Before Your First Use
Carefully unpack the appliance and remove all packaging materials.
Remove the cooking plates and wash in warm soapy water or place in
the dishwasher. We recommend a “trial run” at a high temperature to
eliminate any protective substance or oil that may have been used for
packing and shipping. Set the UPPER and LOWER plate temperature
to 450°F and run for 15 minutes. You may notice some smoking coming
from your Tri-Grill during this initial phase.
WARNING: Do not immerse the appliance, cord or plug in water. Never
operate this appliance without the grill plates locked into position on the
main housing. See “Assembling Plates" and "Removing Plates on pages
13 - 14.
To remove any dust that may have accumulated during packaging,
wipe the exterior with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use harsh or abrasive
cleansers on any part of the appliance.
Your Wolfgang Puck Tri-Grill is a versatile appliance that allows you to
grill food with the plates in three different positions. Your Tri-Grill comes
with three plates, two ribbed grilling plates and one flat griddle plate.
The ribbed grill plate with drip holes and the flat griddle plate can only
be used in the LOWER plate position. The solid ribbed grill plate can only
be used in the UPPER position.
Your grill is also equipped with two independent thermostats allowing
you to control the temperature for each plate. For example, you can
open the Tri-Grill to the DUAL position and set one plate to 350°F,
and the other to 425°F. This is ideal when making pancakes or crepes
on the griddle plate, while searing sausage or bacon on the grill plate.
In the CONTACT position both plates come in contact with food for
cooking in half the time it would normally take. The FIXED position is
perfect for melting cheese on open-faced sandwiches or hamburgers.
Place your Tri-Grill on a flat,
level, stable surface. Your Tri-Grill
can be used in three different
configurations. The ADJUSTMENT
LEVER (see Fig. 1) allows you to
select between CONTACT, DUAL,
and FIXED. Ensure that prior to
preheating this appliance that you
have the desired plates locked into
place.
WARNING: To prevent a serious
burn injury, always ensure that
your Tri-Grill is unplugged and has
completely cooled prior to removing
or adding plates. Always dry plates
thoroughly prior to installing on the
unit.
Do not use metal utensils as they
will scratch the nonstick coating,
use only nylon or plastic utensils.

INCORRECT
Grilling in CONTACT Position
Cooking in the CONTACT position (see Fig. 3)
allows both the LOWER and UPPER plate to
contact the food. Food cooks much faster than
traditional open grill cooking. Grease drains away
to the REMOVABLE DRIP TRAY located below
the LOWER plate.
The CONTACT position is best used with thick,
crusty breads, such as French, Italian, and
focaccia. The top grill plate will contact and
grill a Panini to perfection in about 3 minutes
(depending on the bread, filling, and personal
taste). The CONTACT position can also be used
to grill a variety of food items, such as meats,
poultry, fish, and vegetables. Always preheat
your Tri-Grill in the closed position as shown in
figure 3 and be sure that both you UPPER plate
and LOWER plate temperatures are set to the
desired temperature.
WARNING! Open the grill using the COOL TOUCH HANDLE only, being
careful not to touch any hot surfaces such as the housing or grill plates.
We recommend the use of oven mitts or potholders to prevent the risk
of injury. Note: Extreme care must be used when operating this appliance
as surface temperatures get extremely hot.
Place items to be cooked on the LOWER grill plate. Lower the
UPPER PLATE HOUSING and cook the food according to desired
temperature or doneness. Do not apply excessive force to close the
UPPER PLATE HOUSING.
When you have finished using your appliance, disconnect the plug
from the wall and allow the unit to cool completely before cleaning.
Ensure that the REMOVABLE DRIP TRAY
is in position under the LOWER plate to
allow grease to fall into the drawer (see
Fig. 4 for correct position). Do not allow
the REMOVABLE DRIP TRAY to protrude
from the back of the unit (see Fig. 5). We
recommend adding 3/4 of a cup of water
to the REMOVABLE DRIP TRAY to help
minimize smoking.
Plug into a 120-volt 60 HZ AC grounded
outlet only. For faster preheating keep your
Tri-Grill in the closed position. Set the UPPER
and LOWER plate temperature dials to the
desired setting. The temperatures can be
set in 25 degree increments. The display
will show PREHEAT during the preheating
process and will change to READY once the
set temperature is reached.

Figure 6
Grilling in FIXED Position
The FIXED position is best used when you
do not want the UPPER plate to come in
contact with your food. Use at the end of
the cooking process when you want to
melt cheese or heat a sauce on top of your
cooked item, or when cooking delicate items
that you do not want compressed.
WARNING! Open the grill using the COOL TOUCH HANDLE only, being
careful not to touch any hot surfaces such as the housing or grill plates.
We recommend the use of oven mitts or potholders to prevent the risk
of injury.
Ensure that your REMOVABLE DRIP TRAY is in position under the
LOWER plate to allow grease to fall into the drawer (see Fig. 4 for
correct position). Do not allow the REMOVABLE DRIP TRAY to
protrude from the back of the unit (see Fig. 5). We recommend
adding 3/4 of a cup of water to the REMOVABLE DRIP TRAY to help
minimize smoking.
Plug into a 120-volt 60 HZ AC grounded outlet only. For faster
preheating keep your Tri-Grill in the closed position. Set the UPPER
and LOWER plate temperature dials to the desired setting. The
temperatures can be set in 25 degree increments. The display will
show PREHEAT during the preheating process and will change to
READY once the set temperature is reached.
Lift up the UPPER PLATE HOUSING until it is fully open. Add your
ingredients to the LOWER plate and while holding the ADJUSTMENT
LEVER in the FIXED position gently lower the UPPER PLATE
HOUSING until the top housing locks into place. To level the UPPER
PLATE HOUSING over your food use an oven mitt to push down on
the front of the UPPER PLATE HOUSING.
There is only one position in FIXED mode. Do not force the UPPER
PLATE HOUSING down while in FIXED mode as you can damage the
ADJUSTMENT LEVER. When you wish to return to any other mode
from FIXED, simply move the ADJUSTMENT LEVER to the CONTACT
or DUAL position and close the grill.

Grilling in DUAL Position
In this position your grill will open flat
doubling the total cooking area of the
Tri-Grill. You can also substitute the
LOWER grill plate with the LOWER
griddle plate which is located in
the storage slot at the back of this
appliance (see Fig. 8). The griddle
plate is perfect for grilling pancakes,
eggs, hash browns or even delicate
crepes. When cooking on one plate,
only use the LOWER plate.
WARNING! Open the grill using the front handle only, being careful
not to touch any hot surfaces such as the housing or grill plates. We
recommend the use of oven mitts or potholders to prevent the risk
of injury. Note: Extreme care must be used when operating this
appliance as surface temperatures get extremely hot.
Once preheated, set the ADJUSTMENT LEVER to the DUAL position.
Open the top housing by the COOL TOUCH HANDLE until is lays
completely flat.
Ensure that your REMOVABLE
DRIP TRAY is in position under
the LOWER plate to allow grease
to fall into the drawer (see Fig. 4
for correct position). Do not allow
the REMOVABLE DRIP TRAY to
protrude from the back of the
unit (see Fig. 5). We recommend

•
Be sure to always wash the cooking plates and drip tray after each use
to remove any residue that may have accumulated.
Do not use sharp objects or attempt to cut food on top of the grill
plates.
Always preheat your Tri-Grill until the READY text appears in the
display and a short beep sounds before placing your food on the
plates. Have all ingredients in place before cooking starts.
Do not use metal utensils, as this may damage the nonstick surface of
the grill plates.
If additional cooking is desired, lower the UPPER PLATE HOUSING to
preserve the heat while you prepare the additional ingredients.
Let food cool slightly before eating. Cheese especially, becomes very
hot. Soft or melted fillings will firm slightly.
For cheeseburgers, simply grill the hamburgers in the CONTACT or
DUAL position. Once complete, open the grill and add cheese. Then
