Warranties

Fike provides a one-year limited manufacturer's warranty on this product. The standard warranty is printed in

each Marketing Price List. All warranty returns must be returned from an authorized Fike Distributor. Contact

Fike's Marketing Department for further warranty information. Fike maintains a repair department that is

available to repair and return existing electronic components or exchange/purchase previously repaired

inventory component (advance replacement). All returns must be approved prior to return. A Return Material

Authorization (RMA) number should be indicated on the box of the item being returned. Contact the

appropriate Regional Sales Manager for further information regarding Return Material Procedures.

1.0 PREFACE

1.1 ABOUT THIS MANUAL

This manual is intended to be a complete reference for the installation and operation of the

Fike Micromist Interface Module, Part Number 10-2340. The information contained in this manual

must be utilized by an authorized distributor trained by Fike Corporation in order to properly install,

test and service the Micromist Interface Module. This manual can also be used by the end user as

an Operations Manual for the Micromist Interface Module.

1.2 PRODUCT SUPPORT

If you have a question or encounter a problem not covered in this manual, you should first try to

contact the distributor who installed the protection system. If you are unable to reach your installing

distributor or you simply do not know who installed the system you can contact Fike Technical

Support at (816) 229-3405, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST or visit our web-site

at www.fike.com. For weekends and after-hour emergencies, you can call the same number in order

to access Fike’s emergency paging system. You will be prompted to leave your name, phone

1.4 TERMS USED IN THIS MANUAL

The following terminology is used frequently in this manual:

Term Description

Class A Refers to an arrangement of monitored initiating device, signaling line, or

notification appliance circuits that prevents a single open or ground on the

installation wiring of the circuits from causing loss of the system’s intended

function. i.e. redundant wiring (typically 4 wire)

Class B Refers to an arrangement of monitored initiating device, signaling line, or

notification appliance circuits which would permit a single open or ground on

the installation wiring of the circuits from causing loss of the system’s

intended function (typically 2 wire with end of line resistor for supervision).

FACP Fire Alarm Control Panel

Form C Relay A type of relay which has contacts including a common, a normally open

(NO) leg and a normally closed (NC) leg.

Initiating Input circuit

MicromistFike Fire suppression technology using a fine water mist spray system

released with solenoid actuation.

Power Limited A circuit designation given for wiring purposes. The amount of current

flowing through the circuit is limited vs. being unlimited, or non-power limited.

Releasing Output circuit that is listed and/or approved for the use in controlling an

output circuit intended for extinguishing a fire.

Reverse Polarity Output type from fire alarm control panel in which the output reverses from

-24Vdc to +24Vdc

1.5 SAFETY NOTICES

Be certain to read all the following warnings and cautions before installing or using this device.

Accidental damage to the device could result if these warnings and cautions are not heeded!

CAUTION: The Micromist Interface Module contains static sensitive components. Keep the

module in the protective static bags it was shipped in until time for installation.

Always ground yourself with a proper wrist strap before handling the Interface

module. If the installer is grounded at all times, damage due to static discharge

will not occur. If the module requires repair or return to Fike, it must be shipped

in an anti-static bag.

CAUTION: To ensure proper system operation after installation of the Micromist Interface

Module on existing fire alarm and/or suppression systems, this device must be

tested in accordance with NFPA 72 - 1999 edition. Re-acceptance testing is

required after any change, addition or deletion of system components, or after

any modification, repair or adjustment to system hardware or wiring.

WARNING: Failure to disconnect power to the releasing circuits(s) and disarm the

solenoid(s) or any other “critical operation” contacts prior to system testing may

cause accidental activation of the system.

2.0 PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The Micromist Interface module (Part Number 10-2340) provides the ability to activate a Fike Micromist

System from any fire alarm control panel that meets the following criteria:

AND

9A Normally Open Alarm relay contact OR a 24V Reverse

Polarity Alarm Output can be provided to initiate the Micromist

Interface Module

2.3 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Fike Micromist Interface Module has five removable terminal blocks for wiring connections. The

electronic module is encapsulated in a black 4” (101.6mm) square polycase enclosure. It contains a

black test jack for testing and troubleshooting (power ground reference). Instant status of the module is

available by observing the three color status LED’s.
