1 GENERAL INFORMATION
The S700 taximeter may contain an internal Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR module.
This module only supports a SPP profile used to establish a serial
communication channel with the meter. If you are not sure whether or not
your device supports the SPP profile, please, contact the manufacturer of
that device.
The COM channel used for Bluetooth communications is the same one
that is available via the plug on the adapter bracket. In order to facilitate
meter programming, configuration, and other tasks the meter
automatically routes communications as follows:
- By default all communications will be via the wired plug on the adapter bracket
unless all of the following conditions apply:
oA BTM is installed in the meter.
oThe meter has been configured to enable Bluetooth communications
oA device has been paired with the BTM and has established an active SPP
connection.
- If all of the above conditions apply then the meter automatically routes
communications through the BTM.
2 THE BLUETOOTH MENU
! !
In an S700 with internal Bluetooth installed you may access menu 9 in
order to control certain Bluetooth functions. (For a description of the menu
system and how it works on the S700 please refer to the S700 User
Guide). To access menu 9 perform the following steps.
a. Make sure that the meter is in VACANT.
b. Push button 4
c. Push 3 two times, the rate display will be blinking with a “9”
d. Push button 6 to enter the Bluetooth menu.
The Bluetooth menu has 3 available items. They are described below:
2.1 Status
BT menu item 1 is the Bluetooth status. This item indicates the current
status of the S700 internal Bluetooth module (BTM) by displaying the
states of the following items in the FARE window:
•BTM!presence!(“b1”!=!installed;!“b0”!=!not!installed)!
•BTM!powered!(“P1”!=!powered;!“P0”!=!not!powered)!

2.2 Pairing
Item 2 of the BT menu is for pairing. The pairing of the BTM with another device
is accomplished by entering the pairing item of the BT Menu. In order to pair a
device with the meter the procedure is as follows:

Note that the above description does not include any steps necessary on the
other BT device in order to accomplish the pairing. Depending on the OS of the
other device the sequence and timing of the steps above may be important in
order to accomplish the pairing. (See the Appendix for pairing in Windows 7)
2.3 COM Channel
!
Item 3 of the BT menu displays the current COM channel configuration. An “SP”
indicates that the meter is communicating via the wired plug on the adapter
bracket, while a “BL” indicates that the meter is communicating via the BTM.
This item also allows the user to force the connection to the wired connector on
the adapter bracket. This is useful when the user wants to temporarily connect
the meter to a wired device while not severing the BT connection. To make a
change, press button 6. Each time button 6 is pressed the displayed item is
toggled between “SP” and “BL”. If the password option is enabled on the meter
the correct password must be entered prior to toggling the connection.
!
3 APPENDIX – WINDOWS 7
!
Due to some quirks in the Windows 7 Bluetooth implementation there may be
some difficulty pairing with the meter. We have found the following sequence to
be successful in pairing with a Windows 7 PC.
a. In Windows select Bluetooth from the system tray.
b. In the Bluetooth Devices window select “Add a Device”
c. In the popup window find the device “Centrodyne-000000” where
the last five digits are the serial number of the meter. On the meter
go to the BT menu and enter item 2 so that the fare display shows
“000000”. Now select the device in Windows and press Next.
d. The pairing code should display on the meter and in Windows. First

press Next in Windows and then after a brief pause press button 6
