Your TOTAL CONTROL 8 remote can replace up to
eight standard infrared remote controls and is
preprogrammed with codes to operate virtually any
Television, Video Recorder, DVD Player, Satellite
Receiver / Cable Converter, CD Player, Amplifier and
Tuner.
This manual will assist you in setting up the TOTAL
CONTROL 8 so please be sure to keep it.

Introduction

1. LED / POWER
The LED (under POWER key) will blink when a key
is pressed. It will also blink twice after a code is
entered. The Power key operates just as it did on
your original remote.
2. SETUP key
The SETUP key is used to set up the TOTAL
CONTROL 8 remote with your devices.

3. DEVICE KEYS
These keys select the device to be operated.
4. Number Keys
The Number keys (1 - 9, 0) operate just as they did
on your original remote control. In AUD mode,
the number (1 –9, 0) keys may provide
(if available on your original remote) an INPUT
function (TUNER, CD etc.).
5. Channel +/-
The Channel +/- keys operate just as they did on
your original remote control.
6. Volume +/-
The Volume +/- keys operate just as they did on
your original remote control.
7. MENU
The MENU key operates the same function it did
on your original remote control.
8. MUTE
The MUTE key operates just as it did on your
original remote control.
9. Directional keys
If available on your original remote control, these
keys will allow you to navigate through the menu.
On some TV’s you may have to press CH+/- and
VOL+/- keys OR the color keys (red, green, yellow,
blue) to navigate through the menu, depending
on your model of TV.
10. ENTER
In menu mode this key will confirm your choice.
On some devices you can confirm your menu
option simply by pressing MENU.

11. -/-- key
The -/-- key (or 10 key function, if available on
your original remote control) is used for one/two
digit input switching.
12. AV key
The AV key operates the same function it did on
your original remote control. In AUD mode the AV
key will give you the possibility for direct input
selection if your original remote has one single
key for input selection.
13. Transport keys (PLAY, STOP etc.)
These keys operate the transport functions (PLAY,
FF, REW etc.) of your device. To prevent accidental
recording, the RECORD key must be pressed twice
to start recording.
14. Teletext/FASTEXT keys
These keys are used to operate the main teletext
functions. Of course, your Television must have
teletext capability. For a more detailed
explanation of teletext and fastext, please refer to
the manual of your television. Remember,
different televisions control teletext and fastext
functions in different ways. Not all of the teletext
functions may be available on your particular
model.
The TOTAL CONTROL 8 remote requires 2 new
AAA/LR03 alkaline batteries.
1. Lift off the cover by pulling the battery
compartment cover tab.
2. Install two fresh AAA/LRO3 batteries as indicated by
the illustration in the battery compartment.
3. Close the battery cover.

Example: to set up the TOTAL CONTROL 8 for
yourTelevision:
1. Switch your Television on (not on standby).
2. Find your device code in the code section (page
73 –94) Codes are listed by brand name. The
most popular code is listed first. Make sure your
television is switched on (not on standby).
3. Press and release the TV key on your
TOTAL CONTROL 8
4. Then press and hold down the SETUP
key and keep it pressed until the red
light (under the POWER key) blinks twice.
5. Enter your 4-digit code, using the
number keys. The red light blinks twice.
6. Now, point the TOTAL CONTROL 8
towards your Television and press the
POWER key. If your Television switches
off, the TOTAL CONTROL 8 is installed.
- Most TV’s do not switch back on pressing the
POWER key, please try pressing a “number”key to
switch your TV back on.
- If your device does not respond, follow steps 2
through 6 with each code listed for your brand. If
none of the codes listed for your brand operate your
device, then try the Search Method described on
page 6 - 7, even if your brand is not listed at all.
- Some codes are quite similar. If your device does not
respond or is not functioning properly with one of
the codes, try another code listed under your brand.

- If the original remote control from your Video
Recorder / DVD player did not have a POWER key,
press PLAY instead of POWER during step 6.
- To set up your other devices, follow the same
instructions above, only press the appropriate device
key during step 3.
- Remember to press the correct device key before
operating your device. Only one device can be
assigned to a device key.

If your device does not respond to the TOTAL
CONTROL 8 remote after you have tried all the codes
listed for your brand, you may need to search for your
code. This method may also work if your brand is not
listed at all.

Example: to search for your Television Code:
1. Switch your Television on (not on standby).
2. Press the TV key on your TOTAL
CONTROL 8.
3. Press and hold down the SETUP key
until the red light (LED under POWER
key) on the TOTAL CONTROL 8 blinks
twice.
4. Press 9 9 1, the red light will
blink twice.
5. Next, press POWER.
6. Aim the TOTAL CONTROL 8 at your
Television. Now press CH+ over and over,
until your Television turns off (every time
you press the CH+ key the TOTAL
CONTROL 8 will send out a POWER signal
from the next code contained in the
memory). You may have to press this
key many times (up to 150 times) so
please be patient.
If you skip past a code, you can go to the
previous code(s) by pressing the CH- key.
Remember to keep pointing the TOTAL
CONTROL 8 at your Television while
pressing this key.
7. As soon as your television turns off, press
SETUP to store the code.
- Most TV’s do not switch on pressing the POWER key.
Please try pressing a “number”key to switch your TV
back on.
- If you cannot control your Television properly, please
continue the Search Method, you may be using the
wrong Code.
- To search for the code for another device follow the
instructions above only press the appropriate device
key instead of TV during step 2.
- If the original remote control of your Video recorder
or DVD player does not have a POWER key, press
PLAY instead of POWER during step 5.

If you want, you can change any of the device keys to
operate another type of device.
Example 1:
To program a Television on the AUX 2 key
(for example), you need to change the AUX 2 key
into a TV key, so press:
The AUX 2 key has now become a TV key.
Now enter the Set Up code for your TV
by pressing:

To program a Television on the SAT key (for
example), you need to change the SAT key into a TV
key, so press:
The SAT key has now become a TV key.
Now enter the Set Up code for your TV
by pressing:
To reset the AUX 2 key to its original mode,

Problem and solution:
* Red light (LED under POWER key) does not blink
when you press a key?
- Replace batteries with 2 fresh, new AAA alkaline
batteries.
* The TOTAL CONTROL 8 does not respond after
pressing a key?
- Make sure you are using new batteries and are
pointing the TOTAL CONTROL 8 at your device.
* The TOTAL CONTROL 8 does not operate your
device(s)?
- A) Try all the codes listed for your brand.
B) Try the Code search on page 6 - 7.
* Your brand is not listed in the TOTAL CONTROL 8
code section?
- Try the Code search on page 6 - 7.
* The TOTAL CONTROL 8 is not performing commands
properly?
- You may be using the wrong code. Try repeating the
Direct Set-Up using another code listed under your
brand or start the search method over again to
locate the proper code.
* Problems changing channels?
- Enter the channel number exactly as you would on
your original remote.
* Is the Video not recording?
- As a safety feature on your TOTAL CONTROL 8, you
must press the Record key twice.
