Training Program Overview

The Phaser 7300 Customer Support Training is a self-paced module for the Xerox

Phaser 7300 Color Laser Printer. This module uses the following components to

train and qualify support specialists on the Phaser 7300 printer:

■Color Theory for Color Printing CD-ROM: introduces basic color

theory concepts

■Phaser 7300 Color Printer Customer Support Training CD-ROM:

provides a product overview and training for setup and care

■Phaser 7300 Color Printer Customer Support Training Self-Study

Guide: contains lab sheets for tasks relating to product setup and care

■Phaser 7300-Phaser 2135 Differences Training Guide: use this

checklist if you have already completed and tested on the Phaser 2135

Customer Support Training

■Online Testing Center: tests your comprehension of each area of

training - overview, setup, and care

Using the Self-Study Guide

This Self-Study Guide is intended to be used in conjunction with the Phaser

7300 Customer Support Training CD-ROM and is designed to provide

hands-on experience with the Phaser 7300 Color Laser Printer. A PDF version of

this Self-Study Guide is also available through the Customer Support Training

CD-ROM Resources link.

This section contains instructions for using the Self-Study Guide, completing the

training, required materials, running the training program, using the Customer

Support Testing Center, and obtaining help from Xerox.

Two Worksheets are included in this Self-Study Guide:

Training Program Overview

The Phaser 7300 Customer Support Training is a self-paced module for the Xerox Phaser 7300

Color Laser Printer. This module is used to train and qualify support specialists to service the

printer by completing the following tasks:

■Phaser 7300 Customer Support Training CD-ROM: provides a product Overview and

training for Setup and Care, plus a Phaser 7300 - Phaser 2135 Differences link for those

with previous Phaser 2135 printer training.

■Phaser 7300 Self-Study Guide: contains Worksheets for tasks relating to product

Overview, Setup, and Care.

■Customer Support Testing Center: tests your comprehension of each area of training —

Overview, Setup, and Care or Phaser 7300 - Phaser 2135 Differences.

How to Complete Phaser 7300 Product Training

This comprehensive training program requires access to the Phaser 7300 Printer Installer and

Utilities CD-ROM and Phaser 7300 Color Printer Interactive Documentation CD-ROM. Access

to a Phaser 7300 Laser Printer is required. Use the following table as a guide for completing the

Phaser 7300 product training:

How to Complete Phaser 7300 - Phaser 2135 Differences Training

Support specialists with previous certification on the Phaser 2135 printer should complete the

Phaser 7300 - Phaser 2135 Differences training. This option does not require access to a Phaser

7300 printer.

Running the Training Program

To run the training program using the Phaser 7300 Customer Support Training CD-ROM:

1. Insert the Phaser 7300 Customer Support Training CD-ROM into your computer.

2. The CD-ROM is designed to autorun. If the autorun feature on your computer is

disabled, open the CD-ROM and double-click the p7300.exe icon to run the program.

3. To begin the training, click the Overview or Differences link.

Browser

The training runs in a standard browser window. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 is the

recommended browser, although other browsers may be used.

Macromedia Flash

The Macromedia Flash ActiveX Control/Plug-in must be installed on your computer to use the

training CD-ROM. If Flash is not detected by the training program, you will be prompted to run

the Flash installer.

Installing Flash

If Flash is not installed, use the following procedure to install Flash for your browser:

1. Insert the Phaser 7300 Customer Support Training CD-ROM.

2. Browse to the installers folder.

3. For Internet Explorer, double-click the InstallAXFlash.exe program. For Netscape

Navigator, double-click the flash32.exe program.

4. Follow the instructions to install Flash.

Adobe Acrobat Reader

Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view the PDF documents contained on the Phaser 7300

Customer Support Training CD-ROM. If Acrobat Reader is not installed, use the following

procedure to install it on your computer:

1. Insert the Phaser 7300 Customer Support Training CD-ROM.

2. Browse to the installers folder.

3. For Windows, double-click the rp505enu.exe program. For Macintosh, double-click

the ar505enu.bin program.

4. Follow the instructions to install Acrobat Reader.

Supported Operating Systems

The following operating systems may be used to run the training program:

■Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Millennium Edition (Me)

■Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP

Customer Support Testing Center

Self-Checks are provided at the end of each section of the Interactive Multimedia Training

program. Use the Self-Checks to prepare for the online test. Then, visit the Customer Support

Testing Center to complete your training.

Accessing the Customer Support Testing Center

To access the Customer Support Testing Center, launch a web browser such as Microsoft Internet

Explorer and enter the following URL:

http://www.officeprinting.xerox.com/testing

When to Take the Test

The online test covers the Overview, Setup, and Care sections of the training module. You should

take the online test immediately after completing the Care worksheet.

If you have already completed and passed the online tests for the Phaser 2135 Customer Support

Training, take the online Phaser 7300-Phaser 2135 Differences Test after completing thePhaser

7300-Phaser 2135 Differences Guide.

About the Online Test

During the test, only one question appears on the screen. You cannot jump ahead to see other

questions, or scroll back to change answers. Manuals that are normally available (for example,

the Phaser 7300 Color Printer Service Manual)may be used as resources when taking the test.

Test results are provided immediately. When a test failure occurs, review topics are suggested

based on the questions missed. If you fail a test three times, you should contact a Xerox Customer

Support Training representative at (503) 685-4400 (North America only).

An account name and password are required to access the Customer

Support Testing Center. These are included in your welcome letter, which

is mailed separately.
