NOTE:
A FELCO 880 POWERPACK is necessary for the use of
FELCO 801-HP pruning shear.
The FELCO 801 pruning shears can be equipped with
different cutting heads. The user manual applies to all
configurations.

Thank you for purchasing the FELCO 801-HP electro
portable pruning shear. Under proper use and cared, this tool
shall provide you many years of satisfactory performance.
It is IMPERATIVE to read this manual in its entirety
before using the tool, or proceeding to maintenance
operations. Follow carefully the instructions and
illustrations provided in this document.
Throughout this User manual, you shall find warnings and
information with the following headings: NOTE, WARNING or
CAUTION. A NOTE provides further information, clarifies a
point, or explains a step to be followed in detail. The
WARNING, or CAUTION indication is used to identify a
procedure which, if neglected or performed improperly, can
result in property damage and/or serious injury. The
WARRANTY warning indicates that if the procedures or
instructions are not complied with, the damage is not covered
by warranty and repair costs will be borne by the owner.
No part of this manual may be reproduced without the written
permission of FELCO SA. The technical features and
illustrations in this manual are provided solely for guidance
and are not binding in any way. Company FELCO SA
reserves the right to proceed to any modification or
improvement to its products, as it deems necessary, without

•FELCO 801-HP is a professional tool, intended
exclusively for pruning trees, bushes, shrubs and vines.
It will greatly facilitate pruning activities in arboriculture,
maintenance of parks, gardens, forests and vineyards.
•The FELCO 801-HP can be equipped with a specific
cutting head for trimming ovine and caprine hooves.
This specific feature is reserved for trained persons.
•Company FELCO SA waives any responsibility in the
event of damages caused as a result of inappropriate
use, other than the one prescribed.
•Company FELCO SA further declines any responsibility
for damages arising from the use of non-original parts
or accessories.

•In the framework of shipping the complete FELCO 801
assembly (FELCO 801-HP 15 pruning shear +
FELCO 880 POWERPACK, or only the battery(ies) 09:
follow the applicable standards. Battery 09 is a product
classified as per UN 3481, class 9 packaging group II.
SAFETY MEASURES RELATED TO THE USE OF
THE TOOL
•Verify that switch 07 is set to "OFF" position, before
disconnecting battery 09 from the control housing 04, or
disconnecting pruning shear 15 from the cord 02.
•Disconnect pruning shear 15 from its cord 02 before
any intervention thereon (replacement of blade 17,
etc...).
•Do not dismantle the pruning shear15. Only the
operations contained in this manual are allowed.
•Do not store the pruning shear 15 in humid areas.
•Never carry the pruning shear 15 or the control
housing 04 bythe cord 02.
•Do not try to cut wood of particularly big diameter, or
materials other than wood, unless otherwise indicated.
•Retain the original packaging for storing the pruning
shear 15, in the event of eventual dispatch thereof for
inspection or repair.
•Keep the tool out of the reach of children.
•When the pruning shear 15 is not used, close the
blade 17 and always set switch 07 to the "OFF"
position, in order to avoid bodily injury and deep battery
discharge 09.
•Never use the tool if it is damaged, improperly adjusted,
or mounted in an incomplete fashion.
•Pay attention to the projections that can cause physical
injuries or damage to property. The user and
bystanders must wear eye protection.
•Always wear appropriate shoes and clothing.

INITIAL USE
1. Remove POWERPACK 03 from case 14.
2. Remove pruning shear15 from case 14.
3. For FELCO 880 POWERPACK use, refer to FELCO 880
user manual found in case14.
CAUTION
During initial use, if you try to work with your pruning
shear 15 without prior charging of the battery 09, the pruning
shear will not work. Refer to FELCO 880 user manual for the
procedure.
USE
Refer to the description of the tool on page 3 and illustration
A on page 4.
1. Connect the pruning shear15 to the pruning shear power
cord 02.
2. Hold the pruning shear 15 in your hand, toggle switch 07
of the remote housing 06, from the "OFF" to the "ON"
position (the display08 of the remote housing 06 is
activated).
3. Press once on trigger 16 and blade 17 opens. (Blade 17
opening and closing is proportional to the pressure
applied by the finger).
4. In order to stop the pruning shear15, close the blade17
using the trigger16, keep the blade closed, toggle
switch 07 to the "OFF" position (the display 08 of the
remote housing 06 closes). It is possible to temporarily
pause the pruning shear using option "Stand-by Mode"
(Refer to FELCO 880 user manual).
NOTES
•In order to save the energy fed by battery 09 and to
also ensure maximum autonomy for the pruning
shear 15, considerusing option "semi-opening" which is
adjustable to 50%, 60%, or 70%. (Refer to FELCO 880
user manual). This option offers precious time-saving
when pruning small diameters.
•If the wood is too thick, the pruning shears 15 stops in
the closing direction. Only opening is possible.
THE FIRST SHARPENING OPERATION AND THE BLADE

ADVICE FOR USE
•Forcing the trigger 16 does not add anything to the
cutting operation. It may lead to twisting or braking the
trigger 16 and in pruning shear 15 blockage.
•Do not move the pruning shear15 lateraly when cutting
a branch. Failure to comply with this instruction may
result in damages tothe cutting head.
•You must take all precautions to prevent the
entanglement of the pruning shear power supply
cord 02 in the branches. In order to do this, prefer
routing cord 02 along your shoulder and not around
your waist. In any case, if you wish to use the cord
around the waist, exit the cord 02 either from the top, or
from the left or right opening on the lower part of the
rucksack (depending on whether you are right- or left-
hander), then attach the cord 02 to the arm using an
arm band (ref. 800/301, available as an option at your
preferred authorized dealer), or route it under your
sleeve.
•The autonomy and useful life of the pruning shear15
depend essentially on the right and proper adjustment
of the blade 17 and anvil blade 18. You are required to
constantly attend these items, as with a manual pruning
shear (see chapters SHARPENING, ADJUSTING THE
BLADE AND ANVIL BLADE and MISCELLANEOUS
MAINTENANCE).
•In cold or wet conditions, protect "POWERPACK
FELCO 880" carrying it under your raincoat.
•To minimize exposure to vibration of the tool, it is
advisable to pay particular attention to its maintenance
and regular sharpening.
CAUTION
During intense or heavy cutting loads, the body of the
pruning shear 15 can get hot. To avoid deterioration of the
tool, slow down the pace or intensity of the cut. In case of
problems due to high temperature, the control electronics
reduce the power of the pruning shear (see FELCO 880 user
manual, chapter "OPERATION ALARMS".
NOTES
•The pruning shear 15 familiarization process requires a
few pruning hours.
•If the cut is not performed neatly and effortlessly, it
means that the pruning shear consumes more energy
than necessary. Check the sharpening of blade17 and
the general condition of the pruning shear 15.
•For all indications displayed by the display08, refer to
FELCO 880 user manual.

SHARPENING
This operation is essential because it determines the cutting
quality and the service life of the blade 17, the mechanical
components and the endurance of the battery 09.
Sharpening frequency depends of course on the wood that is
cut (hardness and diameter), the pruning rate and the
sharpening tool used (FELCO 903 is recommended).
Therefore, during the first days of use, the condition of the
cutting edge of the blade 17 must be checked regularly in
order to sharpen it at the right moment (a check every
quarter of an hour will quickly give you an idea of this
frequency). As a minimum, one daily sharpening operation is
recommended during the whole pruning season.
CAUTION
The first sharpening operation must be performed in the first
half hour. To perform this operation, refer to illustration B on
page 4 of this user manual. At this occasion check and adjust
if necessary the play between the blade 17 and the anvil
blade 18 according to the instructions "ADJUSTING THE
BLADE AND ANVIL BLADE" below.
ADJUSTING THE BLADE AND ANVIL BLADE
In order to ensure clean and precise cut, adjust periodically
the play between the blade 17 and the anvil blade 18 by
referring to the illustration C on pages 4 and 5 of this user
manual.
ADJUSTING THE BLADE AND ANVIL BLADE CROSSING
If you sharpen regularly (recommended) your blade17 and
blade 17 does not cross correctly with the anvil blade 18, you
can extend the longevity of blade 17 by means of adjusting
its crossing with the anvil blade 18.
To do this, activate the trigger16, 2 times quickly and hold it
to the fully actuated position. You will hear a series of 3
sound signals. Count till the 4. After the fourth, blade 17 will
advance in small increments of 1 mm (maximum 2
increments). When crossing is good (blade 17 should overlap
clearly anvil blade 18) release the trigger 16 and the tool
saves the crossing position. Only perform this operation
when blade 17 does not cross over anvil blade 18 enough.
REPLACING THE BLADE
When the blade 17 no longer crosses the anvil blade 18
throughout its length, it is recommended that you change it.
To do so, refer to the illustration D on page 5 of this user
manual.
During this operation, please check the wear on Bolt 21 and
replace it if required.
CAUTION
Never operate the pruning shear 15 during this operation, as
this may lead to the damage of the tool and personal injury. It

is necessary to disconnect the pruning shear15 from the
power cord 02 before this operation.
REPLACING THE BLADE AND ANVIL BLADE
When the blade 17 has been replaced several times, and the
cut is less clean even after precise adjustment of the play
between the blade 17 and the anvil blade 18, it is time to
replace the anvil blade 18. To do so, refer to the illustration E
on page 6 of this user manual.
CAUTION
Never operate the pruning shear 15 during this operation, as
this may lead to the damage of the tool and personal injury. It
is necessary to disconnect the pruning shear 15 from the
power cord 02 before this operation.
SEMI-OPENING MODE
The user has the ability to set blade 17 to "semi-opening
mode" at any time. This can be useful when it is necessary to
cut small diameter wood and large opening is not necessary.
To activate semi-opening mode, simply activate the
trigger 16 twice very quickly and release it immediately.
Blade 17 is set to half of its full opening path. To return to
large opening mode, simply activate the trigger 16 twice
quickly again and blade 17 is repositioned to its normal
opening mode. This mode can be permanently disabled
using the remote control housing 06. To do this, refer to
FELCO 880 user manual. Semi-opening setting is also
possible using the remote control housing 06; this allows you
to set permanently the level of openness of the blade when
you press the semi-open option. To do this, refer to the
POWERPACK FELCO 880 user manual.
STAND-BY MODE OF THE PRUNING SHEAR
The standby mode of the pruning shear allows you to stop
the tool without having to activate switch 07. To enable this
mode, you simply activate the trigger16 two times rapidly
and hold until you hear a set of three quick beeps. You can
then release trigger 16 and blade 17 shall not open. To open
the blade 17, simply pressonce on the trigger 16.
CAUTION
This option is not intended as a power down of the tool, but
only simply as an aid to the pruning process. Attention must
be paid as a movement of trigger16 will trigger the opening
of the blade 17.
This mode can be permanently disabled using the remote
control housing 06. To do this, refer to FELCO 880 user
manual.
MISCELLANEOUS MAINTENANCE
Please refer to illustration Fon page 83 ofthis user manual.
•Clean the cutting head at regular intervals using a
cleaner and lubricant that protects against corrosion
(i.e. spray FELCO 980). Remove especially all
accumulations of sap on the blade17 and on the anvil
blade 18.
•Clean the tool body with a damp cloth on a regular
basis.
•Grease daily the grease tank of the anvil blade 18 by
applying grease using the grease pump FELCO 991, on
the grease bolthead 21.
•Do not leave pruning shear 15 on the ground, or
exposed to the weather.
•After 400'000 cuts, but at least once a year, it is
recommended to require a thorough inspection by an
authorized dealer, in order to increase the longevity of
your tool. The following parts will be replaced as a
preventive measure (Connecting rod, circlips, scraper
and back cover screws). The review fee shall be borne
by the end user.
OUTSIDE THE PRUNING PERIOD
•Store the pruning shear 15 in its case 14 protected
against heat, dust and moisture.
•It is recommended, during OFF SEASON period, to
perform a general inspection of your pruning shear 15,
at an authorized dealer. For more information, consult
your authorized dealer, or contact us.
•With regard to POWERPACK FELCO 880 storage,
refer to FELCO 880 user manual.
AUDIBLE NOTIFICATIONS
CAUTION
The user is helped by sound signals emitted by the control
housing 04 of POWERPACK FELCO 880. For the meaning
of these signals, it is necessary to refer to FELCO 880 user
manual.
INCIDENTS
If the pruning shear15 do not work:
1. Set switch 07 of the remote control housing 06 to the
"ON" position.
2. Check the battery 09 charge, while watching the
display 08 of the remote control housing 06. If necessary,
charge the battery 09 according to the instructions in
FELCO 880 user manual.
3. If the pruning shear 15 continues not to operate, set
switch 07 of the remote control housing 06 to the "OFF"
position and verify that the power cord 02 is correctly
connected and that the connection plug 01 is tight. Set
switch 07 of the remote control housing 06 to the "ON"
position.
4. If the pruning shear still does not work, return pruning
shear FELCO 801-HP and POWERPACK FELCO 880 in
the original packaging to an authorized dealer.
GUARANTEE AND NON-RESPONSIBILITY CLAUSE
In the event of failure of a mechanical, electrical or electronic
part, and subject to standard and reasonable use, and if the
tool is maintained in accordance with the user manual,
FELCO SA guarantees its products to its end customers for a
period of 2 YEARS as of the date of delivery to the end
customer. This period may not exceed18 months as of the
