Validity
This document is valid for the module DIS-2/M UTP, DIS-2/M NSU uad DIS-2/M Multi-D HD. The descriptions in this document
are based on the software version 2.5.x.x.x.
Conventions
This document may contain various warning words and symbols that indicate potential sources of danger.
WARNING
WARNING indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death
or serious injury.
NOTICE
NOTICE indicates practices for preventing property damage, incorrect configurations
or faulty operations.
The following symbols and various character formats are used to increase the clearness of the document:
Instructions are indicated by arrows (Ø).
Expressions in bold/italics generally indicate a control element on the device (switches or labels) or on its user interface (but-
tons, menu entries).
Paragraphs in italics provide information on basic principles, special features and efficient procedure as well as general recom-
mendations.
Environmental Conditions
Unfavourable ambient conditions can shorten the life and cause malfunctions or damages. Do not operate the modules at
places with:
large scale dust and dirt
steam or oil vapours (e.g., kitchen)
unsuitable ambient temperatures
insufficient ventilation (e.g., closed cabinet)
direct sunlight
sources of strong heat dissipation (e.g., radiator)
sources of strong radiation (e.g., radio transmitter, magnetic field)
corrosive surrounding (e.g., gas, salt water)

Only use the unit if it is technically in proper working condition and for the intended purpose while keeping safety and potential
dangers in mind.
Qualified Personnel
The installation, mounting, connection, commissioning and configuration of the unit may only be carried out by qualified
personnel. This also applies to the maintenance, testing and repair, whereat the regulations of the DIN VDE 0701 series of
standards (repair, modification and inspection of electrical appliances) must be followed.
Regulations
The use of video and audio surveillance systems is, in general, strictly regulated. Inform yourself about the currently valid
laws and regulations regarding data, worker and environmental protection before using the unit and ensure compliance with
them.
System Components
Only use internal components that have been tested and approved by Dallmeier. Inappropriate internal components can
cause malfunctions, damages and data loss and can result in the loss of warranty.
RAID System
Devices that are configured with a RAID system for redundant recording always must be supplied with power via an uninter-
ruptable power supply (UPS). A sudden voltage drop can damage the RAID system.
Modifications
Do not make any modifications to the hardware or software that has not been tested and approved by Dallmeier. Inappropri-
ate modifications can cause malfunctions, damages and data loss and can result in the loss of warranty.
Documentation
Read the documents included in delivery carefully and thoroughly. Always observe the contained instructions, notes and
warnings.
Condensation Water
If the unit is brought from a cold to a warm environment, resulting condensation water can cause malfunctions and damages.
In this case, wait (up to 8 hours) until the unit has reached room temperature before commissioning.
Earthing & Equipotential Bonding
For the safety of persons (protection against dangerous contact voltages) and devices (protection against overvoltages) and
the immunity of information and communication technology equipment to electromagnetic interferences (EMI), all protec-
tive measures, which are specified by the currently valid DIN, VDE and ISO standards and which provide for a standard-com-
pliant earthing and a correct equipotential bonding of electrical and electronic devices, are mandatory and must be fulfilled
by all means.
Lightning Storms
To avoid damage to the unit by electrical surge during lightning storms, unplug the unit from the mains power supply (pull
out the power plug). This is also recommended, when the unit has been unused for a long period of time.
Operating Conditions
Unfavourable operating conditions can shorten the life of the unit and can cause malfunctions, damages and data loss and
can result in the loss of warranty. Observe the specifications given in the technical data, the operating condition requirements
and the maintenance instructions.
Shocks
Shocks can cause malfunctions and damages. The unit may not be moved while in operation.
Foreign Bodies
If objects or liquids get into the unit, immediately disconnect it from the power supply (pull out the power plug). Contact the
sales partner responsible for your area.
Burnt Smell
If you notice burnt smell or a formation of smoke coming from the unit, immediately disconnect it from the power supply
(pull out the power plug). Contact the sales partner responsible for your area.
Opening
The housing of the unit may only be opened by qualified personnel for commissioning, inspection, maintenance and repair.
Disposal
Do not dispose waste electrical and electronic equipment into the household trash. Disconnect the unit from the power sup-
ply. Remove all connected devices. Return the unit to your respective sales partner.

Installation Module
►Undo the four screws on the duct cover until they are
loose in their anchor points.
►Then remove the cover.
►Toinstallmodulesalwaysusethefirstemptyductfromthe
left-hand side of the module rack.
Before installing the modules check whether they are integrated in the network via DHCP or which IP addresses are available.
NOTICE
To prevent network conflicts the IP address or DHCP must be configured after you
install each module.
A free duct should be available for every module you have ordered.
►Remove the duct covers from the required ducts.
Start on the left-hand side of the module rack. The modules must later be installed in sequence from left to right.
WARNING
Do not reach into the open housing of the module rack. Do not insert any objects.
The module rack is already live. This means that there is a risk of electric shock.
NOTICE
Damage to components at risk from electrostatic discharge caused by touching them.
Ensure that you are electrostatically discharged (earthed) before you touch the mo-
dule.
Wear suitable ESD shoes or an earth strap.
►Insert the module into the guide rails (top and bottom).
►Carefully slide the module into the module rack.
►Ensure that you slide it straight. Do not use any force.
The module is inserted correctly when it has been fully slid in and
engaged.
►The front cover of the module must be flush with the
edge of the module rack housing.
The module will now already be powering up.

Installation Module
The Error LED will be lit before a video signal has not yet been connected. This does not have a negative effect on the following
steps, however.
Duct Covers
For continuous operation it is essential that all ducts on the modu-
le rack are closed. This is necessary to maintain air circulation and
therefore to cool the modules.
Close all the ducts that are still open after you have installed the
modules, using the duct covers provided for this purpose.
Ensure that the EMC seal on the duct cover is on the right-hand
side.
►Secure the modle in the module rack using the four
screws on the front cover.
►Connect the module to the PC you wish to use to confi-
cure it via the LAN.
A correct connection has been made if the orange LED on the LAN
interface is permanently lit.
►Configure the IP address or DHCP as described in the
Configuration documentation.
►Then install the next module as described above.
The module and PC or laptop can also be connected direct using a cross cable.
If you do not have enough duct covers available, contact the Dallmeier support.
NOTICE
Open ducts on the module rack can result in serious damage to the modules in conti-
nuous operation (particularly a hard disk drive failure).
Commissioning
WARNING
Danger of death from electric shock in the event of a lightning strike!
Data transfer and video cables must not be connected or disconnected during a storm.
After the mounting in the ready for use module rack the module starts automatically. The power LED flashs.
► Connect the camera to the module.
► Connect the module to the network.
The module can be configured via the network after approx. 45 seconds.

The configuration is done through the graphical user interface in a browser.
System Requirements

Login
►Proceed as follows to sign up:
The default ip address is “10.2.6.98”, the default password is “3”.
►Start the browser.
►Enter the required ip address.
The login dialogue is displayed.
►Make the required settings (see Configuration documentation).
►Enter the password.
►Click the OK button.
After successful login, the graphical user interface is displayed in the initial state.
