Section 1 Introduction
How the machine works:
The Vac Pac (VP6 and VP10) is a portable back pack vacuum cleaner intended for
commercial use.
The appliance is strapped to the operators back using a harness allowing the
operator to clean without having to move the appliance manually. The machine
uses a single motor in a canister with a hose and wand with multiple attachments
for various applications. The machine has two primary systems, the filtration system
and the vacuum system.
The filtration system consists of a micro (paper) bag a micro-Tex (cloth) bag and a
motor filter. An optional high efficiency filter kit is also available filtering at 99.98% at
0.3 microns.
The vacuum system consists of the canister body and single stage flow through
vacuum motor, there is no internal circuit breaker, the motor is protected by an
in-line fuse and a thermal cut-off switch for overload/overheat protection.

Section 4 General Maintenance
The Vac Pac is simple to maintain, the most important step to optimal performance of
the machine is to always use the cloth and micro paper filter together. The motor filter
in the canister can only be changed by removing the motor keeping the cloth bag
clean and changing the paper bag when full will prolong the life of the filter.
The vacuum motor is a flow trough type in which the air flows though the motor for
cooling recovering water with the Vac Pac will damage the motor.
To change the filter the motor must be removed, using a #1 Philips screw driver
remove the two black screws from the canister and pull the filter out through the bot-
tom of the machine, reverse the steps to replace the filter.
The Vac Pac when operating normally should produce 70 to 90 inches of lift
depending on the altitude.

Section 5 Electrical troubleshooting Schematic
The electrical system of the Vac Pac is simply switch operated, power in power out
trouble shooting principles are applied.
The entire machine is operated with one switch and protected by an in-line fuse and
thermal cut-off switch.

Section 6 Vacuum System Troubleshooting
Symptom:
Vacuum motor runs no suction:
Check for full bag or clogged hose, wand and accessory tool.
Vacuum motor runs for a while with weak suction then cuts off, this is caused
by the motor over heating above 170° F. When this occurs the vacuum motor is
not getting enough air flowing through it to keep it cool (flow through type).
Check for full bag or clogged hose, wand or accessory tool.
Yes The bag is full, or system is clogged, change bag or clear clogged
hose wand or accessory tool.
No If this condition has occurred frequently the motor may cut off at a
cooler temperature which indicates the thermal cut-off switch has
degraded over time due to frequent tripping. Replace the fuse
assembly which includes the thermal switch.

Vacuum System Troubleshooting
Vacuum runs but trips the circuit breaker in the building.
1. Using an amp clamp set on AC amperes and a current splitter at the wall outlet, turn the vacuum
motor on and check the reading, if the motor runs higher than 12 amps check the voltage at the
outlet if the voltage under load is less than 110 VAC the motor is starving for voltage and is
pulling excess amps to compensate. If the motor runs.at 8 to 12 amps and the wall breaker still
pops the breaker is weak and should be replaced.
If the amps are consistently above 15 when the wall breaker pops the motor needs to be
inspected for faults.
Once the determination has been made whether the circuit breaker is the issue or
the motor needs to be looked at, access to the vac motor is necessary.
10
Vacuum System Troubleshooting
To access the motor the machine needs to be disassembled following these steps.
1. Using a standard flat screwdriver Remove the four screws holding the harness to the housing
taking care not to lose the spacers on the bottom of the harness.
2. With the harness removed turn the housing upside down and remove the diffuser foam from the
bottom of the unit. You will see the plastic diffuser, remove the two small #1 Philips screws hold-
ing it to the motor.
3. On the housing there are three gray caps covering the motor mount screws, using a flat screw
driver remove the caps exposing the # 3 Philips head screws.
4. While holding the rubber well nuts inside on the motor, remove the screws releasing the motor
from the housing.
5. Disconnect the white switch wire from the thermal switch and the white cord wire from the motor
remove the motor from the housing.
