CE Mark Warning
This is a Class B product. In a domestic environment, this product may
cause radio interference, in which case the user may be required to take
adequate measures.
FCC Part 68
This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC Rules. On the bottom of
this equipment is a label that contains the FCC Registration Number and
Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) for this equipment. You must provide
this information to the telephone company upon request.
The REN is useful to determine the quantity of devices you may connect to
the telephone line and still have all those devices ring when your number is
called. In most, but not all areas, the sum of the REN of all devices
connected to one line should not exceed five (5.0). To be certain of the
number of devices you may connect to your line, as determined by the
REN, you should contact your local telephone company to determine the
maximum REN for your calling area.
If the modem causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone
company may discontinue your service temporarily. If possible, they will
notify you in advance. But if advance notice isn'tpractical, you will be
notified as soon as possible. You will be advised of your right to file a
complaint with the FCC.
The telephone company may make changes in its facilities, equipment,
operations, or procedures that could affect the proper operation of your
equipment. If they do, you will be notified in advance to give you an
opportunity to maintain uninterrupted telephone service.
If you experience trouble with this modem, please contact your dealer for
repair/warranty information. The telephone company may ask you to
disconnect this equipment from the network until the problem has been
corrected or you are sure that the equipment is not malfunctioning.
This equipment may not be used on coin service provided by the
telephone company. Connection to party lines is subject to state tariffs.

FCC Part 15
The modem generates and uses radio frequency energy. If it is not
installed and used properly in strict accordance with the user's manual, it
may cause interference with radio and television reception. The modem
has been tested and found to comply with the limits for Class B computing
devices in accordance with the specifications in Subpart B, Part 15 of the
FCC regulations. These specifications are designed to provide reasonable
protection against such interference in a residential installation. However,
there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular
installation. FCC regulations require that shielded interface cables be used
with your modem.
If interference does occur, we suggest the following measures be taken to
rectify the problem:
1) Move the receiving antenna.
2) Move the modem away from the radio or TV.
3) Plug the modem into a different electrical outlet.
4) Discuss the problem with a qualified radio/TV technician.
CAUTION :
Changes or modifications not expresslyapproved by the party responsible
for compliance to the FCC Rules could void the user's authority to operate
this equipment.
Notes:
All equipment connected to this modem must use shielded cable as the
interconnectionmeans.
Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
(1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and
(2) This device must accept any interference received including
interference that may cause undesired operation.

Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1 Description:
SP3302Ais a USB controller-less ADSL modem for customer premises. As
such it provides all software modems’ advantages:
1. Cost. Software modems use the processing power of the host, whichis
allowed using software routines instead of hardware.
2. Flexibility. The fundamental algorithms of the modem are part of the
driver, which can easily be modified as any other software module.

1.3 LED Interface
There are four LED indicators on the front panel of your ADSL USB
modem as shown. In the schematic below each of which displays an
operational status.
ACT illuminated when the USB bus congests
LINK illuminated when the ADSL transceiver is in Showtime Mode
USB illuminated when data is received from the ADSL line
Power illuminated when the ADSL power on

Chapter 2 Installation
2.1Access to Control Panel
This section describes the root ofDeviceManagerand Control Panel.It
helps the following configuration.
2.1.1 Access to the Device Manager on Win2000 and WinXP
1. Right-click My Computericon and selectProperties.
2. As shown in the windowhereunder, select theHardware tab and click
Device Manager…

2.1.3 Access to the Control Panel on Win2000, Win98 and ME
1. ClickStart:

2.2Software Installation
1.Insert the installation CD into the CD drive,and begin the software setup.
(The Play module will guide you through the installation procedure)
2.Just plug the board on a USB port of the PC
3.Thefollowing window appears:
After a few seconds, the above dialog box disappears. The modem

installation has been successfully completed
2.3Communication Mode Settings
This sectiondescribes how to change the line modulation (G.lite, ANSI or
G.dmt) and how to update the configuration (RFC 1483 LLCSNAP, RFC
2364 PPP over ATM, …)
2.3.1 Change the line modulation: ANSI, G.dmt or G.lite
1. Go to the Device Manager.
2. Double click ADSL Modem
3. Double-click ADSL Modem USBAdapter
4. Select the ADSL tab as shown below:
5. Select Line Modulation: G.lite, ANSI, G.dmt or Multimode andclickOK.
6. The following window appears:
7.After few seconds, this dialog box disappears and yourLine
Modulationchange has been taken into account.

2.3.2 Change the encapsulation (RFC 1483 LLCSNAP, RFC 2364,...)
1. Go to Control Panel.
2. Double click ADSL icon.
3. Select theSetuptab as shown below
4. In Installed Service section, choose another encapsulation, andclick
Reinstall.
5. The following window appears:

6.After few seconds, this dialog box disappearsand your encapsulation
change has been taken into account.

Chapter 3ADSL Modem Information
Themanagement utilityprovides an easy wayto control the ADSL
connection and to check the performance of the modem.
3.1Access methods
-From ControlPanel,double-click theADSL icon.
-From the systemtray: double click the ADSL connectionicon as shown

3.2 ADSL modem information
3.2.1 Status
This page has theStart and Stop boxes which can easy control the
connection status. It recodes the connection including the information list
below:
-Modem State (idle, activating, handshaking, initializing or showtime)
-The last failureshows if a problem occurred
-The time has elapsed since the showtime establishment
-The actual bit rate

3.2.1 Line
TheLine tab gives theoperation data:
-The current line modulation: G.dmt, G.lite or Ansi.
-The connection performance

3.2.3 Errors
It shows FEC, CRC and HEC errors on interleaved or fast channel (ifthe
modemworksrespectively in interleaved or fast mode)
-The line parameters (capacity occupation, noise margin, attenuation
and output power)

3.2.4 Defects
System will detect the status of the item checked. It helps user monitoring
the connection.

3.2.5 Test
TheTesttab gives ATM maintenance indicators (OAM-F5) results.

3.2.6 Setup
TheSetup tab allows changing the encapsulation.Choose the region of
your country and clickReinstall box. System will configure the relative
parameters like the service provided by your ISP.
TheOptions help creating a short-cut on desktop for convenience
management. Check thebox and click OK to enable the feature.

3.2.7 Information
In the Information tab, you will findADSL Package Information andFar
End Modem Identification.

Chapter 4Network Settings
SP3302A supports various types of RFC connection modes including,
RFC 1483 bridged LLC SNAP RFC 1483 bridged VCMUX
RFC 1483 routed LLC SNAP RFC 1483 routed VCMUX
RFC 2364 PPP over ATM LLC RFC 2364 PPP over ATM VCMUX
RFC 2516 PPP over Ethernet LLC RFC 2225 Classical IP over ATM
RFC 2516 PPP over Ethernet VCMUX
TheADSLUtility hassome settings for the main ISP ofeachcountry in the
list. Choose the one suitable for your connection and clickReinstall box,
ADSL Utility will reconfigure the settings meeting your requirement. If there
is no list for your required please choose one of the four RFC settings
(RFC 1483, RFC 2225, RFC2364 or RFC 2516) then click Reinstall box to
enable it.
After that, you can find the item inNetwork Adapters has been switched
to one of the three, i.e.WAN/ATM/ADSL miniport, LAN/ATM/ADSL
miniport andATM/ADSL miniport.
