1Configuration documentation

This document describes the various service configurations and related parameters to alarm

systems targeted to premises equipped with Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) Call Servers

infrastructure, DECT radio coverage via Base Stations, DECT wireless handsets, associated with an

alarm server or not.

1.1 Introduction

In the current world, Isolated Worker protection is becoming more and more a concern inside

companies and utilities organizations. Therefore, the end user is able to trigger an alarm following

any unexpected event using the Alarm button.

Additionally, this alarm feature shall come with localization data, so that First Aid can be sent to

the right location within the shortest delay.

A site infrastructure system server shall also monitor that all Radio Base stations are working

correctly and report any defect, so that all isolated workers working on site remain under system

coverage and are able to trigger an alarm when an incident occurs. This is currently achieved by

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise call servers.

If the wireless DECT handset goes out of coverage, it will alert the user that it is not possible to

ensure this service by an audible audio signal (loud beeps) if coverage warning setting is enabled

(ON).

1.2 Overall solution architecture

1.2.1 Alarm servers

When there is an alarm server, additional digits are sent containing data that the alarm server

can process to provide specific features.

ALE DECT handsets can trigger an alarm and also receive a notification. Alarm servers collect

and aggregate alarms from different subsystems including DECT handsets with lone worker

protection capability, and then notify, in real time, the most appropriate person to respond to

the situation.

1.2.2 Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise alarm server: OpenTouch Notification Service

The ALE OpenTouch Notification Service (OTNS) offers a native and optimized integration with

the ALE Call Servers and all ALE wired and wireless sets, including DECT handsets with lone

worker protection function.

Following is an example of such an architecture using the OpenTouch Notification Service.

The OTNS server interacts with the call server with signaling links and Voice links over an IP

connection. It is able to make or receive call to any fixed or wireless sets attached to the call

server.

•The OTNS server can receive or send alarms using the ALE ABC-F Protocol on IP with the

OmniPCX Enterprise, offering unique features such as long text messages of 40 characters

instead of 16 to convey richer alarm information, priority call feature or loudspeaker

announcement

•The OTNS server can also receive or send alarms from/to an OmniPCX Office RCE over a SIP

trunk, and also supports all ALE sets.

•OTNS interconnects with multiple alarm and notification subsystems thanks to its

compatibility with numerous industry standards, protocols and interfaces (ESPA/TAP, dry

contacts i.e. electric relays, DTMF, email, SMS, SNMP, KNX, social media, …)

•It also offers a set of applications to monitor alarms in real time (Real-Time Console), to

locate the origin of an alarm on a map (Graphical Floor Plan) and to generate reports

(Historical reporting) , all well fitting for the management of features such as isolated

worker protection.

•In addition to the support of wireless sets, OTNS offers several mobile applications for

smartphones and tablets over Wi-Fi and 3G/4G, allowing to generate alarms, receive

notifications as well as monitor alarms and manage their urgency.

1.2.3 Third party alarm server architecture –example of New Voice Mobicall alarm server

Alarm processing will be managed together by the Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise call server and

third party alarm servers. Following is an example of such architecture using the New Voice

Mobicall alarm server.

The Mobicall server interacts with the call server with signaling links and Voice links. It is able

to make or receive call to any fixed or wireless sets attached to the Call server.

The Mobicall server can receive Alarms using the Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Notification Server

(NS) Protocol (UDP & TCP/IP).

It can receive Alarms from multiples sources, such as:

ESPA 4.4.4: a serial protocol intended for the interconnection of paging equipment with

telephone exchanges or computer systems.

Connection & Alarm information forward over CSTA (identical to NS)

Sending alarms over voice links T0, T2, H.323, SIP etc. to address phones without display,

phones in multi-line mode, external fix and GSM phones.

Support of multi-connections to a multi –node A4400 and OXE structure

1.2.4 Offered Alarm services

The Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise DECT system coupled to an alarm server offers functionalities such as

live calls, emergency calls, event keys, status calls, Mandown alarm, no movement alarm, shock

alarm and pull cord alarm.

Live signals are calls that are made automatically (every 90 seconds by default) by the

handset to the alarm server. The information sent to the alarm server allows the server to

confirm that the handset has coverage and is working.

Emergency calls are initiated by the user pressing and holding (or pressing twice) the

“Emergency call“ key.

Key event calls are also initiated by users when pressing particular keys on the numeric

keypad and also with the function keys F1/F2 (if “Key event” is activated and F1/F2 keys

has been programmed in the key settings). These are designed to notify the server that

certain tasks have been completed, for example, “room is ready“ in the case of a hotel

application.

Status calls are automatically established by the handset each time the handset is plugged

into or removed from the charger and each time the handset is switched on and off.

Mandown, no movement, shock and pull cord alarms are alarms triggered when the set

detects an abnormal situation.

Only emergency calls and event keys calls can be initiated by the user.

All these features must be activated and configured by the system administrator.

1.3 Feature configuration with alarm server

To access the configuration menus of the various features:

Access MENU.

Alarm Set.

Access to Alarm settings menu.

If configured. Enter device PIN code (The default is 0000).

Ok.

1.3.1 Alarm settings menu

This menu allows you to activate, deactivate and set parameters.

Mode:activate or deactivate the option.

Sett: set feature parameters.

Alarms Trigger:

The Wireless Handset is able to warn about a critical situation for isolated worker.

Emergency call: this menu allows to program the call number dialed in case of emergency

call. The emergency call is activated by using red button key (hold or twice) or OK key

(hold).

Mandown: this menu allows activation of the “Mandown“ alarm feature. This feature

allows triggering an alarm when the set detects a loss of verticality during a configurable

time delay.

No movement: this menu allows activation of the “No movement“ alarm feature. This

feature allows triggering an alarm when the set does not detect any movement during a

configurable time delay.

Shock: this menu allows activation of the “Shock“ alarm feature. This feature allows

triggering an alarm when the set detects an abnormal shock.

Pull cord: this menu allows the user to trigger an alarm by a single wide handset movement

that will disengage a part from the handset, the other part of the cord being attached to

the user clothes.

Delay time: this parameter is a time delay where the handset is in an alarm condition

before triggering the prealarm phase.

Prealarm time: this parameter defines the time delay of the prealarm. This prealarm phase

precedes the alarm triggering. A signal and specific display warns the user that an alarm is

going to be triggered. At this step, the user can stop the alarm process.

User delay: this parameter defines the time before the set can get in alarm condition after

the user stops an alarm process during the prealarm phase.

Inactive dialing time: this parameter defines the time before the set can get in alarm

condition after dialing a number is interrupted more than the inactive dialing time value.
