Introduction
This guide supports the installation of a DB3, which is an all-in-one door lock and override interface module in Remote Start Ready (RSR)
mode. RSR is a function that enables the DB3 to remote start the vehicle completely on its own. Consequently, there is no need for an
aftermarket or an OEM remote starter in order to start the vehicle from a distance.
This solution may offer up to four (4) configuration options to control your system (all sold separately):
• 3x OEM Lock Remote Start Activation: if applicable, refer to the “Vehicle function compatibilities” section.
• SmartStart Pro Compatible: SmartStart Pro is equipped with D2D, which means it can be connected to an interface module and used
in RSR mode without the use of a remote starter. See “Module programming” for more information.
• Digital RF Kit Compatible: This firmware supports D2D 2.0, which means Digital RF kits can be connected to the interface module and
used when in RSR mode (compatible with firmware version ending with .101 or higher only).
• XL202 & Analog RF Kit

• This module can only be flashed and configured using DirectLink at www.directechs.com.
• RSR mode is not compatible with vehicles equipped with a manual transmission.

Firmware notes
Remote Start Ready (RSR):
•RSR installations are not compatible with vehicles equipped with a manual transmission.
•RSR is a function that enables the interface module to remote start the vehicle completely on its own
Consequently, there is no need for an aftermarket or an OEM remote starter in order to start the vehicle from a distance.
SmartStart Compatible: SmartStart is equipped with D2D, which means it can be connected to an interface module and used in
Remote Start Ready (RSR) mode without the use of a remote starter. See "Module programming" for more information.
Doors: To remote start the engine, the hood, hatch and all doors must be closed.
Runtime: It is normal for the key symbol to flash during remote start runtime.
Caution: In these vehicles, the factory keyless entry module is sensitive to interference and may cease to operate without notice.
Ensure you disconnect the (-) terminal of the battery prior to disconnecting and reconnecting the connectors at the start/stop module
below the steering wheel to avoid damage to the keyless entry module.
Unless specified otherwise, all connectors are displayed from the wire side.

Locating components in the vehicle
1. Grab parking light handle and pull in the direction of the arrow.
2. Push the clip to remove the parking light switch.
3. Remove the white cover to expose the connector.

1Ensure vehicle is in a safe location and cannot move forward during programming.

The harnesses must be connected in this exact order:
Connect the 14-pin.1.
Connect the 12-pin.2.
Connect the 10-pin.3.
When the LED turns on solid red, proceed with the next step.

Do not depress the Brake pedal.
Press the Push-To-Start (PTS) button twice (2x) to turn the ignition ON.
The LED flashes green.
4Wait for the bypass to program (it may flash for up to 30 seconds).
The LED will turn ON solid green for 3 seconds, then shuts OFF.
5Press the PTS button one time (1x) more to turn the ignition OFF.
You have successfully completed the module programming sequence.
