4. Turn the browning control to the highest setting (7).

5. Now operate the toaster (without any bread inside) by pressing down the bread

vapour whilst burning in; this is normal. The toaster will shut itself off after a few

minutes. It is now ready for toasting.

Hints and tips

When toasting more than one slice of bread, use slices of similar size, thickness

and freshness.

Old or thin bread will cook faster than fresh or thick bread, so use a lower setting.

Do not use torn, curled up, or misshapen slices of bread, as these may jam the

ejection mechanism and could catch fire.

Sweet bread products (fruit loaf, etc.) brown much quicker than ordinary bread,

so should be toasted on a lighter setting.

Should the bread carriage become jammed during the toasting cycle, do not

attempt to release it. Unplug the toaster and allow it to cool down before carefully

removing the bread.

Do not insert a knife, fork or similar sharp instrument into the toaster as these

may damage the elements and present a danger of electric shock.

Crumbs

Crumbs will collect in the base of the toaster. Letting them build up can cause a

fire hazard so it is important to remove them frequently.

Switch off the power and remove the plug from the wall power outlet.

Pull out the crumb tray and empty out the crumbs.

Wipe the tray clean with a damp cloth.

Dry thoroughly before sliding back into the base of the toaster.

Inner Glass Window

The inner glass window may require occasional cleaning.

Switch the power off and remove the plug from the wall power outlet.

The toaster must not be hot.

Lay the toaster on its back.

Insert fingers into the latch, squeeze latch to unlock and withdraw the glass

window from the toaster.

Wash window in warm soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly.

Slide the window back into the window cavity taking note of the orientation marks

on the latch.

Note: For safety reasons the toaster will not operate without the inner window installed.

Jamming

If the bread jams in the toaster, the contacts will open and turn off the power to the

elements. You should still unplug the toaster and leave it to cool down before trying

to release the jam.

Cleaning and Maintenance

This toaster is for household use only and is not user-serviceable.

Do not open or change any parts by yourself. Please refer to a qualified electrical

service department or return to the supplier if servicing is necessary.

Always remember to switch the power off and unplug the toaster from the electrical

outlet when not in use and before cleaning.

Let the toaster cool down fully before attempting any cleaning operation or storing

away.

The body of the toaster and the crumb tray should be cleaned with a damp cloth.

Do not let water enter the toaster.

slots, you might damage the elements and present a danger of electric shock.

Remove, empty, clean and refit the crumb tray.

Remove, clean and refit inner glass window.

Do not use bleach or other abrasive substance or solvents to clean your toaster as

it can be damaging to the finish.
