Warning!
Power supply elements are under high voltage. It is strictly
forbidden to touch conducting elements of the power
supply unit under voltage.
!
When connecting a computer to the switch, remove PoE
jumpers for this port.
!
SFP port operates only at 1000 Mbps. Fast Ethernet SFP
modules will not operate.
For effective lightning protection the following is required:
proper grounding made according to the Electrical
Code;
a shielded twisted pair with shielded RJ45
connectors;
minimum length of the twisted pair andpower supply
cables

1 Purpose
PSW-1G4F-Box is a multifunction gigabit outdoor managed switch used for the
construction of IP video surveillance networks.

5
2 Features
The switch enclosure is made of reinforced polycarbonate and is absolutely
corrosion-resistant. The switch design and fiber glass reinforcement provide the
maximum possible impact protection rating (IK10). Dust and moisture protection
rating –IP66.
The switch comprises industrial hardware with a wide range of operating
temperatures. Application of industrial SFP modules will ensure normal operation
in the temperature range from –60°C to 50°C and above.
The switch has two 1-gigabit ports. The first port has RJ45 connector, and the
second one has SFP connector. This enables connecting the switch to a video
server (or other switches) using optical or copper cables.
Use a jumper to select the speed of optical port operation (1000 M or 100 M).
Use a jumper to select a managed mode (MAN) or an unmanaged mode
(UNMAN). The unmanaged mode does not require any additional configuration
of the switch, but it has fewer functions. It is often used in simple projects. The
managed mode has increased capacity.
The key element of the switch is high performance chip from Marvell, which is
able to process a large volume of traffic coming from the IP cameras.
The switch may supply PoE to any camera compliant with IEEE802.3af standard.
During operation with TFortis TH camera housings the switch uses a standard
twisted pair to power both the camera (IEEE802.3af) and the camera housing
(Passive PoE).
Weatherproof design

Selection of optical port speed
Selection of switch management mode
High performance gigabit switch

Power supply of camera housings via PoE

6
A built-in power supply unit ensures direct connection to ~230VAC power supply,
eliminating the need for additional power supply unit.
A built-in lightning protection for Ethernet ports and ~230VAC power supply
protects the switch and connected cameras from surges caused by electrostatic
discharges.
For safe and guaranteed start of video cameras in freezing weather, TFortis TH
equipment allows for preheating of camera housings.
The switch controls operation of the camera. In case of hanging, the switch will
reboot the camera automatically over PoE. It allows to create unattended IP video
surveillance networks.
Two 1-gigabit ports allow to connect switches in a chain. Support of STP/RSTP
protocols allows to create ring topologies, which significantly improves fault
tolerance of the system.
The switch enclosure has a tamper sensor (a sealed switch). The cabinet door
opening will generate an alarm message to be sent to the server via SNMP or
Syslog protocols.
The optical distribution frame allows for optical cable splicing inside the switch
and connecting it to SFP modules.
A 35 mm DIN rail is provided inside the switch to allow installation of additional
equipment.

3.4.1 PoE jumpers
PSW-1G4F-Box switch supports IEEE802.3af and Passive PoE power supply.
Selection of power supply options is specified by the jumper configuration (Table
3.4.1). Power is supplied via pairs 1, 2 and 3, 6 over data (Option A) or by free
pairs 4, 5 and 7, 8 (Option B).
