Safety Notes
The Xerox 5750 printer/copier and the recommended maintenance
supplies have been designed and tested to meet strict safety
requirements. Attention to the following notes will ensure the
continued safe operation of your printer/copier.
Electrical Safety
•Plug the power cord directly into a correctly grounded electrical
outlet. If you do not know whether an outlet is grounded, ask an
electrician to check the outlet.
WARNING: You may get a severe electrical shock if the outlet is not
correctly grounded.
•Do not place the printer/copier where people may step on the
power cord. Do not place objects on the power cord.
•Do not override or disable electrical or mechanical interlocks.
•Do not obstruct the ventilation openings. These openings are
provided to prevent the printer/copier from overheating.
WARNING:Do not push objects into slots or openings on the
printer/copier. Making a contact with a voltage point or shorting out a
part could result in fire or electrical shock.

•If you notice any unusual noises or odors, switch off the power
to the printer/copier immediately. If possible, disconnect the
power cord from the electrical outlet. Call an authorized Xerox
service representative to correct the problem.
•If any of the following conditions occur, switch off the power to
the printer/copier immediately and call an authorized Xerox
service representative. If possible, disconnect the power cord
from the electrical outlet.
–The power cord is damaged or frayed.
–Liquid is spilled into the printer/copier.
–The printer/copier is exposed to water.
–Any part of the printer/copier is damaged.
Laser Safety
WARNING:Using the controls or adjustments, or performing any
procedures other than those specified herein, may result in a
hazardous exposure to laser light.
This equipment complies with safety standards. With specific regard
to laser safety, the equipment complies with performance standards
for laser products set by government agencies as a Class 1 laser
product and does not emit hazardous lights; the beam is totally
enclosed during all modes of customer operation and maintenance.

Maintenance Safety
•Do not attempt any maintenance procedure that is not
specifically described in the documentation that is supplied with
your printer/copier.
•Do not use aerosol cleaners. The use of supplies that are not
approved may cause poor performance of the printer/copier,
and could create a dangerous condition.
•Use the supplies and cleaning materials only as directed in this
manual. Keep all of these materials out of the reach of children.
•Do not remove the covers or guards that are fastened with
screws. There are no parts behind these covers that you can
maintain or service.
•Do not perform any maintenance procedures unless you have
been trained to do them by a Xerox representative or unless a
procedure is specifically described in one of the printer/copier
manuals.
Operational Safety
Your Xerox printer/copier and supplies were designed and tested to
meet strict safety requirements. These include safety agency
examination, approval, and compliance with established
environmental standards.
Your attention to the following safety guidelines will help ensure the
continued safe operation of your printer/copier:
•Use the materials and supplies specifically designed for your
printer/copier. The use of unsuitable materials may result in
poor performance of the printer/copier and possibly a hazardous
situation.
•Follow all warnings and instructions that are marked on, or
supplied with, the printer/copier.
•Place the printer/copier in a room that provides adequate space
for ventilation and servicing.

•Place the printer/copier on a level, solid surface (not on a thick
pile carpet) that has adequate strength for the weight of the
machine.
•Do not attempt to move the printer/copier. A leveling device that
was lowered when your printer/copier was installed may
damage the carpet or floor.
•Do not locate the printer/copier near a heat source.
•Do not locate the printer/copier in direct sunlight.
•Do not locate the printer/copier in line with the cold air flow from
an air conditioning system.
•Do not place containers of coffee or other liquid on the printer/
copier.
•Do not block or cover the slots and openings on the printer/
copier. Without adequate ventilation, the printer/copier may
overheat.
•Do not attempt to override any electrical or mechanical interlock
devices.
•WARNING:Be careful when working in areas identified with this
warning symbol. These areas may be very hot and could cause
personal injury.
If you need any additional safety information concerning the printer/
copier or materials, contact your Xerox representative.
Ozone Safety
This printer/copier produces ozone during normal operation. The
ozone is heavier than air, and the quantity is dependent on copy
volume. Providing the proper environmental parameters, as
specified in the 5750 installation procedure, ensures that
concentration levels meet safe limits.

FCC notices . . . in the USA
Radio frequency This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency
energy, and, if not installed and used in accordance with the
instruction manuals, may cause interference with radio
communications. The equipment has been tested and found to
comply with the limits for a Class A computing device pursuant to
Subpart J of Part 15 of the FCC rules, which are designed to provide
reasonable protection against such interference, when the
equipment is operated in a commercial environment. Operation of
this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause an interference,
in which case the user, at his own expense, will be required to take
whatever measures are necessary to correct the interference.
Changes or modifications to this equipment that are not specifically
approved by the Xerox Corporation may void the authority that is
granted by the FCC to operate this equipment.
Safety Extra Low Voltage Approval
The Xerox 5750 Digital Color Printer/Copier is in compliance with
various governmental agencies and national safety regulations. All
system ports meet the requirements for Safety Extra Low Voltage
(SELV) circuits for connection to customer-owned devices and
networks.
Additions of customer-owned or third-party accessories that are
attached to the printer/copier must meet or exceed the requirements
listed above.
All modules that require external connection must be installed per
the 5750 installation procedure.

Certifications . . . in Canada
NOTICE: The Industry Canada label identifies certified equipment.
This certification means that the equipment meets certain
telecommunications network protective, operational and safety
requirements. The department does not guarantee the equipment
will operate to the user’s satisfaction.
Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is
permissible to be connected to the facilities of the local
telecommunications company. The equipment must also be
installed using an acceptable method of connection. In some cases,
the company’s inside wiring associated with a single line individual
service may be extended by means of a certified connector
assembly (telephone extension cord). The customer should be
aware that compliance with the above conditions may not prevent
degradation of service in some situations. Repairs to certified
equipment should be made by an authorized Canadian
Maintenance facility designated by the supplier. Any repairs or
alterations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment
malfunctions, may give the telecommunications company cause to
request the user to disconnect the equipment. Users should ensure
for their own protection that the electrical ground connections of the
power utility, telephone lines, and internal water metallic pipe
system, if present, are connected together. This precaution may be
particularly important in rural areas.
CAUTION:Users should not attempt to make such connections
themselves, but should contact the appropriate electric inspection
authority, or electrician, as appropriate.
The Load Number (60) assigned to each terminal device denotes
the percentage of the total load to be connected to a telephone loop
which is used by the device, to prevent overloading. The
termination on a loop may consist of any combination of devices
subject only to the requirement that the total of the Load Numbers of
all devices does not exceed 100.

Certifications . . . in Europe
The CE marking that is applied to this product symbolizes Rank
Xerox Declaration of Conformity with the following applicable
Directives of the European Union as of the dates indicated:
January 1, 1995: - Council Directive 73/23/EEC amended by
Council Directive 93/68/EEC, approximation of the laws of the
member states related to low voltage equipment.
January 1, 1996: - Council Directive 89/336/EEC, approximation of
the laws of the member states related to electromagnetic
compatibility.
A full declaration, defining the relevant Directives and referenced
standards, can be obtained from your Rank Xerox representative.
WARNING:This is a Class A product. In a domestic environment,
this product may cause radio interference, in which case the user
may be required to take adequate measures.
WARNING:In order to allow this equipment to operate in proximity
to Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) equipment, the external
radiation from ISM equipment may have to be limited or special
mitigation measures taken.
