IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
WHEN USING ANY ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE, BASIC SAFETY
PRECAUTIONS SHOULD ALWAYS BE FOLLOWED, INCLUDING THE
FOLLOWING:
1 Read all instructions carefully before using the appliance.
2 This appliance is intended for household use only.
It is not suitable for commercial use such as staff
kitchen areas and other working environments.
3 Ensure that the appliance is always placed on a firm and flat
surface, away from the edge of the worktop. Do not place the
appliance onto a metal tray or metal surface whilst in use.
Do not place the appliance on, or near, a hot gas or electric
burner or in a heated oven. Do not operate the appliance with
wet hands or barefoot.
4 Keep the appliance and mains cable away from the edges of
worktops and out of reach of children. Route the cable so it
does not overhang, and cannot be tripped over or caught.
5 Do not let the mains cable run across an open space, such
as between a low power socket and a table, or across any
hot area, such as cooker. Heat may damage the mains cable.
6 The connections on both sides of the mains cable (the
appliance and a power socket) should never be strained. If
the mains cable is damaged it must be replaced by a qualified
person or service to avoid any hazards.
7 Do not use the appliance in a bathroom, near
water, or outdoors. Do not immerse any of the
parts (appliance, mains cable, plug) in water or
other liquids to protect against fire, electric shock
and personal injury.
8 Do not use the appliance if it is damaged or
malfunctioning. Do not leave the appliance
unattended whilst in use. Use and store it out of
reach of children.
9 This appliance must not be operated by an external timer or a
remote control system.
10 SQ Professional Ltd will not be held liable for eventual
damages to persons, animals or objects caused by incorrect
installation or deriving from improper, erroneous or
unreasonable use.
11 The top of the base unit
should always be kept dry,
especially around the connection area.
12 Before drying, disconnect the power supply; ensure that
the base unit
is completely dry before you reconnect the
appliance to power supply.
13 Pour the water out of the kettle slowly and carefully, do
not over tilt or tip the kettle too fast to prevent spillage and
splashing. Remove the kettle from the base unit
before
filling or pouring.
14 Do not move the kettle when it is switched on. Use extreme
caution when moving a kettle containing hot water.
15 Do not switch the kettle on unless it contains at least two cups
of water.
16 Avoid filling it up above the MAX mark to prevent the hot water
spewing out.
17 Always remove the kettle from the base unit
before you fill it
with water.
18 Always close the lid
and have the filter
in place before
you switch the kettle on. Do not open the lid
while the
water is boiling.
19 Avoid contact with steam while the water is boiling and after
the kettle is switched off.
20 Use the handle
and knobs
on the appliance and avoid
touching any hot surfaces.
21 The switch
should never be held fixed in the ON position
as this may cause damage to the switch-off mechanism.
22 Do not remove the kettle from the base unit
without
switching it off first. Unplug the base unit
when not in use.
23 Unplug the kettle from the power socket before cleaning
or removing any parts. Ensure that the kettle is completely
cooled down before cleaning and storing away. Keep the
kettle, base unit
, mains cable, and plug away from sources
of heat. Store in a dry place.
24 Do not use the kettle for any purpose other than
heating water.
25 Use the kettle only with the base unit
supplied (and vice
versa) and do not tamper with the connector in any way.

SCALDING
A SCALD HAZARD CAN LAST FOR A LONG TIME AFTER BOILING.
TAKE CARE WHEN OPENING THE LID AS STEAM WILL ESCAPE FROM
THE OPENING. IF THIS DOES HAPPEN, RUN COLD WATER OVER
THE AFFECTED AREA IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT STOP TO REMOVE
CLOTHING AND GET MEDICAL HELP QUICKLY.
BEFORE FIRST USE
Fill to the MAX mark, boil, discard the water, then rinse. Do
this three times, to remove manufacturing dust. Ensure that
the electrical connections are completely dry before using the
appliance.
SAFE HANDLING
1 Pour water from the kettle slowly to prevent splashing and
scalding with the hot water.
2 Fill the water from the top to help free the filter from limescale
build-up. There should always be a minimum amount of water in
the kettle before you switch it on (MIN mark on the water level
indicator ). Only boil the necessary amount of water at one
time, as this can save time and electricity.
