1. Introduction

After a sh rt presentati n f the system p ssibilities, this guide will describe all adjustments

and settings f the c nditi ner CDT-404-2.

With regard t installati n and wiring, please refer t the Electrical installati n manual

INSELE-CDT-404-2.

The CDT-404-2 c nditi ner is designed t c ntr l ne r tw 404 br ken t l detect rs.

“D uble directi n” means that in the same cycle the detect r can c ntr l by r tati n in ne

directi n and then in the ther directi n.

This system perf rms several c ntr ls during the cycle t ensure the c rrect functi ning f

the latter thr ugh ut its use.

The c nditi ner will make it p ssible t c ntr l the detect rs and als t carry ut c ntr ls

f different p siti ns.

The first c ntr l is:

Broken tool control (Control 1 and Control 2) : This c ntr l ensures the presence f the

t ls at each cycle. If the t l is br ken, the detect r will g further than the reference

p siti n f the t l and the c nditi ner will then trigger a "Br ken T l" alarm and st p the

machine.

The sec nd c ntr l is :

The presence o chips (Chips): This c ntr l all ws t detect any clusters f chips ar und the

t l. If the detect r can n t g t the t l reference p siti n due t the chips, the

c nditi ner triggers a "Chip" alarm different fr m that f "Br ken T l".

The third c ntr l is :

The return to Origin (Origin): This c ntr l c nsists in ensuring that the detect r has returned

t its starting p int at the end f the cycle.

If the needle is trapped by a p ssible element (lubricati n tube, passage f the needle

behind the t l, chips etc.) which will prevent its return, an alarm "Origin" will trigger and

st p the machine.

2. Identi ication o the conditioner

When y u turn n the p wer f r the first time, the f ll wing page appears n the t uch

screen:

The irst Step is to identi y the conditioner CDT-404-2.

Note: The blue light n the c nditi ner flashes: it means that it is n t rec gnized and can n t

be perated.

Flashing

blue light: the conditioner is not identified with the touch screen.

The detector cannot operate until the identification is made.

Fixed blue light: The conditioner is identified by the touch screen.

The detector can be operated and parameterized.

3. Parameterization o the detector

The second step is to parameterize the detector.

After the c nditi ner has been identified, the c ntr l page appears as bel w:

Here is the setting page f the detector - 1st Level:

Detector input number – Each detector

can be set differently.

This setting is present for each level.

Direction of rotation of the first control:

Clockwise or Anticlockwise

Control mode :

Presence of tool - Absence of part –

Presence/Absence – Absence/Presence

Number of control : 1 or 2 Lift allowing access to other levels of

parameterization.

Control mode :

The first m de "Presence o tool" w rks as f ll ws:

- The needle will t uch the t l that is present, the Good Control output (NO) cl ses and the

Shutdown Machine output (NC) remains cl sed, the next cycle c ntinues with ut st pping

the machine.

- The needle fails t feel the t l - the t l is br ken - the Good Control output (NO) remains

pen and the Shutdown Machine output (NC) pens, the machine st ps at the end f the

cycle.

The sec nd "Absence o Part" m de w rks as f ll ws:

- The needle fails t feel the w rkpiece - the part is missing - the Good Control output (NO)

cl ses and the Shutdown Machine output (NC) remains cl sed, the next cycle c ntinues

with ut st pping the machine.

- The needle will t uch the part that is present, the Good Control output (NO) stays pen

and the Shutdown Machine output (NC) pens, the machine st ps at the end f the cycle.

The ther 2 c ntr l m des – Presence/Absence et Absence/Presence – can be used nly if

there are 2 c ntr ls (2 in the parameter « Number o control »)

The Presence/Absence m de all ws y u c mbine the first 2 m des presented ab ve,

namely Presence o tool and Absence o part. This m de is used in the case where it is

desired t c ntr l at the first c ntr l a t l presence; with a shutd wn machine in case f

br ken t l; and during the sec nd c ntr l an absence f part; with a shutd wn machine in

case f presence f part.

The Absence/Presence m de all ws y u c mbine the first 2 m des presented ab ve, namely

Presence o tool and Absence o part. This m de is used in the case where it is desired t

c ntr l at the first c ntr l an absence f part; with a shutd wn machine in case f part

presence; and during the sec nd c ntr l a presence f t l; with a shutd wn machine in

case f br ken t l.

Control :

When 2 c ntr ls are set, it is p ssible t perf rm them in 2 ways : Associated and

Dissociated.

The Associated parameter all ws the c ntr ls t be c ntinu usly, ne after the ther, fr m

the t p c ntr l. At the t p c ntr l, the detect r g es t the left n the first t l and then

with ut st pping by right n the sec nd t l t eventually return t the rigin.

The Dissociated parameter all ws at the t p c ntr l t perf rm the first c ntr l n the left

and return t the rigin t wait a sec nd t p c ntr l that will make the sec nd c ntr l n

the right with return t the rigin at the end.

Note : This parameter nly appears if the « Number o control » parameter is 2.

Number o control :

It is p ssible t p siti n the detect r between tw t ls which have substantially the same

p siti n (same t l exit length) and t carry ut the c ntr l f the first t l in ne directi n

and the c ntr l f the sec nd t l in the ther directi n.

The ch ice f the number f c ntr l may be 1 r 2

Note: In the case f a parameterizati n f 2 c ntr ls, the "directi n f r tati n" t be

specified in the ab ve parameter defines the directi n f the first c ntr l.

Here is the setting page f the detector – 2nd Level:

Micro Tool :

Micr drill m de all ws y u t c ntr l t ls with a minimum diameter f 0.25mm. By

activating this m de by YES, the detect r will reduce its speed and t rque when the needle

reaches the t l.

The detect r set t NO can detect a t l f a minimum f 0.5mm with ut breaking it

Tolerance level :

This parameter is used t adjust the degree value f the triggering f alarms. This parameter

affects the Control 1, Control 2 and Chip nly alarms, but n t the Origin alarm. The ch ice f

the level is made using a dr p-d wn list.

Position :

The dr p-d wn list all ws y u t define where the detect r was p siti ned. This p siti n

will then be repeated n the c ntr l page in rder t facilitate the identificati n f the

detect r wh se alarm has triggered. The inf rmati n in this parameter is pti nal
