Description
The Thermostatic Power Shower is an all-in-one power shower with an
integral mains voltage pump, with separate controls for flow and
temperature.It features a 15mm dual entry push-fit manifold to enable
the appliance to support various inlet supply configurations.The
manifold includes inlet filters and check valves.The thermostatic mixer
incorporates a wax capsule sensing unit and ceramic disc technology
for flow control.
Designed to be surface mounted the Thermostatic Power Shower
comes complete with an adjustable spray handset with three settings,
flexible hose, adjustable slider, sliding rail, soap tray and bracket.
WARNING!
This appliance must be earthed.
In accordance with the current edition of ‘The Plugs and Sockets
etc. (Safety) Regulations in force at the time of installation, this
Essentials Thermostatic Power Shower is intended to be
permanently connected to the fixed electrical wiring of the mains
system.
The shower unit must not be connected to a Mains Cold water
supply, Unvented High Pressure systems or Multi-Point/
Combination Gas Water Heaters.
The function of a thermostatic mixing valve is to deliver water
consistently at a safe temperature. In keeping with every other
mechanism, it cannot be considered as functionally infallible and
as such, cannot totally replace a supervisor’s vigilance where that
is necessary. Provided it is installed, commissioned, operated and
maintained within manufacturers recommendations, the risk of
failure, if not eliminated, is reduced to the minimum achievable.

General
Shower unit duty cycle: 15 minutes on, 60 minutes off.
Exceeding the units duty cycle
The motor is fitted with a thermal cut out device, if temperatures
become too high the device will cut the power to the motor but will
self-reset once temperatures have normalised.
Noise Level
The acoustic noise from the pump motor has been reduced with
integral foam/rubber mountings.The type of wall can affect noise
levels. Solid walls will provide quieter operation.At full flow this unit will
produce in the region of 55 dBA measured from a distance of 1m.
Running in period
For storage reasons the pump motor has a protective film on the
motor contacts.This may produce a burning smell for a period of up to
5 days after installation, this is normal.
Electrical
Power supply
220-240V at 50Hz, fused at 3 Amps, via a double pole fused switch
(not supplied) with a minimum 3mm contact separation in each
contact.

150 Watts maximum.
Plumbing Connections
Inlet 2 x 15mm Push-fit manifold.
Outlet 1/2”BSP male.

Operating Parameters

BS 6700 recommends hot water storage temperature should not
exceed 65°C.
Hot water should be set in the range of 60 to 65°C to meet
requirements of the shower unit.
Operating pressure
Minimum maintained pressure 0.0075 bar or 75 head of water.
Maximum maintained pressure 0.5 bar.
Maximum static pressure 1bar or 10 head of water.
Maximum pressure loss ratio 10:1.
Standards
The Essentials Thermostatic Power Shower has been designed to
comply with the requirements of UK Water Regulations/Bye-laws
(Scotland).
The Essentials Thermostatic Power Shower complies with all the
relevant EC directives.

Gravity Fed syste - The shower MUST be fed from a cold water
cistern and hot water cylinder providing nominally equal pressure.
Installation Requirements
Installation
General
1. Do not install in a position where the unit can become frozen.
2. The shower unit ust be supplied from a cold storage tank and
hot water cylinder with equal pressures.The shower unit ust
not be connected to a Mains Cold water supply, Unvented High
Pressure systems or Multi-Point/Combination Gas Water Heaters.

3. Ensure that HOT (H) and COLD (C) supplies are connected to the
correct inlets.These are clearly marked. Failure to do so could be
dangerous.
4. The shower unit is for surface mounting only and ust not be
recessed into any wall or cavity, or tiled up to, as this will inhibit
water drainage from rear of unit.
Electrical
1. The electrical installation must comply with the “Requirements for
Electrical Installations”commonly referred to as the IEE Wiring
Regulations, or any particular regulations and practices,
specified by the local electricity supply company in force at the
time of installation.The installation should be carried out by an
electrician or contractor who is registered, or is a member of, an
association such as:
National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation and Contracting (NICEIC),
throughout the UK, Tel:0171 582 7746.
The Electrical Contractors Association (ECA), England and Wales,
Tel:0171 229 1266.
The Electrical Contractors Association of Scotland (ECAS),
Tel:0131 445 5577.
2. Power supply cable should be 1mm²x 3 core flex.
3. Power supply must be 220-240 V at 50 Hz.The Isolating switch
must be double pole switched 3 Amp fused with at least 3mm
contact separation gap to each pole.
4. Do not turn electrical supply on until all plumbing connections
have been madeand the shower unit has been commissioned as
it must not be operated dry.
5. A 30mA RCD (residual current device) is recommended.This may
be part of the consumer unit or a separate unit.

2. A ini u storage capacity of cold water of 230 litres (50
gallons) as the shower unit can deliver up to 13.5 litres/minute.
3. High level hot feed pipe routed upward to the same level as the
cold tank e.g.into loft space, should be avoided as air locks may
result.
4. Do not turn electrical supply on until all plumbing connections
have been made and the shower unit has been commissioned as
it must not be operated dry.
5. Do not solder supply pipework within 300mm of the shower unit
as heat transfer may damage plastic components.
6. Do not use compounds on the shower unit joints, they may cause
damage to the mechanism inside.
7. Do not insert fingers into the Push Fit connections.
8. The supply pipe ends ust be free fro burrs, which will
damage the Push fit seals.
9. If plated tubing is used for inlet pipework remove 25mm of plating
to ensure good seal.

Plumbing
1. The plumbing installation must comply with the requirements of
UK Water Regulations/Bylaws (Scotland), Building Regulations or
any particular regulations and practices, specified by the local
water company or water undertakers.The installation should be
carried out by a plumber or contractor who is registered, or is a
