Introduction
Welcome
Turn your computer with DistanTV into a system that enables you to transmit
high-quality TV signals to up to three different PCs or notebooks in your home
network (LAN or WLAN).
The DistanTV add-on enables you to transmit TV programs, received by your
PCTV hardware over your home network (LAN or WLAN), to a different
computer or notebook. DistanTV makes it easy for you to select the TV channel
you want over the network - just as if the PCTV hardware was directly
connected to your notebook.
All you need to enjoy DistanTV on your home network is the following:
The PCTV-Hardware installed on the computer, which functions as server. In
addition the PCTV Systems TVCenter application needs to be installed on
the computer. This application includes the DistanTV Server.
The DistanTV Client application installed on the other computers connected
to your home network.
The DistanTV client computer establishes automatically a connection to the
server computer. There is no need to enter an IP address (but possible), therefore
the installation is extremely quick and user-friendly.
Once the connection has been established, the DistanTV Client application
accesses the channel lists, which are saved on the server computer, enabling you
to watch TV with the client right away.

Online Help
When you use the DistanTV, Online Help is available at any time. Simply press
the F1 key to open it.
Or you can also open the Online Help via the Start menu or via the context menu
in the DistanTV Client.

System Requirements
System Requirements – Server/Client
To ensure that your DistanTV Server or Client functions smoothly, your
respective system must fulfil the following requirements:
Computer Software
Windows XP Home or Professional with the current Service Pack (minimum
Service Pack 2)
Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 with the most current updates
Windows Vista (32 bit)
Windows 7
Computer Hardware
Processor
Server: At least a Pentium Core 2 Duo® or equivalent processor with 1.8 GHz
or more.
Client: At least a Pentium Core 4® or equivalent processor with 1.8 GHz or
more.
Working memory
Server: Minimum of 1024 MB
Client: Minimum of 512 MB
Graphics card
DirectX 9-compatible graphics card
Sound card
DirectX 9-compatible sound card
Home network
For an Ethernet connection, you need at least a 100BaseT network card.
For a wireless connection, you need a WLAN adapter or a WLAN Access
Point in compliance with IEEE 802.11g (wireless "g") or IEEE 802.11n
(Wireless “n”). The older standard 802.11b does not normally provide
satisfactory conditions for wireless video transmissions.

Important information:
In order to establish a reliable network connection between the server and the
client:
Both systems (server and client) must be located on the same subnet of your
network.
Both systems (server and client) must be in the same network environment,
just as e.g. “Home”, “Work” or “Public Network”, if both systems are
running Windows Vista or Windows 7
UPnP should be enabled and activated.
The ports provided for server-client communication: 8000 and for the UPnP
device ID: 2869 and 1900 (set automatically during installation) or the ports
you set must be available. For more information on this, also refer to the
issue: "Not all of the necessary ports are open" in the
"Tips and Tricks - Troubleshooting" chapter.
Note that:
The UPnP and port settings must be configured in the Windows firewall
settings.
The LAN, subnet and network environment settings must be configured in
your home network settings.
Refer to Windows Help for more information on how to configure these
settings.

Installation
Installing the Server-Application
The DistanTV Streaming Server, the application that enables you to transmit
live TV from the server computer to the client computer, is part of the TVCenter
application and is installed on your server computer during installation of the
entire application.
The DistanTV Streaming Server is configured as the subgroup “Tools” of the
program group “PCTV Systems” on the server computer during the installation.
Be sure to perform a channel scan on the server computer after the
installation of the TVCenter application. The channel scan must be performed in
order for the DistanTV Client to function smoothly.
The TVCenter application in detail
For more information on the TVCenter and how to perform a channel scan, refer
to the TVCenter Help or User Manual.
To open the TVCenter Help open the Strat menu on the server computer and go
to: Programs > PCTV Systems > Documentation

Installing the Client-Application
You only need to install the DistanTV Client on the computer you want to use as
a client. The DistanTV Client allows you to establish a connection to the server
computer and to access the channel lists saved there.
To install the program, you need administrator rights.
Install a DistanTV Client as follows:
Place the installation disc in the respective drive of the client computer.
If the Autorun function is enabled, a welcome window will be automatically
displayed.
In case the auto-run function is not enabled on the client computer, navigate
to the respective drive and open the file Launcher.exe.
Select the option DistanTV
Now follow the on-screen instructions, until the installation is completed.
Before you exit the installation program, you have the option of starting the
DistanTV Client.
To do so, select the option: Start DistanTV Client.
Note that the DistanTV Client application cannot be installed on the server
computer.
