CHARGING THE RECORDER
Connect the included USB data cable to connect the voice recorder to the computer or power
adapter for charging. Please use a power adapter with a charging current of 1A or less for
charging, otherwise, it may damage the unit or cause danger. When the recorder is charging,
the recorder flashes a red light. When it is full, the light will turn blue.
CONNECTING THE Q1 RECORDER TO YOUR COMPUTER
The Dododuck Q1 recorder acts as a USB drive, in order to easily access the recordings from
your computer.
1. Turn off the recorder and connect it to your computer using the included data cable.
2. Click on the “RECORD” folder to access your recording files. It should be empty when
you access it for the first time.
SETTING UP THE CURRENT DATE/TIME ON THE RECORDER
In order to synchronize the date and time with your current time zone, please follow these steps:
1. Turn off the recorder and connect it to your computer using the included data cable.
2. Click on the “Time Synchronization Tool” folder and execute “time.exe” from a Windows
machine. If you do not have a Windows computer, please update the “date” and “timme”
parameters on the “factory.txt” file. Please see instructions below.
3. This program will synchronize the time from your computer with the time on the recorder
so that the recording files will have the correct date and time.
RECORDING FOR THE FIRST TIME
By default, the Dododuck Q1 is in normal recording mode. In order to start recording:
1. Unplug the cable from the recorder.
2. Move the switch to the power-on position to start recording. The light will turn red and
blink 5 times. Once you are finished, turn off the recorder and the files will be saved
automatically.
PLAYING RECORDINGS
It is recommended that you access the recordings by connecting the recorder to your computer.
Once you access the recording files, you can copy them to your favorite device or listen to them
directly from your computer.
It is also possible to listen to the recordings directly from the Dododuck Q1 on a limited basis.
Playing files from the recorder:
1. Connect the adapter and headphones.
2. Turn on the recorder.
3. The recordings will start playing sequentially from the most recent.
4. To skip to the next recording press the + key and to go to the previous recording press
the - key
5. To pause, click on the M button for 1 second until the light blinks, alternating from red to
blue
VOICE ACTIVATED RECORDING
1. To turn on voice activated recording, connect the adapter and click on pause (M button)
until the light blinks, alternating from red to blue. During pause mode, long press Mkey
for 3 seconds, The indicator light will flash blue lights several times quickly. Turn off the
recorder.
2. You will know that you are in voice activated mode when you turn on the Q1 recorder.
The light will blink blue 5 times.
NORMAL RECORDING
1. To turn off voice activated recording, connect the adapter and click on pause (M button)
until the light blinks, alternating from red to blue. During pause mode, long press Mkey
for 3 seconds, The indicator light will flash red lights several times quickly.
2. You will know that you are in normal recording mode when you turn on the Q1 recorder.
The light will blink red 5 times.
NOTE: During the recording process, do not connect to the computer, otherwise the recording
files may become corrupted.
Check the recording status: While recording, long-press + and hold it. A red light will flash once
to indicate that normal recording is on, and a blue light will flash once while recording in voice
activated mode.
ADVANCED PARAMETERS
You can customize your recorder settings by connecting the Q1 to your computer and accessing
the “factory.txt” file. Once you open the file you will find that you can change the following
parameters:
TYP: save recording files in WAV or mp3 formats.
VOR: Voice activated recording sensitivity. You can change this setting if your voice activated
function is being activated by small noises or in the contrary, your recordings show incomplete
recordings because voice activation was not triggered at the right time.
BIT Rate: This will determine the quality and size of the recording file.
GAIN: To configure the microphone sensitivity. If the recording is distorted, you should lower the
sensitivity. If your recordings are very low in volume, you should increase the sensitivity.
SECTION: Maximum recording file in minutes.
DATE and TIME parameters. They set up the correct date and time for your recorder. They are
usually changed via the time.exe app, however if you cannot execute this app because you
have a Mac, you can change them manually. Please make sure you update them with your
current date and time.
RESTORING FACTORY SETTINGS
The Q1 recorder acts like a mini computer in many ways. If for some reason, the recorder
becomes locked or frozen, you can reset it by connecting it to your Windows computer and
reformatting the recorder. After connecting to the computer, click My Computer, find the mobile
drive letter and right-click the mouse, select format, and then select quick format. In this way, the
factory settings can be restored and most of the problems will be eliminated. Please make sure
to back up your recordings and the time.exe app, because they will be deleted once you
reformat the recorder.
If you have no response after connecting to the computer via the data cable, try to connect to a
different computer. If you still cannot recognize it after trying, please contact the after-sales
service though Amazon, and we will help you solve the problem.

If for any reason, your device stops working properly, please contact us. In the event
that we are unable to resolve the issue, we replace the Dododuck 1 with a new device.
