4. Handling Precautions forTraverse Deck
Thelaserdiodeinthetraverse deck (optical pickup)may break downduetopotential difference
causedbystaticelectricityofclothes or humanbody.
So, becareful ofelectrostaticbreakdownduring repairofthetraverse deck (optical pickup).
4.1. Handling thetraverse deck (optical pickup)
1. Thetraverse deck (optical pickup)isanextremelyhigh-precision
construction and must notbesubjectedtoimpact, excessive
vibration, orothertypes ofrough handling.
2. To protect thelaserdiodeagainst electrostaticbreakdown, be
surethat theshortland Aand Boftheflexibleboard(FFCboard)
shouldbeshort-circuitbysolderbeforepulling outtheFFC. Then
inserting ashortpinorsimilarobject intothetipoftheflexible
board. / (Referto Fig. 1 )
3. Handletheflexiblecircuitboardswithcare;excessiveforce could
cause themtobebroken.
4. Donotturnthepre-set variableresistor(foradjustmentofthe
laserpower);ithas beenadjustedat thefactory.
(as shownin Fig. 1 )

4.2. Caution whenreplacing traverse deck
Thenewtraverse deck short-circuitsbytheshortpin, thefoil (C) and shortlandstoprotectthe
laserdiodeagainstelectrostaticbreakdown. Besuretoreplace tonewonefollowing procedures.
1. RemovetheshortpinfromtheFFC, and thenconnect ittothe
connector.
2. Cutthefoil (C). (Referto Fig. 1 )(Take carenottomake contact
withcutting pointeachother.)
3. Unsoldertheshortlands. (Referto Fig. 1 )
4.3. Grounding forelectrostaticbreakdownprevention
1. Humanbodygrounding
Use theanti-staticwrist straptodischargethestaticelectricity
fromyourbody. (as shownin Fig. 2 )
2. Worktablegrounding
Putaconductivematerial (sheet) orsteel sheet on thearea where
theoptical pickup isplaced, and fround thesheet. (as shownin
Fig. 3 )
Caution
Thestaticelectricityofyourclothes will notbegroundedthrough
