Introduction
"The Sandberg NightCam (referred to as
“the camera”) is a camera for your
computer that allows you to record live
pictures, take still images and let your
friends see you while chatting on the
Internet. Cameras always require good
lighting conditions to produce a clear
picture. However, the Sandberg NightCam is
equipped with Night Vision, so the picture is
always clear - even in dark rooms. The
camera is made of sturdy metal. It can be
turned in any direction and is mounted on a
flexible clip foot that can either be placed on
a flat surface or clipped on to a flat screen,
etc. The lens is made of glass, which
produces a clearer and more detailed picture
than plastic, as well as greater depth and
better sharpness."
Setup in Windows®98/Me
NB: Do not connect the camera yet.
1. Start Windows.
2. Insert the enclosed CD-ROM.
3. The setup program launches. Click
“Next”.
4. Select “Yes, I want to restart my
computer now” and click “Finish”.
5. Your computer will restart.
6. Connect the camera to your computer’s
USB port. It is then installed
automatically.
The camera is now installed and ready for
use.

Installation in Windows®2000
NB: Do not connect the camera yet.
1. Start Windows.
2. Insert the enclosed CD-ROM.
3. The setup program launches. Click
“Next”.
4. The message “The digital signature…”
appears. Click “Yes” to continue
installation. Click “Finish”.
5. Restart your computer.
6. Connect the camera to your computer’s
USB port. The message “The digital
signature…” appears. Click “Yes” to
continue installation.
7. The camera is then installed
automatically.
The camera is now installed and ready for
use.
Installation in Windows®XP
NB: Do not connect the camera yet.
1. Start Windows.
2. Insert the enclosed CD-ROM.
3. The setup program launches. Click
“Next”.
4. Windows informs you that the driver
“has not passed Windows Logo testing
to verify its compatibility with Windows
XP”. Click “Continue Anyway”. Click
“Finish”.
5. Connect the camera to your computer’s
USB port.
6. The “Found New Hardware” wizard will
start. Select “Install the software
automatically (Recommended)”.
Click “Next”.
7. Windows informs you that the driver
“has not passed Windows Logo testing
to verify its compatibility with Windows
XP”. Click “Continue Anyway”.Click
“Finish”.
8. Restart your computer.
The camera is now installed and ready for
use.

Using the camera
To use the camera, you need a special
application or website (see also “Using the
camera with MSN” on page 6).
For example, you can use the “AMCap”
application supplied. To launch the
application, click the link under “Start” -
“(All) Programs”.
There are various items on the AMCap
toolbar. Here is a short description of the
most important ones:
File
Set Capture File…
Specifies the file name and location for a
video sequence.
Allocate File Space…
Allocates free space on your hard disk for a
video sequence.
Save Captured Video…
Saves a video sequence.
Exit
Closes the application.
Devices
VIMICRO USB PC Camera 301x
Specifies the camera you wish to use with
“AMCap”.
[Audio device]
Specifies the audio device you wish to use
with “AMCap”.
Options
Preview
Switches on the camera.
Audio Format…
Specifies the sound quality for a video
sequence.
Audio Capture Filter…
Specifies the audio source to use.
Video Capture Filter…
Sets up the camera image.

Specifies the desired resolution.

NB: The “AMCap” application is a standard
application for cameras, so some
functionality is inaccessible to the Sandberg
NightCam.
Focusing the lens
The black plastic ring around the camera
lens is used to adjust the focus. Turn the
lens either clockwise or anticlockwise to
adjust it. The result can be viewed in the
“AMCap” application while you are focusing.
NB: The lens is protected by a small black
cover, which must be removed before using
the camera.
Night vision
The camera has six infrared lamps located
next to the lens. These allow you to gain
excellent pictures even in complete
darkness. The camera automatically
switches to this mode depending on the
lighting conditions.
NB: The night vision function may result in
reduced picture colour.

Recording a video sequence
1. Start the “AMCap” application (see the
section “Using the camera” on page 4).
2. Select “File”, “Set Capture File…”.
3. Enter the location and name of the video
sequence. Click “Open”.
4. Specify the amount of space you wish to
reserve for this video sequence. Click
“OK”.
5. Select “Capture”, “Start Capture”.
6. When you are ready to record, click
“OK”.
7. When you want to stop recording, press
the “Esc” key on the keyboard.
8. The video sequence is then saved.
NB: Do not reserve too much space, as the
video sequence will take up much more
space than it should. Reserve too little space
rather than too much. If the video sequence
takes up more space than reserved, the
application will automatically reserve more
space. However, the video sequence quality
is better when it is kept within the reserved
space.
Recording still pictures
1. Start the “AMCap” application (see the
section “Using the camera” on page 4).
2. Select “Capture”,“Still”,“Enable”.
3. Select “Capture”,“Still”,“Folder”.
4. Enter a folder to save the still pictures
to. Click “OK”.
5. Still pictures can now be taken by
pressing the “Ctrl” + “L” keys on the
keyboard.
6. The pictures are automatically saved in
the specified folder.
Using the camera with MSN
Messenger
The Sandberg NightCam enables others to
see you while chatting over the Internet.
There are many applications and websites
that enable you to use the camera over the
Internet. Here we will look at the most
popular of them: MSN Messenger 6.2.
NB: To use MSN Messenger, you have to set
up a “Net Passport”.You can do this by
following the wizard the first time you log
into MSN Messenger.

Using MSN Messenger
1. Download and install the MSN
Messenger application from the website:
http://messenger.msn.com.
2. Log into MSN Messenger.
3. Find the person you wish to connect to
from your contact list in the MSN
Messenger window.
4. Right-click on the person and select
“Send via webcam”.
5. The person you are contacting must
now accept the request. The connection
is then established.
6. The camera can be disconnected by
clicking the “Webcam” icon in the
conversation window.
NB: Webcam connections can only be made
with people in your contact list. If you wish
to add a new person to your contact list,
select “Add a Contact” in the MSN
Messenger window and follow the wizard.
Troubleshooting
If the camera is not producing a picture,
and has otherwise been installed without
problems, check the following:
• That you have removed the protective
lens cap.
• That the “AMCap” application or other
application/website with camera support
has been started. (If you are using an
application other than “AMCap”,check
that the camera is correctly configured
for it.)
• That “Preview” under “Options” in
“AMCap” is enabled.
• That the correct camera (if you have
more than one) is selected under
“Devices” in “AMCap”.

Sandberg NightCam (Herefter kaldet
”kameraet”) er et kamera til din computer,
som giver mulighed for at optage levende
billeder, tage still-billeder og lade dine
venner se dig, når du chatter på Internettet.
Kameraer stiller altid høje krav til belysning
for at give et klart billede. Sandberg Night-
Cam er imidlertid udstyret med Night Vision,
så billedet altid er tydeligt – selv i mørke
rum. Kameraet er solidt udført i metal. Det
kan drejes i alle retninger og er monteret på
en fleksibel klemmefod, der enten kan stilles
på en flade eller klemmes fast, f.eks. på en
fladskærm. Linsen er af glasoptik, der i
forhold til plasticoptik giver et klarere og
mere detaljeret billede med større dybde og
bedre skarphed.

For at bruge kameraet skal du benytte et
program eller internetsted (se endvidere
afsnittet ”Brug kameraet i MSN” på side 12).
Du kan f.eks. bruge det medfølgende pro-
gram ”AMCap”.Programmet startes under
”Start” - ”Programmer/Alle programmer”.
I værktøjslinien i AMCap finder du forskelli-
ge punkter. Her er en kort beskrivelse af de
