1Introduction

1.1 Foreword

The Altus NR2 can be used with SurvCE. The Altus NR2 driver is included in SurvCE

versions from 4.02 onwards however, Septentrio recommends to use version 5.02

or above. Using any Windows Mobile data collector, download the executable ﬁle

(SurvCE_WindowsMobile.exe) for installation. SurvPC may also be used on a Windows PC.

The SurvCE conﬁguration example in the following sections will detail how to:

•Install SurvCE/SurvPC

•Conﬁgure SurvCE

2Install SurvCE/SurvPC

2.1 Before installation

Make sure the PIN code on the micro SIM card to be used in the Altus NR2 has been

deactivated.

The easiest way to do this is by inserting the SIM card into a phone then deactivating

it. n most phones, this functionality can be found in a security settings or SIM card menu.

2.2 SurvCE installation: Windows Mobile

1. Power on the Windows Mobile device and connect it to the PC. Wait for Windows Mobile

Device Center to connect.

2. Once the PC connection to the Windows Mobile device has been established, double

click on the ‘SurvCE_WindowsMobile.exe’ ﬁle to begin the installation.

3. The installation will begin by transferring the ﬁles to the data collector. Agree to

the license and click next. When the transfer is complete, the data collector may be

disconnected from the PC.

2.3. SURVPC INSTALLATION: WINDOWS PC

4. On the Windows Mobile device, select to install SurvCE on ‘device’and hit continue.

After installation, click on the Windows start button and locate SurvCE. Double-click

the SurvCE icon to open the program.

5. SurvCE (Windows Mobile) should have installed correctly.

2.3 SurvPC Installation: Windows PC

Installation of SurvPC is straightforward. Download the ‘SurvPC_EngOnly_Setup.exe’ ﬁle.

Double-click to begin the installation and follow the on-screen prompts.

3 Conﬁgure SurvCE

3.1 Starting a new project

Open SurvCE, select a new job and name it. Select the appropriate job settings and continue

without connecting to the device.

Note that the unit may appear as APS-NR2 when using older versions of the Altus NR2

ﬁrmware

3.2. BLUETOOTH CONNECTION TO THE ALTUS NR2

3.2 Bluetooth connection to the Altus NR2

In the ‘Equip’tab, select ‘GPS Rover’to open the Rover setup menu. In the ‘Current’tab, select

‘Septentrio’then ‘Altus NR2’. Click on the ‘Comms’tab and select ‘Bluetooth’and ‘Find Devices’

to search for available Bluetooth devices.

Select the appropriate Bluetooth device, click on ‘Set Device PIN’, and set the PIN to ‘1234’.

Select the ‘Current’tab and click on the icon to show the Altus NR2 information. It will also

will conﬁrm that the Altus NR2 is connected and properly communicating via Bluetooth.

3.3. CONFIGURE THE ALTUS NR2 FOR RTK

3.3 Conﬁgure the Altus NR2 for RTK

Select the Receiver tab and enter the Antenna Height. In the RTK Tab, select Internal GSM

then click on the conﬁgure icon to the right of it. Click on the green arrow check button when

complete.

In the RTK tab, select NTRIP and click on the conﬁguration icon to the right of it. Enter the

NTRIP settings, hit the green check and select the appropriate Mountpoint from the source-

table. Click on the green arrow check button when complete.

3.4. VERIFYING THE CONFIGURATION

3.4 Verifying the Conﬁguration

Click on the green arrow check button to complete the RTK setup. To check the conﬁguration,

click on ‘Monitor SkyPlot’in the Equip menu. This will show the Altus NR2 in RTK mode if the

setup was performed properly.
