
The S890H must be used with the Huawei OptiXaccess S1016 power module and
indoor Wi-Fi 6 AP. Before installation, ensure that the Huawei OptiXaccess S1016
power module, indoor Wi-Fi 6 AP, photoelectric composite cable, network cable,
and related installation tools are available.

● Before installing the device, ensure that the following tools are available: ESD wrist
strap, ESD gloves, and ESD bag. For details about the tools required for installing an AP,
see the AP installation guide.
● If an optical port is exposed to air for a long time, the performance of the device
deteriorates. Therefore, connect a ber to the optical port within 20 minutes after
removing the dustproof cap.
● The optical port of the S890H supports SC/UPC connectors.
● The S890H needs to work with the remote S1016 power module and Wi-Fi 6 AP. When
one end of the S890H is connected to a photoelectric composite cable, the S890H is not
running by default. The S890H can be started only after the XGE port is connected to a
network cable and the other end of the network cable is connected to an AP. For details
about the running status of the S890H, see the Indicator Description.
Determining the Installation Position
When connecting a cable to an indoor AP, install the S890H near the AP. The
S890H should be installed on a ceiling buckle tile or at least 2.5 m above the oor,
and should be at least 10 cm away from the AP edge and side wall. Do not install
it directly above an AP.
Installing the S890H
Step 1 When installing an indoor AP, secure the sheet metal mounting bracket, drill holes
near the mounting bracket, and route cables.

● The preceding gure is for reference only.
● For details about how to install an indoor AP, scan the QR code on the nameplate of the
AP to obtain the installation documentation.
● Indoor APs are usually installed in a ceiling or against a wall by using sheet metal
mounting brackets. The following describes how to install the S890H on the ceiling.
● If an AP is installed against a wall, you route a cable and place the S890H in the ceiling
to avoid hanging the device.
Step 2 Remove the dustproof cap from the optical port on the S890H, connect the pre-
deployed photoelectric composite cable to the optical port on the S890H, and
connect a network cable to the XGE port on the S890H.
CA UTION
● Photoelectric composite cables must be routed through metal pipes or buried in
a wall.
● During the construction, strictly follow the construction requirements of the
photoelectric composite cable.
● If the optical port of the device is exposed to the air for a long time, the
product performance deteriorates. Therefore, connect a ber within 20 minutes
after removing the dustproof cap.
Step 3 Route the connected S890H through the cable hole, place it in the ceiling, and
push it inwards away from the position directly above the AP along the cable
route until it is at least 10 cm away from the AP edge and side wall.
