1 Safety Warnings
• Before using your Contact Grill
for the first time slightly grease the
hot-plates with a cotton cloth and
heat for10 minutes at level III of the
thermostat. A slight odour at this
time is normal.
• Before heating the Contact Grill,
decide which side of the hot-plates
you will use and ensure that they are
properly in their place. Never change
the plates while the grill is hot.
• When you want to lift the grill, first
remove the locking strip from its
housing underneath the handle and
fix it to its place in the lower section.
The locking strip holds the upper and
lower sections.
• Do not use hard objects, abrasive
materials or chemicals to clean the
cooking plates in order to avoid
any damage to PTFE coatings.
Never wash the cooking plates in
dishwasher.
• Unplug the grill during cleaning
and while removing or replacing the
hot-plates.
• Never place the apparatus in
water.
• Since the thermostat measures the
temperature from the bottom plate,
place food on this plate first when in
barbecue mode. Use the other plate
when there is no empty space left.
• When you are heating, keep the
contact grill closed. When cooling
leave it open.
• This appliance is not intended for
use by persons (including children)
with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of

You may use your Contact Grill for
multi-functional cooking by inter-
changing the hot-plate positions and
sides and adjusting the thermostat.
Closed cooking position:
In this position the food is placed
between the top and bottom hot-
plates.
As both surfaces simultaneously
come into contact with the food,
the cooking time is considerably
shortened. In this position food can
be grilled, toasted, barbecued, etc.
The upper cooking section is heavy
enough for contact and does not
need to be pressed down. If the food
in between the plates is pressed
down the taste may be affected.
Parallel cooking position:
1
2
• After lifting the top section by its
handle into an upright position, lift up
slightly (1) then bring down forward
(2).
• In this position the hot-plates are
parallel to one another with space
in between. The cooking tray can
be used to prepare stews, gratins,
macaroni
and cheese, cheese panés, toasted
bread, etc.
• This mode can also be used to
defrost frozen food at level I of the
thermostat.
When required, the frozen food may
be wrapped in aluminum foil first.
• When you wish to open the top
section
in the parellel position, lift upwards
by the handle, holding the plastic
surface where the thermostat button
is located with your other hand.
Barbecue position:
Lift the top cooking section slightly
upwards while it is in upright posi-
tion.
3 Cooking Positions and Levels

5
Hold the handle with one hand and
with the other lift up the hinge as
shown in the picture; bring the top
cooking section into a horizontal
position.
In this position the top and bottom
cooking sections will both be ava-
liable in horizontal position next to
each other.
In this position, both hot-plates are
open, thus providing more space
on the surface. Grilled food such as
steaks, chops, hamburgers as well
as various pancakes, eggs, cheese
panés, etc. can all be prepared in a
very short time. If desired, various
cooking pots can be placed on the
surface to be heated up or kept
warm. Remember when using this
cooking mode that the thermostat
measures the temperature from the
bottom hot-plate. The food to be
cooked should first be placed on
the bottom cooking section; after
there is no space left the top section
should be used.
Cooking Circles
In the parellel and barbecue modes,
cooking circles can be used on the
flat surfaces of the plates to cook
eggs, omelettes or other similar
mixtures.
For example, a little flour and
ingredients such as mushrooms,
cheese, or a variety can be added
to the eggs, mixed and then cooked
in the circles to prepare delicious
meals.
Slightly grease the cooking rings
before using them.

6
Interchanging the hot-plate
sides:
The hot-plates of your Contact Grill
has been designed to enable the use
of both sides. The grill side is mostly
used for grilling and toasting, while
the flat side can be used for all pur-
poses. (Eg. for making pancakes.)
According to the type of food, the
grill side of one hot-plate and the flat
side of the other may be used at the
same time. For example, food can
be grilled in the barbecue mode on
the grill side of one plate, while at the
same time the circles may be used
on the flat side of other plate.
In order to remove the hot-plates or
to change sides, pull forward the loc-
king hook on the front and remove
the dislocated hot-plate.
In order to put the hot-plates back
in, first place down the plate’s inner
edge then press down and lock the
front side to the locking hook.
The changing process of the plates
must be carried out while the grill is
cold.
Thermostat levels:
The cooking temperatures of your
Contact Grill is controlled via a ther-
mostat knob located on the front of
the bottom cooking section.
I
II
III
I - Warm: Mostly used for heating
food or defrosting frozen foods.
II - Hot: Used for preparing panca-
kes, sausages,chicken, liver, etc.
III - Very hot: Recommended for
red meat, fish, toasts, etc.
These recommendations may vary
according to the thickness and
quantity of the food, the desired
cooking temperature and whether
the food is frozen or not.

7
First, check that the sides of the
hot-plates you are going to use are
facing the right way and that they
are properly positioned. When using
for the first time or after washing,
slightly grease the cooking surfaces
of the plates using a paper towel or a
cotton cloth.
• While the grill is in the off position
plug the grill into the electrical outlet.
You may turn on the on/off switch
after adjusting the thermostat button
to your desired setting. The contact
grill will start to warm and the pilot
light on the switch will turn on. When
the temperature reaches the desired
level the light will turn off. When us-
ing for the first time, a slight odour is
normal while the grill is warming.
• Your contact grill is now ready
and you may begin to cook at your
desired setting. As the heaters
automatically turn on during cooking
the thermostat pilot light will switch
on again.
• If you wish to store away the con-
tact grill after cooking, carry out the
necessary cleaning process then pull
down the locking strip underneath
the handle and place in its position in
the bottom cooking section.
The toaster grill is then safe to
handle.

5 Cleaning and Maintenance
• Unplug the appliance at the end
of cooking, leave the upper cooking
plate open and let the appliance cool
down.
• Remove the cooking plates after
they cool down.
• Wash the cooking plates by hand
in order to avoid any damage to
them. Never wash in the dishwasher.
• Keep the cooking plates that you
have removed in warm water for
about 5 minutes and then clean the
food remnants on their surfaces with
a soft sponge. Do not use any hard
objects or abrasive chemicals for
cleaning.
• You can use the dedicated clean--
ing comb to clean the cooking
plates. Do not push the cleaning
comb in a way to scratch the cook-
ing plates and do not use it on hot
surfaces.
• Tiny scratches that may occur on
the surfaces can cause the food to
stick. In such cases try to remove
the stuck food remnant by applying a
few drops of oil.
• Do not clean the outer surfaces
of your appliances with pointed and
hard cleaning objects.
