These instructions should be read in full before commencing the installation.
Werecommend that theinstallation should onlybe carried out bya suitablyqualified person.
The RedringWS7 is an open outlet, thermal storage water heater for use with Redring recommended fittings for one
outlet only. It operates on the displacement principlei.e.; when cold water is admitted into the bottomofthe tank, hot
water flows out through the outlet. There are twomodels: 3kW,which ensures rapid reheating ofthe water, and a 1kW
unitto suit special electrical requirements.
Fixing
The wall bracket should be securelyfixed in
position (see diagram1). The heater is then hung
on thewall bracket. Furthersecuritycan be
obtained bymarking the position ofthe extra fixing
holes (see diagram1) and applyingappropriate
wall fixings to these positions.
When the unit is usedabove thesinkwith the cold
inlet tap and spout supplied, it is recommended that
these extra fixing positions be used.
The bottomofthe heater should be approximately
350mmabove the top ofthe sink.
The outlet should be at least 13mm above the
maximum possible water levelfor any
appliancethat is to be filled from the heater.
Water Connection
(See diagram4 for suggested installation plan)
Oversink (Diagram 2a)
When using the tap and spout as supplied, the cold
water connection is made directlyto the 15mm
compressions fitting
at the rear ofthe cold inlet tap.
Ensure that the water flow is in linewith the flowdirection arrowmoulded on the cold inlet tap.
Undersink (Diagram 2b)
Ifthe unit is to be mounted belowsinklevel, it shouldbe connected to the special openoutlet MonoblockMixer Tap
recommended byApplied EnergyProducts Limited (see page 3).
The economic performanceofthe heater will be enhanced bylaggingthehot water pipefromthe heater tothe outlet.
Oversink and Undersink Installation
Before final assemblyofthe taptheappropriate restrictor insert must be selected and fitted intotheend ofthe coldinlet
pipe ontheheater (see Table A). The correct insert will ensure that the flow rate ofwater through the heateris at an
optimumto preventundue mixing ofthe incoming coldwater with the stored hot water, as well as avoidingany
unnecessarypressure within thetank.
Electrical Connection
The installation must be in accordance with the current BS.7671 (IEE Wiring Regulations) and/or local regulations, and
“Part P” ofthe BuildingRegulations.
1. The heater is suitable for 240/230V singlephase A.C supply.
2. The live (brown) and neutral (blue) wires must be connected to the designatedpositions in the terminal blockand the
earth (green/yellow) to the earth position.
3. WARNING: THIS APPLIANCE MUSTBE EARTHED
4. The mains cableshould be prepared as shown (see diagram3)
5. A means for disco
nnection in all poles must be incorporated in the fixed wiring in accordance with the wiring rules.
6. The cable should be heat resisting 3-Coreflexible PVC of0.75mm²for the 1kWmodel and 1.25mm²minimumfor the
3kWmodel.
7. NOTE – THE APPLIANCEMUSTBE FILLED WITH WATER BEFOREPOWERIS SWITCHED ON.
