sor”. Consi er that the aging of the sensor involves an increase in its sensitivity, therefore non perio ic calibration
an replacement of the cartri ge increases consi erably the probability of false etections.
After a real exposure excee ing the sensor operating limits (10,000 ppm), the etector must be teste with the
sample gas, as explaine in the paragraph: "CALIBRATION CHECK".
Periodical testing: for checking effective functioning of the etector, we a vise to carry out working tests every 6-
12 months, with the specific Refrigerant Gas/Air mixture as explaine on chapter “Tests and Calibration”.
Note: the etector is not able to etect gas leaks occurring outsi e the room where it is installe , neither insi e
walls nor un er the floor.
Important: The semiconductor sensor operates only in presence of Oxygen. o not use pure gases or a
lighter directly on the sensor since they could damage it irremediably.
Warning: Consi er, that life an performance of the sensor can be greatly re uce , in extreme con itions of hu-
mi ity, high temperatures, or pollute environments with high levels of organic vapours or flammable substances
(in particular solvents), or with very high concentrations of refrigerant gas.
Some substances cause a total loss or permanent reduction of sensitivity. Avoid contacts of the sensor with va-
pours of Silicone compounds (present in paints and sealants). High concentrations of corrosive substances such as
Hydrogen sulphide, Sulfur oxides, Chlorine and Hydrochloric acid, can destroy the sensor. Even excessive vibra-
tion or mechanical shock can damage the sensor.
TEST and CALIBRATION
PAY ATTENTION: This procedure has to be made with extreme attention and by authori ed and trained people;
because starting this procedure it will increase mA Output causing the activation of connected alarm devices to the
gas Central Unit.
Operation Check, Zero Adjust and Calibration: are ifferent co e protecte functions. To access these functions
is necessary to insert the relevant Code through the keys F1 an F2. To have the key pressure recognize , hol
pressing it for aroun a secon (until the Green Led doesn't switch off for a moment). Then the next key can be presse . In
case of error all it takes is waiting aroun 10 secon s an the sequence is automatically erase .
Calibration Kit, Sample Gas Bottles (for Calibration Check and Calibration) please, only using a mixture refriger-
ant gas in Air (20 9% Oxygen) Semiconductor sensors cannot work without Oxygen. It is possible to use ei-
ther the isposable one litre cylin ers with a just valve or the high pressure ones with re uction gear. Is also nec-
essary the Tecnocontrol Calibration Kit mod TC014 (ma e of stainless steel). To ensure that the gas reaches the
sensor, use stainless steel re ucers, Teflon tubes or other compatible materials, which o not isperse the gas.

“INSTRUMENT OPERATION CHECK” (Check Code: F2, F2, F1, F1): this function allows to effect a functional test
of the evice. After having put the system in safety an inserte the "Code Test", all Le are switche off. Then they
will switch on in sequence, the Le , from the yellow up to the re . At the en all the Le s will remain lighte for
aroun 5 secon s, then the instrument returns at the con itions of normal operation. It is a visable to perform this
operation every 6-12 months accor ing to the use.
Note: The operation is not executable if the Red LED is on or if the mA output is more than 12mA (500ppm).
“ZERO A JUST” ( ero Code: F2, F1, F1, F2): this function is to a just the Zero sensor an can be one in clean
air only (environment without the presence of refri erant as or other pollutants), an after at least 48 hours that the detector
is powered (even if the detector is turned off for a few hours) After having inserte the " ero Code", as a con-
firmation of the operation carrie out there will be 1 flash of the Re Le an the output will become 4,0mA. We
suggest performing this operation, only if require , after the installation or after the change of the cartri ge an eve-
ry 6-12 months base on the environmental con itions.
Note: This operation is not executable if mA output is more than 7,2mA (200ppm) you shoul perform the "Calibra-
tion" or replacing the "Cartri ge".
“CALIBRATION CHECK” (no Code required): this operation allow to effect a real functional test of the instrument
with gas after the "Calibration" routine, or after the installation (after at least 48 hours that the detector is pow-
ered). The “Calibration Check” routine shoul be one uring the perio ic maintenances because this is the only
metho to verify the instrument real functioning.
The “Calibration Check” shoul be one using sample gas bottles with the gas mixture of refrigerant accor ing to
the mo el. Insert the TC014 over the sensor hol er, a just the sample gas bottle valve as the flow meter in icates
aroun 0.2 l/mins (see Fig.3). Wait aroun 3 minutes, then verify with a voltmeter connecte to the Test-Point (see
Fig.2), the value reaches a value between 90 and 150mV, [correspon ing to 12mA (±3) output, an the central unit
shoul be isplay about 500ppm (±200)]. If the value result is more ifferent, it is necessary to recalibrate the sen-
sor (see “Calibration”). Then close the gas bottle an remove TC014, after mA output, will slowly ecrease up to 4mA.
“CALIBRATION” (Calibration Code: F2, F2, F2, F1, F2, F1): this function allows completely recalibrate the sensor.
Warning: to guarantee that no errors of elaboration happen, the rare possibility exists that during the Calibration
the yellow LED switch off every 8 seconds, in this case interrupt the procedure, switch off and witch on the instru-
