Installer Manual
- The Pure Storage ESS is a self contained energy storage and management system
including inverter charger system, controller, EMS and 4.8Kwh lithium battery with BMS –
All in one box.
- On average, only 30% of energy generated from PV is absorbed by the home. The rest is
exported to the grid.
- Pure Storage is designed to increase the self-consumption of solar PV from 30% to 85%.
- The Pure Storage system is designed to store this excess PV energy which is normally
exported and use this to increase self-absorption.
- Primarily uses PV, if not enough PV then battery storage will assist, if not enough battery
storage then the grid will provide the balance of power.
- Option to connect critical circuits to remain powered during a power cut.
- Option to power from economy 7, utilising lower rate electricity.

3. QUICK INSTALL GUIDE:
- Mount the Puredrive Box to the wall.
- Connect 7mm T&E cable to a spare way on the consumer unit, and connect this to the
inverter AC IN.
If a spare way is not available, then install a two-way consumer unit with a 100A main switch
& 16 amp CB.
- If installing the critical circuit system used to maintain critical circuits in case of power cuts.
connect the critical circuits to the AC OUT (maximum 3000watts)
- Clamp the GRID current clamp to live incomer of the homes distribution board make sure
the arrow follows the flow of power-
- Clamp the SOLAR current clamp to output from grid tied inverter make sure the arrow fol-
lows the flow of power.
- (3 Phase System Only) Install the terminal box to the AC output of the PV grid tied inverter
and split the wires to
enable a CT clamp to clamp around the live wire, then terminate the CT clamp to the second
phase of the power meter.
- Move battery into the box – use handles.
- Connect the battery, via Anderson connectors to the inverter DC connections.
- Connect the Puredrive communication cable between the battery and the inverter.
- IMPORTANT: connect power to the inverter before switching on the battery.
- Check the system works and set up the portal.
- Complete install certificate.

There are two basic configurations for the Pure Storage system. The diagram above
shows a configuration with the power meter installed in the box. This is expected for
most of the installations where the Puredrive Storage box is placed within 10m of the
distribution board. The power meter will require an external power supply which it will be
supplied from within the box.

4.2 Power meter is located outside of the box.
The second configuration necessitates the power box be located outside of the box where
the storage box is located more than 10m away from the homes distribution board.
