OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION: THIS FURNACEIS APPROVED FOR FUEL OIL NOT HEAVIER THAN NO. 2
DO NOT USE GASOLINE, CRANKCASE OIL, OR ANY OIL CONTAINING GASOLINE
NEVER BURN GARBAGE, REFUSE OR PAPER IN THE HEATING UNIT.
NEVER LEAVE COMBUSTIBLE OR OTHER MATERIALS AROUND OR NEAR THE FURNACE.
IDENTIFY THE LOCATION OF YOUR BURNER / FURNACE POWER SWITCH
OIL BURNER OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
• UseNo2furnaceoilONLY
• Donotusegasoline,crankcaseoil,oranyoilcontaininggasoline.
• Donotattempttostarttheburnerifexcessoilhasaccumulated,whenthefurnaceisfullofvapor,
orifthecombustionchamberishot.
• PresstheburnerrelayresetbuttonONLYONCE;iftheburnerfailstostart,callan
OilBurnerTechnician.
• Iftheoilburneristobeshutoffforanyperiodoftime,shuttheoilvalveOFFattheoiltank.
• Donotadjustortamperwiththefurnaceoranyofthecontrols
• Donotburngarbageorpaperinthisunit.
• Neverleavepaper,rags,orothercombustiblesaroundthefurnace.
• Onlyqualied,orwhererequiredbylaw,alicensedtechnicianshallset–upthisunitand
adjustcontrols.
• DONOTSTARTTHEOILBURNERUNLESSTHEBLOWERDOORISSECUREDINPLACE.
TO TURN THE BURNER OFF
• Turnthemainoilburnerswitchto“OFF“
• Setthethermostatasfarbelowroomtemperatureaspossible.
IF BURNER IS TO BE SHUT OFF FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD.
• Turnmainoilburnerswitchto“OFF”.
• Closealloilsupplyvalves.
• Theheatingsystemshouldbecheckedandcleanedifnecessary.
Note: Always keep oil supply valve shut off if burner is shut down for an extended period of time.
BURNER FAILS TO OPERATE
Alwayscallaqualiedtechnician.
Thetroublemaybe:
• Raiseyourthermostatto5ºC(10ºF)abovepresentroomtemperature
• Makesureyour“OilBurner”powerswitchisinthe“ON”position
• Ifyouhearahumfromtheoilburner,andthemotorhasnotstarted,presstheresetbuttononthe
burnermotoronceonly.
• Blownfuse/“tripped”breakerinelectricalpanel
• Thermostatmaybesetbelowroomtemperature.
• Burnerrelay(combustioncontrol)mayhavetobe“reset”(pressresetonceonly)
• Oilvalvemaybeclosed.
• Oilsupplymaybetoolow.
• Blockeduesensor“tripped”
• Iftheoilburnerfailstostartorrunsforonlyafewseconds,callaqualiedservicetechnician.

RESTARTING BURNER AFTER EXTENDED SHUT DOWN.
Thecompleteoilburnershouldbecheckedandservicedbyaqualiedtechnician.
• Checkoilpumpstrainer
• Replaceoilltercartridge
• Checkelectrodes
• Oilburnermotor(seelubricationsection)
• Restartburnerbyfollowinginstructionsin;“STARTINGTHEOILBURNER”section.
• Ifyourfurnacehasbeenshutoffforanextendedperiod–contactyourqualiedservicetechnician
forstart–up
SUMMER FAN OPERATION
Duringsummer,continuousaircirculationcanbeobtainedbypulling/slidingthemanualfanswitchfrom
the“Auto”positiontothe“On”position
DUAL AIR OPERATION
Thisfurnaceisequippedwithadual(two)speedblowersystemwhichallowspartialairdistribution
atalltimes.WhenthethermostatcallsforHeat,theOilBurnerstartsandtheHIGHspeedquickly
distributeswarmairthroughoutthehome.WhentheHIGHSPEEDstops,the“LOW”speedcontinues
operating,circulatingtheairtoeventhetemperaturethroughoutthehouse.Ifthe“LOW”speedfeature
isnotrequired/desired,operatethesmall“rocker”switchlocatedonthepowerjunctionbox.
MAINTENANCE
OIL FURNACE ANNUAL SERVICE
The oil burner and furnace should be thoroughly cleaned and serviced annually by a qualied service
technician, and where required by law, a licensed technician.
Thenozzleshouldbechangedannually-handlenozzlewithcaresothattheinsidesurfacetipisnot
scratched.Theelectrodesshouldbecleanedandadjusted(seeoilburnermanualwiththeoilburner).
LUBRICATION
Apply2–3dropsofSAE20–30NonDetergentoilONLYtotheoilport(s)locatedateitherendofthe
burnermotor.
Apply2–3dropsofSAE20–30NonDetergentoilONLYtotheoilportslocatedateitherendofthe
blowermotor.DO NOT OIL THE FAN BEARINGS!
CAUTION :
Beforecleaning,shutoffelectricalpowersupplytothefurnace.

CLEANING – OLM SERIES
Thisfurnaceshallbecleanedannually.Thisannualservicewillidentifyifdamagedorreplacementparts
arenecessary.
• Ifcleaningisrequired.Thefollowingstepsshouldbetaken.
• Disconnect(remove)uepipe.
• Removeuecollarpanellocatedattherearofthefurnace.
• Disconnecttheoillineandremovetheoilburnerfromthefurnace.
• Removebafefromsecondaryheatexchanger
• Cleanthesecondaryheatexchangerwithastiffbrushandvacuumcleanersuitableforthispurpose.
• Inspectheatexchangerpriortoreassembly
• Aftercleaningiscomplete,replacetheuebafe,collarplateandgasketswithNEW!
• Replacetheoilburner
• Atthebeginningoftheheatingseason,havethecompleteheatingsystemcheckedbyaqualied
mechanic,andwhererequiredbylaw,alicensedmechanic.
NOTE:WERECOMMENDTHATAQUALIFIEDMECHANICORWHEREREQUIREDBYLAW,
A LICENCED MECHANIC ONLY SHOULD PERFORM ALL SERVICE AND CLEANING OF YOUR
SUMMERAIREFURNACE!
AIR FILTER
Thisfurnaceshouldneverbeoperatedwithoutlters.
A DIRTY AIR FILTER CAUSES INEFFICIENCY AND HIGHER OPERATING COSTS
Cleanorreplacelterseachheatingseason,orasrequired.
FilterspecicationsfortheairlterinstalledinyourSummeraireoilredwarmairfurnace,
arelistedbelow.
DONOTSUBSTITUTE!
Note: Changing the type or size of lter used in your Summeraire furnace can seriously affect the
operation of the furnace!

USE OF FILTERS OTHER THAN THOSE SPECIFIED ABOVE, CAN CAUSE DANGEROUS
ELEVATION OF FURNACE TEMPERATURES – THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION !
DO NOT USE / INSTALL PLEATED TYPE AIR FILTERS IN THIS FURNACE !
