DESCRIPTION
The CMT3000 jig is designed for easily and rapidly cutting round or elliptic boards and extensions. It
widens the portable router’s application possibilities and increases the quality of the end product as
far as finish and precision are concerned. The basis of the whole jig system is a sliding cross frame
made of special highly resistant plastic with slots along which slider pins run.

JIG ASSEMBLY
ASSEMBLY
(Fig. 1) Fit the guide rods (6) into the connector plate (3) and tighten with M5x16 screws (12) and
washers (11). Screw the control bolts (7) into the slider pins (2).
Put the slider pins (2) into the slots in the cross frame (1). Fit the threaded extensions (5) and (4)
together, fit the threaded extension into the groove of the connector plate (3) and tighten with the
screw M8x20 (8) and washers (9) and (10).
Fit the complete sliders (A) and (B) into the guide slots of the cross frame, fit the previously
assembled extension rod into the holes in the pins of the complete sliders and tighten bolts (7) on
the relative slider pins. Assembly is now complete.

CIRCLE CUTTING
(Fig. 2) Draw the 90° axes of the circle to be cut on the work piece. (Fig. 4) Fix the cross frame (1)
to the work piece (Fig. 4) using the wood screws (13) or with double-sided adhesive tape so that
the grooves of the cross frame coincide perfectly with the previously individuate axes (Fig. 3).
The cross frame is now centered on the circle’s axis.
(Fig. 5) Fit the complete slider (A) into the cross frame slot, move it towards the centre of the cross
frame, (1) where the slots cross, and fix it to the structure (1) using the two countersunk screws
M4x25 (14). Move the router along the extension rods (4) e (5) until the radius is set and once this
has been done, tighten the bolt (7) on the slider pin (2).
NB: Diameters of between 620 and 3000 mm can be cut

ELLIPSE CUTTING
ELLIPSE CUTTING
Ellipses can be cut with a construction design in which the difference between the ellipse’s major
and minor semi-axes is equal to or greater than 205mm.
PROCEDURE FOR CUTTING ELLIPSES
Establishing ellipse size
Indicate the 90° axes of the ellipse to be cut on the work piece and set the dimensions of the ellipse
(Fig. 2).
(Fig. 4) Fix the cross frame (1) to the work piece using the wood screws (13) or with double-sided
adhesive tape so that the slots of the cross frame (1) coincide perfectly with the previously found
axes (Fig. 3).
Establishing the major semi-axis
(Fig. 6) Insert the complete slider (A) into the centre of the slot of the cross frame and fit the
complete slider (B) along the major semi-axis.
Now loosen the bolt (7) of slider (A) and (B), set the required semi-axis length by moving the
extension (4) and (5) towards the centre of the slider pin (A) and tighten the bolt (7) to fix it [the
bolt (7) of the slider (B) has not yet been tightened and the rod passes freely through the slider).
Fig. 6

www.cmtorangetools.com6
Attention: If the work piece is bent or warped, the complete sliders (A) and (B) may block in the
slots of the cross frame (1), so only perfectly flat material must be used.
Minor semi-axis setting
(Fig. 7) Rotate the router by 90°. The cross frame (1) must not be rotated! The complete slider (B)
is at the centre of the cross frame). Set the required minor semi-axis length by moving the extension
(4) and (5) in the slider pin (B); the complete slider (A) remains tightened. Once the minor semi-
axis has been set, tighten the bolt (7) of the complete slider (B).
