1Introduction
1.1 About these instructions
General The language of the original operating instructions is Ger-
man. All other languages of these instructions are transla-
tions of the original instructions. These instructions are an
integral part of the product. They must be kept readily
available at the place where the product is installed. Strict
adherence to these instructions is a precondition for the
proper use and correct operation of the product.
These instructions correspond to the relevant version of
the product and the underlying safety standards valid at
the time of going to print.
Save these operating instructions for future use.
Symbols used The following symbols are used in these instructions to
designate notes:
Use of highlighting In these instructions, the following types of highlighting
are used to designate operating instructions, result
descriptions, lists, references and control elements:
1. Numbered lists designate step-for-step operating
instructions.
➥This symbol designates the result of an action which
has been carried out.
•When this symbol appears before operating instructions,
it designates preconditions for carrying out the sequence
of action. In paragraphs, this symbol designates lists with-

This note warns about dangers that could, in the event

Carefully read the following sections to avoid dangers
which could arise due to improper handling of the Basic
Control.
2.1 General safety instructions

2.2 Application (intended use)
The Wilo-Geniax Basic Control is a device for room user
interface. It is used to measure the actual room tempera-
ture as well as for the display and setting of the room tar-
get temperature. It may only be used as a single-room
control device together with the Wilo-Geniax Decentral-
ised Pump System.
Any other utilisation or any utilisation that exceeds this is
not considered to be an intended use.
Intended use also includes adherence to these operating
instructions.
Warning.
This device is not intended for use by persons (includ-
ing children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the device by a person responsible
for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do
not play with the device. There is a danger that per-
sons can die as a result of overheating or undercooling
of the room.
• Children or people who are not able to understand
the dangers should not be left unattended.

3.1 Display
The display shows the room target temperature and the
system status.
System status The symbol shown in the display indicates the operating
mode of the Genial-System (see section 6 Explanation of
symbols [page 10]). The system status can be an active
time profile, a manual intervention or an automatically
triggered operating mode (e.g., summer operation, main-
tenance, fault).
Room target
temperature
The room target temperature is the temperature which is
currently being maintained in the room.
3.2 Operating concept
The Basic Control is operated using the navigation button.
3.2.1 Navigation button
The navigation button can be actuated in two directions:

•You use the navigation button to change the room target
temperature.
3.2.2 Operational readiness
In order to make settings at the Basic Control, the device
has to be put into operational readiness by pressing a but-
ton.
•Press the navigation button to put the Basic Control into
operational readiness.
➥The display lights up and settings can be made at the
Basic Control.
If no entry occurs within 30 seconds, the device
automatically ends the operational readiness
and switches the display off.

4 How does the temperature control work?
Fundamentals The Wilo-Geniax Basic Control room user interface can
only be used together with a Geniax Central Control. You
can use the Basic Control to adjust the room temperature
to suit your personal needs. In normal operation, the heat-
ing sequence proceeds in accordance with the time pro-
file stored in the Geniax Central Control central user
interface. There are several time areas defined in the time
profile during which the room is heated up or kept at a
lower temperature [Fig. 3: Representation of the heating
sequence during a day in accordance with the specifica-
tions from the Geniax Central Control (time profile with

During installation of the Geniax system, the time
profiles are individually adapted to your heating
habits and the spatial situation. These settings can
only be changed at a Geniax Central Control cen-
tral user interface.

Intervention You can deactivate the intended time profile for the room
with the Basic Control for short periods and manually set a
desired temperature. A change of this sort is called an
intervention. The deviating temperature that is entered
will be maintained until the end of the time area defined in
the Geniax Central Control central user interface. Thenthe
heating sequence will again follow the preset time profile
