7. SETUP OF THE HEATING BOILER
7.1.PipeworkMaterials
Burnit boilers are compable with both
copper and plasc pipe. Where Plasc
pipe is used it must be of the oxygen
barrier type and be the correct class (to
BS7291:Part1:2001)fortheapplicaon
concerned.
Oneithersealedoropen-ventedsystems;
where plasc pipe is used a minimum
of ONE meter of copper pipe MUST be
connectedbetweenboththeboilerow
and return connecons and the plasc
pipe.
DO NOT CONNECT PLASTIC PIPE DIRECTLY
TO THE BOILER.
We do not accept any responsibility for
any damage, however caused, to plasc
pipingorngs.

Ifplascpipeis tobeused, theinstaller
must check with the plasc pipe
manufacturer that the pipe to be used
is suitable for the temperature and
pressuresconcerned.Plascpipemustbe

7.2.Connecngtheboilertoachimney
• The ue terminal should be located in
a downdraught free area, i.e. above the
roof,whereitcandischargefreelyandnot
present a rehazardwhatever the wind
condions.
• The ue outlet posions shown in the
diagram(takenfromApprovedDocument
J – Secon 2) can meet the above
requirement.
•The heights and separaon distances
shown in the diagram may have to be
increased in parcular cases, e.g. where
high wind exposure, surrounding tall
buildings, or adjacent trees can cause
adversewindeects.
• The boiler ue cannot terminate into
an exisng brick or clay lined chimney.

• The minimum clearance between the
outer ue surface and any combusble
materialis60mm.

The above clearances are as specied in
BuildingRegulaonsApprovedDocument
J. Also refer to Approved Document
J of either the England and Wales or
Irish building regulaons for further
requirements on the installaon of ue
systemsforsolidfuelappliances.
Data in the tables are for
indicative purposes.
Draught depends on the
diameter, height, uneven
sections along the chimney
surface and differences in
temperature of combustion
products and outside air.
We recommend that you
use chimney fitted with flue
terminal. Heating specialist
