Thank you for purchasing the INTELLINET NETWORK SOLUTIONS™

Gigabit Ethernet Desktop Switch, Model 524117 (5-port) or Model

524124 (8-port).

Providing your network with the high level of performance it needs to

handle quick transfer speeds to support disk mirroring, data backup,

graphics image le transfers and other bandwidth-intensive applications,

this handy device also utilizes broadcast storm control and the store and

forward switching method to ensure that your connections remain active

even under extremely busy conditions.

Easy-to-follow instructions in this user manual help make installation

of the switch quick and simple, so you’ll also soon be enjoying the

benets of these additional features:

• 10/100/1000 Mbps auto-sensing Auto MDI-X ports automatically detect

optimal network speeds

• High performance, half and full duplex, with zero packet loss

• Full ow control support provides optimum performance

• Auto-learning of network conguration

• Supports up to 4,096 MAC address entries

• Supports jumbo frames up to 4.6 kBytes

• 156 kBytes buffer memory

• Lifetime Warranty

FCC Warning

This device has been tested and found to comply with limits for a Class B

digital device, pursuant to Part 2 and 15 of FCC Rules. These limits are

designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference

when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This

equipment generates and radiates radio frequency energy and, if not

installed and used in accordance with the user’s manual, may cause

interference, in which case the user will be required to correct the

interference at his own expense.

CE Warning

This is a Class B product. In a domestic environment, this product may

cause radio interference, in which case the user may be required to take

adequate measures.

The top-panel LED indicators — POWER, Link/Act — allow for more

convenient monitoring and troubleshooting of the switch. The table

below shows each LED function.

rEar panEl

All ports on the Gigabit Ethernet Desktop Switch support Auto-MDI/

MDI-X functionality, so crossover cables and uplink ports are not

needed for connections to PCs, routers, hubs, additional switches or

other devices. Cat5/5e UTP/STP cables provide optimal performance;

if a top-panel LED corresponding to any of the ports in use doesn’t

indicate a link or activity, check the connected device for proper setup

and operation.

LED Status Operation

POWER Steady green Power on

Off Check AC connection; turn the

power on

LINK/ACT Steady green Valid port connection

Blinking green Valid port connection; data being

transmitted/received

Off No link established

siDE panEl

Plug the female end of the power adapter rmly into the receptacle on

the side panel and the other end into an electrical outlet. Conrm that

the power LED is lit for a normal power status. NOTE: To ensure proper

operation, use only the power adapter included with the switch.

installation

Prior to use, it is recommended that the device be placed/positioned:

• on a level surface that can support the weight of the switch (and any

other items that need to be considered);

• with a minimum of 25 mm of clearance on the top and sides for

adequate ventilation;

• away from sources of electrical noise, such as radios, transmitters and

broadband ampliers; and

• where it cannot be affected

by excessive moisture.
