2Installing the server into the rack
The procedure for installation to the server into the rack is explained here.
The left or the right in this manual is dened when the rack is viewed from the front.
- Be sure to secure the rack with stabilizers to prevent the device from tipping over. For details on installing the rack, refer to the
manual provided with the rack.
- The weight of the server exceeds 35kg. When you carry the server, make sure more than three people do it to secure the
right and left sides and the bottom of the body.
1Open both the front and rear doors of
the rack.
2Check where to attach the slide rail and
rack nuts.
As seen in the gure below, the base surface of the
server must be positioned at where the intervals
between the rack bracket holes are narrow.
3Attach M5 rack nuts.
Use 4U per device. Insert the latches of the rack nuts
from the inside of the rack bracket into 2nd and 11th
holes (counting from the position where the server is
installed) to attach the rack nuts.
1Check all of the Rackmount kit items
The rackmount kit for installation into a rack is supplied with the server. First check that none of the
following items are missing. If any items are missing or defective, contact an ofce listed in the "Contact

4Fix the slide rails to the rack.
Fix the rear side rst.
Secure them by inserting the pins of the slide rail to the
rst and the third hole of the slide rail. For the front
side, secure the slide rail to the rack at the third hole
using a washer and M5 athead screw.
The slide rails are designed as both dedicated left
and right side. Fix the slide rails with facing up the
indication of "LEFT" and "RIGHT ".
The rail may be damaged if server is installed on
the rack whose slide rails are xed oppositely.
5Pull the inner rails toward the front until
they click into place.
6Draw out the inner rails, and attach the
inner rail to the server.
1.
Put the server on so that the ledge parts in the inner
rail may put it in the ditch on the server side.
2. Slide the server towards the back until the screw
hole in the inner rails and the screw hole in the
server side overlap.
3.
Fix the inner rail and the server with the M3 athead
screws (Fix each side with two screws).
7Install the server into the rack.
Hold the locks on the right and left of the slide rail
pressed and slide the server even further into the rack.
Be careful not to pinch your ngers or catch any
clothing when sliding the server into the cabinet.
Failing to do so may cause injuries.
8Fix the server to the rack.
Fix them by using the four M5 thumbscrews.

3Connecting peripheral devices after installing the server
into the rack
Connect peripheral devices after installing the server into the rack. Use long enough cables because
you may pull the server from the rack when necessary.
nFixing the power cable
To prevent the power cable from falling down, after connecting the power cable to the server, pass the supplied release tie
through the air holes and secure approximately 10 cm from the connector of the cable as seen in the gure below. When
unplugging the cable, make sure to unplug the connector on the server end.
Surely unplug the power connector at the server end when necessary.
nCable forming process
After connecting the peripheral devices, tie all the cables and x them with the release tie to the cable holder provided with
the rack. This forming process makes the cables easily recognizable even when multiple servers are installed in the rack.
