Unpack the Router.
Remove the yellow Ethernet cable, product documentation, and Cisco 805 Fast Step CD-ROM
from the Open Me First bag. Remove the desktop power supply and black power cord from
the accessory kit. The following figure shows the items you assembled to perform the steps in
this guide.
The router does not ship with a serial cable. If you need help deciding which serial cable to
order, see Appendix A, “Selecting a Serial Cable” in the Cisco 805 Router Hardware
Installation Guide.

Connect Cables to the Router.
The following figure shows the router back panel, which includes ports that are color-coded to
match the cables included with the router and the serial cable you buy from Cisco.
The HUB/NO HUB button identifies the device that you connect to the yellow Ethernet port
using the yellow Ethernet cable. For example, setting the button to HUB (in) indicates that you
are connecting a hub, while setting the button to NO HUB (out) indicates that you are
connecting a server, PC, or workstation. For information on how the setting of this button on
a hub can affect the setting of this router button, see Chapter 2, “Installing the Cisco 805
Router” in the Cisco 805 Router Hardware Installation Guide.
