2.1 Fuselage Lamination

•PartsRequired:

oFuselageHalf(2each)

o6”0.083”CarbonRod



1) Laybothfuselagehalvesflatonthetablewiththerecessedslotfacingup.Pressthecarbonrod

intothefoamontherecessedslotstoenlargetheslot.

2) Applyabeadofgluearoundtheentireperimeterofoneofthefuselagehalves.

3) Presstheungluedfusehalfontothegluedfusehalf,recessedslotsfacingeachother,andgently

slidethepartsaroundtospreadtheglueevenly.

4) Separatethetwofusehalvesandinsertthecarbonrodintooneoftherecessedslots.

5) Rejointhetwofusehalves,gluesidetowardeachother,ensuringthatthecarbonrodalreadyin

theslotalignswiththerecessedslotontheotherfusehalf.Settheassembledfuselamination

asidetoallowthegluetocure.Ifdesiredyoucanplaceaflatweight(book,etc.)ontopofthe

laminationwhilecuringtoensureaflatassembly.

6) Oncecured,sandleadingedgestoroundthemtoyourliking.

2.2 Wing Reinforcement Lamination

1) Laythemainwingonthetablewiththediagonalcarbonrodlocationmarkingsslotfacingup.

Pressthecarbonrodintotherecessedslotstoenlargethemslightlyifnecessary.Applyabeadof

gluearoundtheentireperimeteroftheKFmStep.

2) PressthegluedsideoftheKFmontotheMainWingwiththecarbonrodsinplace,aligningthe

leadingedgesofbothparts,andgentlyslidethepartsaroundtospreadtheglueevenly.

3) Settheassembledwinglaminationasidetoallowthegluetocure.Ifdesiredyoucanplaceaflat

weight(book,etc.)ontopofthelaminationwhilecuringtoensureaflatassembly.

4) Oncecured,sandtheleadingedgestoyourliking.



Elevator/RudderSetup

Warning:Thisprocessinvolvesusingextremelysharpcuttingblades.Caremustbetakentoavoidinjury.

1) Laytheelevatorhalvesonthetablewiththeleadingedgefacingyourselfandthewidestparts

nearesteachother.Useastraightedgerulerandahobbyknifeorasandingblocktocutan

approximate45°bevelintotheleadingedgeofthecontrolsurface.

2) Bendtwo90‐degreebendsintotheElevatorJoinerwire1”fromeachend,makingaU‐shapewith

themiddle3”long.Ensuretheshortsidesareparalleltoeachother;ifnot,bendthewiresothey

are.Presstheshortendsofthejoinerwireintothebeveledendoftheelevatorhalvesatthesmall

notchescutintotheelevatorhalves.Gluethewiretotheelevatorhalvesandusesmallpiecesof

tapeovertheslottosecure.



3) Laytheverticalstabilizeronthetablewiththebottomfacingyou.Carefullycracktherudderalong

therudderlineoruseastraightedgerulerandahobbyknifetocutdowntheruddercutlinein

ordertoseparatetherudder.



4) Laytherudderonthetablewiththeleadingedgefacingyou.Useastraightedgeruleranda

hobbyknifetocutanapproximate45°bevelintotheleadingedgeofthecontrolsurface,ensuring

thatthebevelisonthecorrectside.

Ifyouchoosetouseagluehingeforyoursurfacesensureyoubevelthematingsurfaceaswell.

5) Placetheverticalstabilizerandrudderbacktogetherwithtrailingandleadingedgestouching,

orientedtheproperdirectionforthebeveltofacetotheleftwheninstalled.Cutapprox.¼”x1”

piecesofhingetape.Usetwoofthesesmallpiecesoftapetoattachthesmoothsidesofthe

rudderandverticalstabtogether.Dryfitamicrocontrolhornintotheslot,ensuringthatthehinge

bevelisfacingdown.Setassemblyaside.

6) Placetheelevatorandmainwingtogetherwithtrailingandleadingedgestouching,orientedsuch

thatthehingebevelfacesdownwhentheKFmStepisfacingup.Usetwosmallpiecesoftapeon

eachelevatorhalftoattachthesmoothsidesoftheelevatorhalvesandmainwingtogether.
