There is a re alarm LED on top of the print-hea . It starts blinking when the level of
ink is too low in the reservoir, which means that the bottle of ink is empty. Replace it by
following the steps escribe in 3.1.Ink bottle replacement
After a configure number of prints, if the ink level is still low in the reservoir, the
controller stops the printing (to avoi efective printings). See the controller manual for
information on configuring the number of prints after the ink-low signal.
When the ink low is etecte , the print-hea sen s an alarm signal to the controller,
which can transfer it to an external evice such as a PLC. See controller manual for
etails.
2 Start Up
2.1 On line installation
2.1.1 Defining the position of the system
After unpacking the printer an checking that the contents correspon to your or er
an to the elivery note, the first operation will be to set the position of the print-hea
on the conveyor. The correct print-hea position can be etermine using Co ex an
its 3D capabilities (Fig. 7). Please refer to the Co ex manual for etails.
You must know that the system must be a juste so that the surfaces to be printe
on't touch the print-hea , an are at a maximum istance of 3mm (Fig. 8).

Evaluate, then set precisely the pro uct istance several times before “inking up” the printer
an printing messages ! We strongly recommen fitting pro uct gui e rails.
Install the controller in such a way that it is not at a wire istance superior to 1,5m from
the TC print-hea (J-Series controller).
Don't hesitate to contact your istributor in case you have any questions regar ing the
position of the printer.
2.1.2 Installing the system along the conveyor
Once the correct position of the printer is theoretically etermine , take the S062 square
out of the box (Fig. 9) an screw it in the esire position along the conveyor onto a stable
in epen ent floor-stan . Screw the TC print-hea to S062, using the 4 M5 holes un er the
print-hea enclosure (see also packing list). See Fig. 10.

Due to the risk of vibration, it is not recommen e to fix the printer irectly onto
the conveyor.
Install the controller an connect it to the print-hea using the supplie ata cable but
o not power on.
When the final position of the print-hea along the conveyor is etermine , the next
step is to “ink up” the TC print-hea , as it is shippe ry (see next chapter).
2.1.3 Photocell installation
Install the supplie photocell close to, but before the print-hea . This will etect the
pro uct just before it passes the print-hea nozzles (Fig. 11)

When installing the photocell ensure that the etection is not confuse by reflections, or
by poor light or colour contrast. The two LED lights on the photocell shoul only light once
as it etects the passage of the pro uct. If this is not the case, a just the sensitivity by
rotating the little screw either left or right (see manufacturers instructions).
2.1.4 Enco er installation
It is recommen e to a an enco er to the system if :
–the pro uction line has an often varying or automatically varying spee
–barco es are printe .
In both cases it is recommen e to install the enco er as close as possible from the
printing position of the printer along the conveyor, to minimize the elastic effects of the
conveyor belt.
Information for connecting the enco er to the controller an for operating the enco er can
be foun in the controller manual.
