The railoc is a safety component and not a touchdown device!
It is not permitted to touch down the car or counterweight!
This can lead to damage to the basic body, which requires replacement!

Assembly and maintenance instructions railoc
0. General
0.1 Intended use
The railoc electrical safety space is used for the automatic creation of safety spaces and
clearances on the car roof (see EN81-20 Item 5.2.5.7) and/or in the shaft pit (see EN81-20 Item
5.2.5.8) if these are not available naturally due to the geometry of the building structure and/or
the nature of the lift installation.
0.2 Preliminary remark
These instructions refer to the installation, maintenance and operation of the railoc electrical
safety space.
railoc has a type approval (LIFTINSTITUUT, certificate no. NL17-400-1002-246-01). Within the
framework of this type examination, the suitability of railoc for the automatic creation of
temporary shelters as well as the associated safety concept was examined and proven..
0.3 Liability and warranty
railoc is only to be used in a technically perfect condition - in compliance with these instructions
- in accordance with the intended use, safety and risk awareness.
In the event of improper use or manipulation of the railoc, the type examination certificate of the
Liftinstituut and any claims with regard to guarantee and/or liability towards the Liftinstituut and
the manufacturer of the railoc expire.
Non-observance of these instructions and unauthorised use can cause danger to
property and persons!
0.4 Safety Instructions
The safety of the railoc fitter is to be guaranteed on his own responsibility. The basic
professional qualification of the person is assumed.
These instructions must always be followed to avoid damage and injury to persons involved and
the device.

Particularly important instructions and dangers with regard to physical and mechanical damage
are marked with the following symbol:
The operating instructions are part of the certified machine and must always be available on site!
1. Device description
1.1 Design and scope of deliver
Main unit:
Pawl with drive on vertically movable carriage, support console with two energy-consuming
cellular foam buffers Ø100x80 which are connected to the guide rail by means of clips and
notched pins in a non-positive and positive-locking manner.
Incl. 2 types of clips, grooved pins, drilling template and pre-assembled connection cables (10m).
Signal lamp, red/ green:
Indicator light for optical visualisation of the protected area protection status (red=protected area
unsafe; green=protected area safe) in a separate housing with magnet on the back for clearly
visible fastening in the shaft, pre-assembled with the main unit on 10m cable (extendable).
Standard stops for car and counterweight:
One stop each for car and counterweight, which can be screwed under commercially available
guide shoes.
Optional accessories:
Extension cable for indicator light, 10m. With connection coupling for connecting several
extension cables.
Inspection switch with spring finger as actuation, mountable on the main unit. Swivels via a
linkage, when the railoc is activated, into the projection of the travel range and stops the travel
before the stop hits the railoc.

1.2 Functionality
The general function of the railoc, independent of its position in the shaft, is described below:
railoc is mounted according to these instructions and connected to the lift controller.
If a landing door is opened manually in order to enter the car roof or shaft pit, the additional
contact on the emergency release of this door is activated (NC contact).
The circuit to the input of a safety relay is interrupted by the normally closed contact.
The safety relay switches, the 24V supply voltage from the railoc actuator drops out.
The railoc actuator extends the pawl mechanically via spring force, into the travel path of
the car or counterweight.
The travel path is blocked, the protective space is mechanically secured (red light=off /
green light =on).
The system can now only be moved in inspection mode, an inspection limit switch stops the
inspection travel approx. 50cm before reaching the pawl.
After finishing the work in the lift shaft and closing the shaft door, the lift system is RESET.
The safety relay switches, the railoc actuator is energised and moves the pawl to the rest
position by motor.
The elevator is now back in normal operation.
The car or counterweight must not be placed on the railoc not even for test
purposes. The railoc represents a mechanical stop for emergencies -
components involved can be damaged when the car or counterweight is placed
on the railoc!

1.3 Mounting variants
For overhead mounting, the following must be ensured
that the rail track is protected against lift-off
is secured by the bottom of the pit!
The railoc is compatible with all commercially available solid profile rail types with back
dimensions of min. 45mm up to ≤90mm!
The railoc can be used both on the guide rail of the
car and on that of the counterweight. In addition, the
design allows overhead installation, i.e. the car or
counterweight can also be limited in their respective
upward travel path.
Protective space above: red positions
Under the counterweight
Above the car
Lower shelter: green positions
Under the car
Above the counterweight

1.4 External components and boundary conditions
Safety relay:
The railoc must be controlled via a safe relay
(SIL3). Suitable for this purpose are for example:
Schmersal, SRB301 S
Reset unit:
The tripped safety relay must be reset by means of
a button with removable actuation, e.g. key
Emergency unlocking monitoring:
The opening of a landing door via the emergency
unlocking device must be detected by the system
without any doubt. Actuation of this function results
in the activation of the railoc.
Inspection limit switch (optional):
The inspection limit switch limits the travel path in
safe condition and interrupts the inspection travel
before hitting the railoc.

Boundary conditions for the use of railoc
The sum of cabin weight (P) and load capacity (Q) must not exceed 2500kg.
The nominal speed must not exceed 1.0m/s.
A sufficiently mechanically stable stop on the car or counterweight must be provided. (2
standard solutions are included in the scope of delivery).
If the railoc is installed overhead, the rail track must be secured in its Z-axis against lifting.
Example solutions: Angle at rail foot and pit bottom, support against the shaft ceiling, etc.
It must be ensured that the adjoining building interfaces have sufficient strength => shaft
ceiling, pit bottom.
railoc is not permitted for hollow rails.
1.5 General notes on function
railoc is always energised in normal operation!
The red indicator light is only active from the time the landing door is opened to a safe
condition.
The railoc is only activated after a safety relay has been triggered and is only deactivated
when the relay is reset.
If the car is at one of the final stops, the railoc must not extend.
