followed in order to reduce therisk of fire, electric shock and personal injury. Readall
theinstructions before using theproduct and savethem.
1. Keep theworking areaclean!
Cluttered surfaces and tables invite accidents.
2. Think about theworking environment.
Do not expose thetool torain. Donot use tools in damp or wetareas. Makesure

When themachinery is not being used, keep it in adry locked area out of reach to
children.
6. Do not overload themachinery.
Your work will be better and safer used at theintended feeding velocity.
7. Use thecorrecttool.
Do not push small tools to do big jobs which demand more powerfultools. Donot
push atool or attachment to perform anoperation it is not designed for; for
example, do not use acircular saw to cuttreebranches or timber.

• That no defect has emerged.
• Other circumstances that may affect your work performance.
• Acover or some other part that is damaged should be repaired by thepanel
or exchanged. Damagedelectrical cables and circuit breakers should always
be changed by professionals. Neverusethemachine if you are unable to turn
it off or start it up in asatisfactory manner.

Special safety regulations for planes
• Never use machine without correctly mounted and adjusted protective covers.
• Never use blunt planing irons as this increases risk of kickback.
• Theparts of thecutting steel not in use should be covered.
• When planing shorter pieces apusher should beused.
• When planing narrow pieces further precautions need to be taken to insure safe
work, such as appliances for pushing thework piece from above and springloaded
protection.
• Planes may not be used for folding, milling, making marks orpegs.
Safety symbols
Use ear protection.
Use protective glasses orvisor.
Use breathing protection.
Read through theentire manual before use and save for future reference.

Use
To consider before planing
Always check prior to planing that theplaning irons aresharp!
Direction of the grain
Always feed timber so that theplane moves in thesame direction as thewoodgrain.
Ifyou plane against thegrain thesurface may not be smooth.
Twigs and other unevenness
Wood with twigs and “wild” fibres are often difficult to create asmooth surface
upon and require extracare. Checkthat thetwigs aresolid. Donot plane wood
with loosetwigs. Planethinly. Keepanextra eye out for kickback and stop planing
immediately if thewood is not feeding evenly.
Snipe
If you do not hold theend of thewood when feeding in and out, and theend is bent
by its own weight, theplaning irons may plane alittle harder causing adent or hack or
hollowing-out of theend. Holdthewood flat against thetable when planing to avoid
hacks and where necessary use support rollers and/or support tables both when
feeding and drawing out thewood. Ifhacks can not be avoided, use longer work
pieces than normal and saw after planing.
Marks following planing
If theplaning irons are damaged or in poor condition, long marks may build up along
theboard after planing. Re-plane or replace bothirons.
Warning! Alwaysinspect thewood before planingit. Neverattempt to plane second-
hand wood with nails in, painted or varnished wood, wood with old glue on, plywood,
hardboard or chipboard. Planingthis material will damage theplaning irons and lead to
serious injury!
