Chapter 1: Getting Started
Connecting Z-20
Connect the cables as shown below.
NOTE: If you have only one LAN connection, connect the Z-20 to the LAN connection,
then connect your computer to the Z-20. Doing this allows your Z-20 and computer to
share the LAN access.

Chapter 2: Using Z-20
Adjusting The Z-20 Camera
Before you start making video calls, be sure your picture is displayed properly:
1. Open the PRIVACY SHUTTER by turning the front ring of the camera.
2. Display your own picture by pressing the button.
3. Adjust your picture vertically by using the UP and DOWN key.
4. Adjust sharpness by turning the focus ring on the camera.

Operating the SoftKey Control Buttons
When you are preparing to make a call, several function options will appear along the
bottom of the display screen. To use one of the functions, simply press the SoftKey
control button directly below the function listed on the display screen.
Missed Phone Call Indicator
When your Z-20 display screen is
off, and this SoftKey’s light is
blinking, it indicates that you
received a missed call. Press this
SoftKey to view the Missed Call Log.
Video Mail Waiting Indicator
When your Z-20 display screen is off,
and this SoftKey’s light is blinking, it
indicates that you have a least one video
mail message waiting to be viewed.
To stop the blinking light, you will need
to review your video mail online at
www.zvrs.com or watch your video
message on your Z-20.

Navigation Principles
The following navigation principles apply:
•Press the button to show the “HOME” tab whenever no menu is
shown. When the menu is displayed, press the key again to hide the menu.
•Use the up/down/right/left keys to navigate.
•To make a selection, use the button.
•Once inside a submenu, press the left arrow key to go back one level.
•Inside a menu, use the button to close all submenus and go directly
back to the home page.
•When entering information in a text or number field, use the “C” button to delete
numbers/letters to the left of the current cursor position.
•To toggle between numeric and alphanumeric settings, press and hold the “#” button
for at least two seconds.
Self-View/Picture-In-Picture (PIP)
•Before making a call, you can press the button to see what you
look like to the other caller. This allows you to adjust the camera if needed.
•Press the button again to hide the self-view image.
•During the call, press the button and it will display a smaller screen of
you on the right bottom corner of the screen.

Calling Someone Using Manual Dialing
Type in the phone number you wish to call and press the button. To use VCO Plus (Z’s
single-line voice carry-over feature), you can either pick up the handset or use the built-in
speakerphone and microphone after dialing. Be sure to un-mute your microphone so they
can hear your voice.
Another option is to press the button to show the home page with favorites and
frequently called list displayed. You can enter the phone number now, then press the
button, or you may highlight a name/phone number by using UP/DOWN arrow key then
press the button.
Answering An Incoming Call
There are two ways to answer an incoming call:
1. Press the button to answer the call; OR
2. Highlight ACCEPT then press to answer the call.
Rejecting An Incoming Call
1. Press the button to reject the call; OR
2. Highlight REJECT then press to reject
the call.
Note: If you have video mail enabled, all
rejected calls will be answered by your video
answering machine automatically. Otherwise,
the call will be disconnected, and they will
not be able to leave a message.

Switching Between Handset/Speakerphone/Headset
To switch from handset to speakerphone without hanging up the call, press the button
before putting the handset back in its cradle.
To switch from speakerphone to handset, just lift the handset.
To switch between speakerphone and headset, press the corresponding button: or .
Calling Someone Using The Directory
You can open the directory in one of two ways:
1. Press the button to display the phone book; OR
2. Press the button and select the DIRECTORY tab to see your contacts listed from your
ZVRS online account. Then, use the up and down keys to highlight whom you would like
to call and press the button to place the call.

Searching In The Directory
To locate an entry in the Directory, you can use a quick search. To locate a specific contact, just
type in the first letter of the contact’s name in the search field. (See below.)
Note: You may need to toggle between 123 and abc by pressing and holding the #key for two
seconds before you can begin do a quick search.
You can narrow down your search list further by typing in a second and third letter, and so on.
Adding A Contact To The Directory
You can add contacts for your Z-20 by using your computer. Here’s what to do:
1. Go online to www.zvrs.com.
2. Enter your profile’s username and password to log in.
3. Go to Contacts, then click ADD NEW CONTACT to add a contact, then type in the
contact’s name, phone number, and choose the type of call (VRS, VCO, Spanish or
Point-to-Point).
4. When you’re finished, click on the CREATE button to save the contact.
Note: All contact changes will automatically update on your Z-20, as well as ALL of the other Z
products tied to your profile.

out how to quickly and easily import them.
