All WOUNDWO external venetian blinds are designed and manufactured in line with the provisions set forth in the EN 13659 standard.
Nonetheless, dangers can arise for the people involved and animals and/or the product can be impaired or other property damaged.
The product may only be operated as intended, in a technically perfect condition, in a safety- and risk-conscious manner and in
accordance with these instructions for use.
Faults that could compromise safety are to be rectified immediately.
4. SAFETY
WOUNDWO external venetian blinds are primarily designed to provide protection against the sun and heat, as well as to regulate daylight.
WOUNDWO external venetian blinds also provide privacy and façade protection. Any other use or use that extends beyond this shall be deemed
improper. The manufacturer assumes no liability for any resultant damages.
No changes, additions or conversions may be made to a WOUNDWO external venetian blind without the manufacturer‘s consent. If the external
venetian blind suffers additional loading as a result of suspended objects, this can lead to the external venetian blind becoming damaged. Such
actions are therefore impermissible. External venetian blinds in an imperfect condition must be replaced by a specialist dealer immediately.
Only the spare parts approved by WOUNDWO may be used to replace worn or defective parts. In the case of parts sourced from third
parties, there is no guarantee that these have been designed and manufactured in line with safety and loading requirements.
Assembly and maintenance work may only be performed by qualified staff.
WO&WO Sonnenlichtdesign GmbH & Co KG assumes no liability for damages caused by improper use.
5. INTENDED USE

DATA FOR THE ELECTRIC DRIVE
6. PRODUCT INFORMATION
The electric motor is not designed for permanent operation. After approx. 4 minutes of operation, the thermal protection starts and the
motor switches off independently. The motor is ready for operation again after 15 – 30 minutes. However, the new actuation time is con-
siderably reduced, lasting 1 – 2 minutes (depending on the season and the associated ambient temperature).
WIND LOAD LIMIT VALUES
Since there is currently no valid test standard that defines the determination of wind load limit values for external venetian blinds, the maximum
permissible wind class must be stated as 0 (zero) due to the lack of a test standard. This means that the wind class cannot be defined or is
unknown for external venetian blind systems.
Until a valid test standard is published, we shall subject WOUNDWO external venetian blind systems to an internal factory wind load test. The test
values for the relevant external venetian blind systems are available and can be requested from a WOUNDWO specialist dealer if necessary.
ACCESSORIES
Detailed information about the right accessories and how to integrate them is available from all WOUNDWO specialist dealers.
NOISE EMISSION
The sound pressure level is less than 70 dB(A) pursuant to EN 12100:2010.
The external venetian blinds may only be used up to the wind resistance class declared by the manufacturer. The wind class may
only be downgraded due to poor assembly conditions in exceptional cases and with the end user‘s consent.

4EXTERNAL VENETIAN BLINDS
External venetian blinds may only be operated by persons who have received instruction from appropriate specialist staff. Particular
care is required in the case of people who cannot correctly assess the risks of misuse.
Never allow children to play with the operating equipment! If available, keep the wireless remote controls out of the reach of children.
The external venetian blind may only be actuated if it has been ensured that there are no obstacles in the movement area of the
external venetian blind curtain.
Solar radiation and motorised operation can cause system surfaces or individual external venetian blind components to become
extremely hot, which may lead to burns in the event of direct contact.
Only use suitable and permissible climbing aids for maintenance, repair and cleaning work on the system. Climbing aids must not be
leaned against or fixed to the external venetian blind. Ensure that these are secure and provide sufficient support. Never hold on to the
system – risk of injury and falling!
The external venetian blind curtain is mobile and may buckle or sag.
When working on the system, the automatic control must be switched off for safety reasons. In addition, it must also be ensured that it
is not possible to manually operate the system by accident or that the system can power up or shut down automatically. For this pur-
pose, disconnect the power supply, e.g. remove the fuse or disconnect the plug coupling on the motor from the power supply (electri-
cian required). During manual operation, it must be clearly identifiable that work is being performed on the system and that it may not
be operated by attaching a corresponding notice to the operating elements (switches, push button, hand-held radio transmitter).
In frosty conditions, there is the risk of damage to or destruction of the external venetian blind as a result of ice build-up occurring. The
external venetian blind curtain may only be moved up and down if it has been ensured that the external venetian blind and windowsill
are free from snow and ice. Do not apply any force when operating a frozen external venetian blind curtain! It is therefore essential that
any available automatic control be switched to manual operation when there is a risk of frost.
Foreign objects or coarse dirt, especially in the area of the moving system parts, are/is to be removed immediately, as there is a risk of
damage to or destruction of the external venetian blind as a result.
If it is windy, the external venetian blind must be fully retracted.
If operation of the external venetian blind is no longer possible due to a technical defect or fault (e.g. power failure during motorised
operation), the danger zone around the external venetian blind must be secured accordingly. Falling system parts can cause injury to
people and animals, as well as damage property!
In any case, contact an appropriate specialist dealer if the external venetian blind malfunctions.
Please observe the valid disposal regulations when disassembling or replacing the external venetian blind.
7. OPERATION
7.1 GENERAL SAFETY NOTICES FOR OPERATING EXTERNAL VENETIAN BLINDS
7.2 EXTERNAL VENETIAN BLINDS WITH MOTORISED OPERATION
If the external venetian blind curtain is fully closed or opened, do not continue to forcibly turn the operating crank – this could damage
the system. When turning the crank, ensure that the direction of rotation is correct.
Too great a deflection on the operating crank (connecting shaft) leads to stiffness and excessive wear.
7.3 EXTERNAL VENETIAN BLINDS WITH CRANK OPERATION
When the system is being handed over, the responsible specialist must provide appropriate instruction on correctly operating the
electric drive. During this process, an explanation of how the individual operating elements are assigned is also provided.
External venetian blinds may only be operated by persons who have received instruction from specialist staff.
Never allow children to play with the operating equipment (switches, buttons, wireless remote controls)! Keep remote controls out of
the reach of children.
Work on electrical systems may only be performed by trained electricians.
Remember that even an automatic control can fail in exceptional cases (e.g. power failure, defects, sudden bad weather)
– Recommendation: deactivate the automatic control when you are away from home.
If the external venetian blind is assembled in front of your balcony or terrace doors and the external venetian blind is connected to an
automatic control, there is a risk that you will lock yourself out. To prevent locking yourself out, deactivate the automatic control before
using the balcony or terrace.

No system parts must be opened or removed when cleaning and caring for the external venetian blind. Should this be necessary,
contact a specialist dealer.
Heavy dirt deposits can lead to stiffness or damages and reduce the product lifetime, so remove any dirt sticking to the curtain surface
on a regular basis.
When doing so, also remove dirt or objects from the guide rails.
Only use commercially available, solvent-free cleaner and clean water to clean the external venetian blind. Do not use aggressive
cleaning agents, solvents such as alcohol or benzine, or scouring agents or scouring pads.
Never lubricate the external venetian blind mechanics or the motor!
To optimally maintain the gliding ability of the slat guide pins in the guide rails, we recommend spraying them with a grease-free
silicone spray if necessary. Contact a specialist dealer if the system is making a great deal of noise.
7.4 EXTERNAL VENETIAN BLINDS WITH AN INTEGRATED INSECT SCREEN
9. CLEANING AND CARE
Manually operating an integrated insect screen curtain from the top down: the curtain (insect screen) independently moves upwards
a little once the end bar is manually unlocked. For this reason, also manually slow the curtain down if necessary, to avoid damage to
the curtain as a result of it moving upwards too forcibly.
The curtains of the rolling integrated insect screen are pre-tensioned using a spring shaft. Never attempt to disassemble the canvas
shaft – risk of injury! Always contact a responsible specialist dealer for any maintenance or repair work.
When using an integrated insect screen solution in the door area (curtain, rotating frame, sash frame), always check whether the
insect screen is opened or closed. As the insect screen gauze is easy to see through, there is the risk of it being overlooked. Attempting
to walk / run through a closed insect screen element can cause injuries to people or damages to the insect screen element.
When using an integrated insect screen revolving door featuring an automatic door closer, the rotary wing closes automatically. Ensure
that there are no people or objects between the rotary wing and the frame profile when the revolving door is closing automatically –
risk of crushing!
When using an external venetian blind featuring an integrated insect screen revolving door, ensure that the insect screen rotary wing
(opens outwards) is closed when the external venetian blind is being operated. Operating the external venetian blind (extending the
external venetian blind curtain) when the insect screen rotary wing is opened can cause damage to the entire system.
When using an integrated insect screen sliding door, ensure that there are no people or objects between the sliding wing and the
frame profile when the sliding wing is closing – risk of crushing!
8. THE FOLLOWING POINTS MUST BE OBSERVED
To avoid thermal breakage of glass and the build-up of condensation, sufficient aeration and ventilation of the room, the correct selec-
tion of glass and professional installation are all required.
We would like to point out that insufficient ventilation and aeration may cause a build-up of condensation and also a build-up of heat.
We cannot accept any guarantees that have been damaged in such a manner. This also applies to glass breakages as a consequence
of heat build-up or unsuitable characteristics of the glass.

6EXTERNAL VENETIAN BLINDS
Reliable and safe use of the external venetian blind can only be guaranteed if the system is checked and maintained on a regular
basis, so check the external venetian blind regularly for signs of wear or damage, especially in the area of the textiles used, such as
hoisting belts and suspension cords. External venetian blinds needing repair must not be operated. Always contact an appropriate
specialist dealer for any maintenance or repair work.
Do not attempt to repair electrical parts by yourself – danger of death! Contact a specialist dealer in the event of faults.
For external venetian blinds that can be operated outside of the user‘s field of vision, the user must take appropriate measures to
prevent undesirable operation of the external venetian blinds during maintenance or repair work.
External venetian blind slats can twist within the suspension cord when subjected to wind loading, for instance. To restore proper
functioning again, the relevant slat can be rearranged inside the suspension cord again.
Only the spare parts approved by WOUNDWO may be used to replace worn or defective parts, otherwise any warranty and guarantee
claims shall cease to be valid.
10. MAINTENANCE
Improper disassembly of the external venetian blind can cause personal injury or property damage, so only have an appropriate
specialist dealer perform disassembly work.
Please refer to the relevant instructions for assembly for the specifications and notices on disassembling the external venetian blind.
