why just go from a to B

The road. A simple path, really. And yet it’s come to mean so much

more. Perhaps the real reason roads are special is that every road

leads us to someplace we’re not — but could be. At Chevrolet,

roads are our springboards. They challenge us, taunt us and

guide us to create better, more exciting, more ingenious ways

to move through life. Roads drive us to places we’ve never

been before. And we’ll never stop seeking out new ones.

MODERN YET TIMELESS Chevrolet designers and engineers reached

far into the future to create the all-new 2014 Impala and shape it

firmly in the present. The result is timeless — a convergence of

imaginative design, impeccable craftsmanship, driver-centric

innovations and more available comprehensive safety

features than ever before.

SCULPTURED STYLE: MODERN YET TIMELESS The wide

chrome grille, projector-beam headlamps and

available LED daytime running lamps illuminate the

bold new face of Impala. From the sweeping roofline

and sculpted body sides to the jewel-like chrome

highlights, Impala elicits the rare visceral excitement

of a premium sedan. Poised on available 20-inch

aluminum wheels, the stance of Impala is both athletic

and confident.

DESIGN THAT TURNS HEADS AND HEARTS It’s not often

that a vehicle takes performance and turns it into

an art form. With a silhouette inspired by the best

in both luxury and performance nameplates, Impala

proves itself to be gracefully aggressive, artistically

aerodynamic and passionately refined. “Do you really

need a Mercedes?” asks the Wall Street Journal.

“Car buyers might feel a bit silly blowing twice as

much on an Audi, BMW or Mercedes-Benz knowing

the Chevy is around.”1

• When slowing down, the fuel is cut off and the

motor-generator unit continues to spin along with

the engine. This provides smooth take-off power

when you want to speed up again.

• The engine automatically shuts off when the car

is stopped, while the lithium-ion battery continues

to power accessories such as climate control and

infotainment systems. When you need to release the

brake pedal, restarting is immediate and seamless.

• Energy stored in the lithium-ion battery delivers up

to 15 horsepower of electric power assistance during

heavy acceleration.

POWERHOUSE OF INGENUITY Impala Eco features a

182-horsepower ECOTEC® 2.4L 4-cylinder engine with

eAssist. This patented technology helps Impala Eco

deliver outstanding fuel efficiency in a full-size car. By

adding a 115-volt lithium-ion battery and replacing the

traditional alternator with a 15-kW motor-generator

unit, Impala Eco offers an EPA-estimated 25 MPG city/

36 highway.

HOW IT WORKS Put simply, eAssist uses captured

energy to assist the powertrain — and help save fuel.

Here are some details.

• Regenerative braking captures energy normally

lost during braking or when coasting off-throttle

and converts it into electricity to charge the lithium-

ion battery.

gauge cluster and one available in the radio display.

The Power Flow Display indicates which mode eAssist

is in. There’s also an Eco gauge that tells you when

you’re driving in the ideal “green zone.” And the Auto

Stop indicator in the tachometer shows when the

engine is stopped.

SMOOTH OPERATOR In addition to the overall shape

that promotes seamless airflow, Impala Eco features

active Aero Grille Shutters that close electronically

so air can flow around the car, decreasing wind

resistance. The shutters open intuitively, when the

engine needs air for cooling, using only electricity.

To further increase efficiency, Impala Eco sports low

rolling resistance tires that reduce friction.

With a confident sense of control and balance, the

2014 Impala is an inspiring driving experience. The

stiff body structure and athletic stance allowed

Impala engineers to tune ride and handling precisely

for an impressive connected-to-the-road feel.

RAZOR-SHARP REFLEXES A premium electric rack-

and-pinion steering system delivers crisp, responsive

handling and excellent on-center feel. The tight

steering radius, combined with a variable-effort

feature, which increases the level of power assist

during low-speed maneuvers, contributes to agile

handling and maneuverability.

A NEW LEVEL OF QUIET Triple-sealed doors, 16 acoustic

baffles and acoustic perimeter deflectors in all four

doors are designed to block, reduce and absorb road

noise. The advanced Active Noise Cancellation feature

on 4-cylinder models uses microphones to constantly

monitor sound quality and cancel out unwanted

noises. Highway wind noise is further reduced via

the aerodynamic exterior shape, which has been

validated by extensive wind tunnel testing. With an

acoustic-laminated windshield and front side glass,

plus liquid-applied and melt-on sound-deadening

materials, this is the quietest Impala ever.
