Safety
The risk of fire and explosion
• Liquids and solvents can be highly flammable and explosive.
• Use all chemicals in a well-ventilated room suited for the purpose.
• Avoid any possibility of igniting fumes, such as smoking, naked flames,
sparks and static electricity.
• Never use solvents containing Halogenated hydrocarbons (1-1-1-methyl
trichloride, ethyl chloride, etc.) which can react with certain materials in
the spray and cause an explosion. Make sure that all lacquering products
and solvents used are compatible by comparing them with the technical
specifications.
• To reduce the risk of static electeicity, make sure that both the lacquering
equipment and the object to be lacquered are earthed.
Dangers of misuse
• Never point the spray gun towards people or animals.
• Never exceed the maximum rated working pressure.
• Always disconnect the air hose and empty the paint cup before
disassembling, cleaning and service.

Health hazards
• Toxic fumes can be produced from working with the spray gun that could
be hazardous to your health.
• Only use the spray gun in a well-ventilated area.
• Always use suitable safety goggles, gloves, breathing masks, etc.
to prevent paint, solvents and poisonous fumes from coming into
contact with eyes and skin.
• The sound level stated in the specifications is measured from 1 m behind
the nozzle of the gun and at a height of 1.6 m above ground level.
Other dangers
• Never spray food or chemicals with the spray gun.
• Never modify the spray gun.
Installation
The spray gun must only be used by a trained operator. Make sure that
the spray gun has not been damaged in transit. Make sure that the spray gun
air supply is clean and dry.
1. Connect an air hose to the spray gun and check that the connection is tight.
2. Attach the paint cup to the spray gun.
3. Flush out the gun’s fluid passage using a suitable solvent.
4. Fill the cup with paint, test spray and adjust the paint feed and fan width
accordingly.

CORRECT INCORRECT
Product description
The spray gun is normally used for tasks on small areas and is a precision
instrument. In order to make full use of the spray gun one has to be aware
of how it is put together, used and cared for. With the right care and
maintenance it will produce perfect results for a very long time.
Operation
Look at both the pictures: “CORRECT” and “INCORRECT”.
The first condition for achieving good results is that one handles the spray
gun correctly, i.e. do as in the picture “CORRECT”. Hold the spray gun at right
angles to the surface to be painted and move the gun parallel to it.
Begin the sweep before pulling the trigger and release the trigger whilst still
moving the gun. That way, one will have control over both the spray gun
and work area.
The distance from the nozzle to the work surface should be between 15 and
25 cm, depending on the type of paint and the air pressure. The coat of paint
should be even and wet (shiny). Overlap the previous sweep to ensure an
absolutely even finish.
N.B. To reduce unnecessary paint consumption and for best results,
one should try to use as low an air pressure as possible without sacrificing
quality of finish.

Controlling the spray pattern and paint feed
Adjusting the spray pattern
Turn to the right for circles, to the left for lines.
Paint feed screw
Turn to the right to reduce the flow, to the left to increase the flow.
1. If you widen the spray pattern you will need to increase the flow of paint
to cover the increased area.
2. Horizontal and vertical lines can be regulated by setting the air nozzle and
fixing it in place using the locking ring.

7
English
In normal mode the “wings” on the nozzle are horizontal – as shown in
the picture on the left. That way one will get a spray pattern in the shape of
a vertical line, which will give the best coverage when one sweeps of
the work area.
Spray painting with a paint cup
Set the air pressure to 2–4 bar. Test spray. If the spray is too thin:
reduce the pressure or open the screw and let in more paint.
If the paint distribution is too bad, reduce the amount of paint.
Adjust the width of the spray pattern and adjust the paint distribution as required.
N.B. To reduce unnecessary paint consumption and for best results,
one should try to use as low an air pressure as possible.

Paint patterns – errors, causes, and remedies
A faulty spray pattern is usually due to insufficient cleaning or dried paint
around the end of the nozzle or even in the nozzle itself. Lower these parts
into a solvent (paint thinner) to dissolve the dried paint and then remove it
with a brush or cloth.
Spray
pattern
Cause Remedy
Dried paint on wing A
reduces the
air flow.
Stronger air flow
on wing B results
in more paint
on blocked side.
Dissolve the paint on
the wings using thinners
and blow dry the gun.
Do not poke
metal objects into
the nozzle jets.
Dried paint around
the nozzle jet C produces
an uneven
spray pattern,
as shown
on the left.
The same
pattern is
produced by
a loose air nozzle.
Unscrew the air nozzle
and wipe the paint nozzle
with a cloth soaked
in thinners.
Screw the air nozzle
back on.
“Two fried eggs”,
or a split pattern is usually
the result of:
1. Too high air pressure.
2. Too wide spray pattern
or too thin paint flow.
1. Reduce the air
pressure.
2. Turn the paint flow
adjuster to the left
and the spray pattern
adjuster to the right.
The width reduces
but the spray pattern
will be correct.

1. Dried gasket round

supply.
2. Intermittent spray
pattern caused by
dirt in the valve or
loose nozzle.
1. Undo the knurled nut E and
apply two drops of machine
oil to the packing. Tighten
the nut by hand.
2. Remove the paint nozzle
and clean the seat with
a thinner-soaked cloth,
replace and tighten
the nozzle again.
Care and maintenance
Never clean the paint or air nozzles with metal tools. These parts are precision
made and the slightest scratch can cause faulty spray patterns. If either of
them is damaged it needs to be replaced before a correct spray pattern can
be achieved.
1. Lower only the front part of the spray gun into the solvent (paint thinner),
until the paint connector is just covered. If the entire spray gun is lowered
into the solvent, there is a risk that the oil lubricating the moving parts
will also dissolve, causing them to wear out sooner and resulting in
heavier maneuvering. Moreover, solvent residue could clog the narrow air
channels inside the gun.
2. Use an appropriate brush and solvent to dislodge any dried paint.
3. Dry the outside of the spray gun with a cloth moistened with solvent.
4. Lubricate the paint needle packing regularly.
N.B. Never use lubricants that contain silicone.
This can lead to defects in the finish.
Caution: When first assembling the spray gun, do it by hand. That way you
minimise the chance of cross-threading. If you can’t screw the parts together
by hand: make sure that you have the right parts, unscrew them and try again.
Never use force when screwing parts together.

Air nozzle, paint nozzle and needle system
1. Immerse all nozzles in solvent to dissolve any leftover paint.
Blow them clean using the air hose.
2. Do not poke any of the holes with metal objects. If really have to
poke in one of the holes, use a material that is softer than brass.
