1.0 PRODUCT OVERVIEW AND FEATURES
1.1 Description
The LB-1000-CM system management module is mounted in the last slot labelled “NM” on the
far right of LB-1000 Headend platform to provide local monitoring and configuration, plus remote
management. The control module has a built-in touch screen TFT display used for local setting of
application modules and for monitoring the LB-1000 status. The touch screen folds into the control
module to save space. LB-1000-CM provides monitoring and configuration through RJ-45 LAN
port using a PC compatible Web graphical user interface (GUI). It also integrates the SNMP
protocol and the SCTE-HMS-MIBs for remote access via standard SNMP agent.
1.2 Features
•Short circuit protection
•Touch screen display for local monitoring and setting
•Touch screen folds into the control module to save space
•RJ45 Ethernet port for communication with Web GUI and SNMP
•LEDs for power supply status indication
•Back up, Copy and Restore functions allow easy replacement of application modules

2.0 SAFETY NOTES
Failure to comply with these safety precautions and with the general or specific safety precautions
described elsewhere in the LB-1000 series manual violates the safety standards of the design,
manufacture, and intended use of the device. Lindsay Broadband Inc. assumes no liability for the
customer’s failure to comply with these precautions.
CAUTION: Do not operate the chassis outside of its maximum ratings. Doing so may result in
unsatisfactory performance, unit failure, shortened unit life span, or a safety hazard.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to modify or service any part of this chassis not specifically referred to
as replaceable in this manual. Doing so voids the warranty. Return the chassis to company for
service and repair.
CAUTION: Do not restrict air flow in front of or behind the chassis. The module should be operated
in an ambient environment between -20 and 50ºC (32 and 122ºF).
CAUTION: Store the chassis away from corrosive materials, at a temperature between -40 to 85
ºC (-40 to 185 ºF), and with no more than 95% humidity, non-condensing.
CAUTION: To avoid damaging the touchscreen LCD, please do not tap it with anything sharp or
apply excessive pressure to it with your fingertips. It is recommended to use fingers when you
use the touch screen LCD.
NO SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE. REFER SERVICING TO QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL.

4.0 INSTALLATION
The network management control module can be installed only in the special slot on the far right
of the front face of the rack. It is inserted into the rack from the front position. When installing the
module, notice that the TFT display is accessible from the front of the control module. Be very
careful when inserting the LB-1000-CM to protect the display from any damage and make sure
the module is installed in place.
1) Gently insert the LB-1000-CM module into right most slot labelled “NM” (Only!) in the
front of the chassis. Be careful to align the metal guide rails on the top and bottom of
the module to the chassis housing.
2) Completely push the LB-1000-CM module into the special slot on the right of the rack.
Ensure that the LB-1000-CM module is reliably connected to the LB-1000-CH rear
panel. On successful connection you will hear two beeps and it will be automatically
powered on. Appropriate Status LED for power supply with light up.
