the

film

have a white leaderand

the

leader have a curl

toward

the

center

of

the

reel. In

the

cases where

the

film

does

not

have

the

proper

curl,

take

the

first

few inches

of

leader

and curl

it

towards

center

of

the

reel as illustrated.

To automatically

thread

your

projector,

first

put

control

switch in

"MOTOR"

position and

the

Direction Lever

to

"FORWARD" position. Then

move

Film

Threading

Lever

down (as illustrated), and feed

the

end

of

the

film

leader

between

the

two metal

guide

rollers until

the

projector

pulls

film

from

the

front

reel. Allow

about

six inches

of

the

film

leader

to

enter

the

projector,

After

your

movie is completed, all

of

your

film

will be on

the

take-up reel except

for

about

the

last

foot

or

so, which will remain in

the

projector.

To remove

this

last

amount

of

film

from

the

pro-

jector,

just

manually

turn

the

take-up reel with

your

hand, with

finger

on

film,

or

raise

the

reel

to

the rewind position and pull

out

the

film.

You will

find

this

very easy

to

do, and

this

safeguard has

been designed

to

prevent

the

end

of

your

film

from

flapping

against

the

projector

after

your

movie is completed.

Then

move

the

Direction

Lever

down

to

the

"Re-

verse"

position, press down

and hold

the

Rewind Lever

on

top

of

the

Front Reel

Arm

(8).

When

the

film

is

completely rewound, move

the

Direction Lever

to

the

Center position, and

the

Control Switch

to

the

'.'OFF"

position.

Lift

uprewind lever

to

disengage rewind mecha-

nism.

Remove

the

reels

from

the

Front

and

Rear

arms,

and

fold

the

arms

down

to

their

original posi-

tion. Replace take-up reel

on

hub

inside case cover

and rewind

the

power cord

back

onto

the

holders in

the

Cord Storage

Compartment.

Replace

the

case cover by

aligning

it

with

the

projector

and

snapping

it

into

place.

Note:

When all

the

film

is on

the

take-upreel, place

the

Direc-

tion Lever in

the

"Center"

position

and

the

Control

Switch

to

"Motor"

position.

The Rear Reel

Arm

must

be

in

the

"Rewind"

Feed

the

film

from

bot-

tom

of

the

take-up reel di-

rectly

bottom

Front Reel (A). Place

end

a slight wobble

is "floating

power"

action-a

new

concept

in

film

transport

that

has been

designed

the

projector,

is a

normal

function

take-up

reel.

"floating

power"

action

gives all

of

your

movies

the

ultimate

in

prot

ection,

safety,

and

perform-

ance

every

time

you

project

them.

show

If

for

some reason

your

film

stops

during

your

show,

first

try

this

simple remedy.

Turn

off

the

projector

lamp

and

open

the

Lower Film Guide

by

pulling

it

outward and

away

from

the

projector.

Then grasp

the

film

now ac-

cessible with

the

Lower Film

Guideopen, and pull

it

slowly

outward. (See

picture

1).

This procedurewill probably

restart

the

normal flow

of

your

film.

If

it

doesn't,

move

the

Direction Lever

to

the

"Center"

position, open

the

film

. gate, and rotate

the

take-up reel with

your

finger

on

the

film,

to

pass

the

bad

section

of

film

through

the

film

channel.(Seepicture2).

Then close

the

film

gate,

turn

the

Single Frame Ad-

vance Knob

to

check

for

proper

threading, and pro-

ceedtooperatethe

projector

in

the

normal

manner.

When

your

show is over, check

your

film

for

the

damage

or

splice

that

stoppage.

Your

factory

so

that

you need

not

oil it.

However,

there

are cleaning

steps you should

perform

that

will assure you

of

the

superior

performance

you

expect

from

your

Bell

&

Howell projector.

APERTURE

AND

FILM

CHANNEL

CLEANING

APERTURE

AND

FILM

CHANNEL

The

film

channel

and

aperture

must

be

brushed

clean

after

each show.

It

is

strongly

recommended

that

you use a

very

soft

camel

hair

brush

for

this

clean-

ing

area.

Just

gently

brush

up

and down to remove any

dust

or

dirt

particles

that

may

be in

this

area. NOTE: Never use a

hard

or

metal

instrument

to

clean

the

aperture

and

film

channel area.

Do

not

attempt

to

clean

the

aperture

opening

by

passing

the

brush

through

it.

CLEAN

I

NG

THE

LENS

Pull

the

Focus Knob

outward

and pull

out

the

lens. Wipe

off

the

lens surface

with a

soft

cloth

or

sheet

of

lens tissue

moistened

with a few

drops

of

good lens

cleaner, such as used

for

eye glasses. Be

sure

to

clean both

ends

of

the

lens.

Be sure

to

engage

the

Focus Control

Pi

,n in

the

lens groove when replacing lens.

GENERAL

It

is also a good

practice

to clean

your

film

regularly with a

film

cleaning

kit

available

from

your

photographic

dealer. In

addition

to

your

cleaning pro-

cedures, we

recommend

your

projector be

adjusted

and checked periodically

by

the

Bell & Howell factory, a branch office,

or

by one

of

our

Bell & Howell

approved service stations.

lubrication

Occasionally, a

film

may

not

be lubricated by

the

processor. This

unlubricated

film

can cause

unsteady

pictures.

If

this

occurs,

lubricate

the

film

with prepa-

rations

made

for

this

purpose, such as

"Kodak

Movie Film Cleaner, with

Lubricant."

To increase

the

life

of

your

films

and

to

assure good projection,

your

films

should be

lubricated

when

they

are new and before

they

are projected.

burns

out

during

a show, move

by

rotating

lamp

until

informed

what

they

shooting

movies. Road signs,

writing

in

the

sand,

simply

writing

on a card with crayon are

a few ways

to

make

titles. For professional look-

ing

titles, ask

your

Bell & Howell

dealer

to

show you

a

titling

kit

that

can be used with

your

camera.

While

you're

setting

up, use a

soft

cloth and a

drop

of

a good lens cleaner

to

wipe

off

any

dust

or

dirt

which

might

have

accumulated

on

the

lens. This

will give you

illumination
