Preface
These operating instructions contain all the information you need for commissioning and
operation of the SIMATIC Industrial Flat Panels (IFP) Basic.
It is intended both for programming and testing personnel who commission the device and
connect it with other units (automation systems, programming devices), as well as for service
and maintenance personnel who install add-ons or carry out fault/error analyses.
Basic knowledge required
A solid background in personal computers and Microsoft operating systems are required to
understand this manual. General knowledge in the field automation control engineering is
recommended.

of the document will be published in SIOS.
Conventions
In these operating instructions, the SIMATIC IFP Basic is also referred to as "IFP Basic" or
"device".
A touch device generally refers to a device with a touch screen, as opposed to a pure
"display device". Touch screen is the general term for a capacitive multi-touch screen and
resistive single touch screen.

At some places in these operating instructions, the general term "Windows Embedded
Standard" is used to refer to "Windows Embedded Standard 7" . "Windows 7" is used as an

SIMATIC IFP Basic are touch monitors suitable for industrial use with a brilliant TFT (Thin
Film Transistor) display which can be connected to all SIMATIC IPCs as well as almost all
generally available PCs.

Resistive single touch screen in sizes 12", 15", 19" and 22"
●Can be placed up to 5 m from the IPC
