Information concerning these operating instructions

Congratulations!

You have purchased a high-quality product. Familiarise yourself with the product

before assembly and before using it for the ﬁrst time. Please read the following

assembly and operating instructions and safety notices carefully. Use the product

only as described and for the range of applications speciﬁed. Retain these

instructions for future reference. Please also pass these operating instructions

on to any future owner(s).

Intended use

This appliance is intended exclusively for the weighing of food in private house-

holds. It is not intended for commercial or industrial applications. This appliance

may only be used when fully assembled.

The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage caused by failure to

observe these instructions, improper use, incompetent repairs, unauthorised

modiﬁcations or for the use of non-approved replacement parts.

► The screws and nuts are pre-mounted on delivery.

Safety guidelines

To ensure safe operation of the appliance, follow the safety guidelines set out

below:

WARNING – RISK OF INJURY!

■ Prior to use, check the appliance for visible external damage. Do not operate an

appliance which has been damaged or dropped.

■ People who, due to their physical, intellectual or motor abilities, are incapable of

operating the appliance safely may only use the appliance under the supervision

or direction of a responsible person.

■ Do not allow children to use the appliance unless they are being supervised.

■ Ensure that you do not put your ﬁngers between the bowl and the scale when

you are ﬁlling the bowl. Risk of crush injuries!

■ All repairs must be carried out by authorised specialist companies or by the

Customer Service department. Improper repairs can pose signiﬁcant risks to the

user. They will also invalidate any warranty claim.

CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE

■ Defective components must always be replaced with original replacement parts.

Compliance with safety requirements can only be guaranteed if original replace-

ment parts are used.

■ Do not allow any liquids or moisture to get into the appliance.

■ Do not place any objects on the scale when it is not in use.

■ Protect the appliance against knocks, dust, chemicals, extremes of temperature,

etc. and keep it away from sources of heat (ovens, radiators).

■ Do not press down on the weighing mechanism.

■ Do not press on the plastic cover of the weight display.

■ Do not expose the appliance to high temperatures.

■ Do not load the scale with more than 5 kg. The scale could be irreparably

damaged.

Preparation

Unpacking

1. Remove all parts of the scale and the operating instructions from the box.

2. Remove all packing material from the scale. Remove the cable ties and the

paper from below the weighing mechanism.

3. Clean the appliance as described in the section “Cleaning and Care”.

WARNING – RISK OF SUFFOCATION!

► Do not allow children to play with packaging materials. There is a risk of

suﬀocation.

Disposal of packaging materials

The packaging protects the appliance from damage during carriage. The pack-

aging materials have been selected for their environmental friendliness and ease

of disposal, and are therefore recyclable.

Returning the packaging to the materials cycle conserves raw materials and

reduces the amount of waste that is generated. Dispose of packaging materials

that are no longer needed in accordance with applicable local regulations.

NOTE

► If possible, keep the original packaging of the appliance during the warranty

period so that the appliance can be packed properly for returning in the

event of a warranty claim.

Installation

1. Place the scale on a ﬂat and stable surface.

2. Remove the two screws from the cradle using a spanner and a

screwdriver.

3. Place the cradle on the weighing mechanism so that the holes for the

screws are arranged one above the other and the bent arms of the

cradle are pointing upwards.

4. Push the screws through the holes in the cradle and screw the nuts 

onto them from below (see fold-out page).

5. Place the weighing bowl onto the cradle .

NOTE

► The appliance may only be used when fully assembled.

Weighing food

CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE!

► Do not load the scale with more than 5 kg. The scale could be irreparably

damaged.

1. If you have not done this already: place the weighing bowl on the

cradle .

2. Turn the zero setting wheel until the pointer points to zero.

3. Place the food in the weighing bowl .

The pointer shows the weight on the scale .

–Read the outer digits on the scale for the weight in kilograms/grams.

–Read the inner digits on the scale for the weight in pounds (lb)/

ounces (oz).

Cleaning and care

CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE!

Do not allow any liquids to get into the scale.

This could impair the functionality of the appliance.

Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

These could damage the upper surfaces of the appliance.

1. Wipe the scales with a damp cloth. For stubborn soiling use a mild detergent

on the cloth. Wipe oﬀ any detergent residue using a cloth moistened with

clean water only.

2. Remove the weighing bowl from the cradle and wash it in warm water

and a mild detergent. Afterwards, rinse it with plenty of clean water to

remove all detergent residues. Dry the weighing bowl thoroughly.

NOTE

► You can also wash the bowl in the dishwasher!

Storage

♦ Store the scales in a clean and dry location.

♦ Do not place any objects in the weighing bowl during storage.

Disposal of the appliance

Dispose of the appliance in an environmentally friendly manner.

Dispose of the appliance via an approved waste disposal company or your

municipal waste disposal facility. Please observe applicable regulations.

Please contact your waste disposal facility if you are in any doubt.

Warranty and service

You are provided a 3-year warranty on this appliance, valid from the date

of purchase. This appliance has been manufactured with care and inspected

meticulously prior to delivery. Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase.

In the event of a warranty claim, please contact your Customer Service unit by

telephone. This is the only way to guarantee free return of your merchandise.

NOTE

► The warranty only covers claims for material and manufacturing defects,

not for damage sustained during carriage, components subject to wear

and tear or damage to fragile components such as switches or batteries.

This product is intended solely for private use and not for commercial purposes.

The warranty shall be deemed void in the case of misuse or improper handling,

use of force or interventions which were not carried out by one of our authorised

Service centres. Your statutory rights are not restricted by this warranty.

The warranty period is not prolonged by repairs made under the warranty.

This also applies to replaced and repaired components. Any damage or defects

present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking,

but no later than two days after the date of purchase. Repairs carried out after

expiry of the warranty period shall be subject to charge.
