Solutions for better hearing

Intended use of hearing aids

audifon hearing aids are used to compensate for impaired

hearing of the wearer. They require individual adjustment of

their ampliﬁcation setting by the hearing care professional.

The devices function by intercepting airborne sounds,

performing digital signal processing and reproducing the

ampliﬁed sound.

CROS/BiCROS hearing systems are used in particular when one

ear is not directly aidable for audiological/medical reasons.

With the CE mark audifon GmbH & Co. KG conﬁrms that the

products speciﬁed in these operating instructions satisfy the

requirements of the Medical Device Directive 93/42/EC and the

R&T TE Directive 2014/53/EC on radio and telecommunication

terminal equipment.

In-The-Ear devices meet the above provisions although they do

not bear a CE mark.

The declaration of conformity can be consulted at the premises

of audifon GmbH & Co. KG, Werner-von-Siemens-Straße 2, 99625

Kölleda, Germany.

 Introduction

Congratulations on the purchase of your new audifon hearing

aids. Your hearing care professional has adjusted the hearing

aids to your individual requirements. These instructions are

therefore intended to help you use your audifon hearing aids

properly.

Please read through the following operating and care

instructions carefully to avoid malfunctions and faults.

If you follow these instructions, your hearing aids will prove

an invaluable help in your day-to-day communication with

your surroundings and other people.

The speciﬁc model of your hearing aids is shown on the sticker

on the packaging, on the warranty card or printed on the

hearing aids themselves.

If you have any further questions, please contact your hearing

care professional.

Keep batteries, hearing aids and tinnitus retraining

instruments away from children and pets. There is a risk

of swallowing! If a battery is swallowed, consult a doctor

immediately.*

If any unexpected side eects should occur from using your

devices (e.g. skin irritation, increased build-up of earwax),

consult your doctor or hearing care professional.

In very rare cases the dome may remain in the ear canal on

removal. Should this occur, consult a doctor immediately.

Do not use hearing aids or tinnitus retraining instruments

in environments in which there is a risk of explosion (e.g. in

mines or industrial installations with a risk of explosion).

Hearing aids are adjusted to the individual hearing loss

of each wearer and should therefore only be used by this

person. If the hearing aid or tinnitus retraining instrument is

worn by someone else, this may damage the hearing.

Tinnitus retraining instruments should only be used

on the recommendation of your doctor or hearing care

professional.

Remove hearing aids whenever you go for a CT or MRI scan

or other magnetic ﬁeld-based examination.

Devices with the Auto T-Coil/Auto Phone function include

a magnet. Please therefore observe the following safety

instructions:



Keep magnets away from children. If a magnet is

swallowed, contact a doctor immediately.



Magnets can cause malfunctions in life-support

equipment (e.g. pacemakers, magnetic valves etc.).

Only use magnets if you are sure of the safety distances.

The safety distance between a pacemaker and a magnet

should be at least 10 cm.



Magnets pose a risk when they are placed close to

magnetic storage media. Please therefore keep magnets

away from computers, colour monitors, television sets,

computer disks, video cassettes, audio cassettes and

electronic devices.

Hearing aids and tinnitus retraining instruments are susceptible

to impact. Therefore avoid any heavy knocks (e.g. by dropping

the device).

To prevent damage to your devices, please do not wear them in

the following situations:

when swimming, in the shower, in the bath

when washing or blow-drying your hair

when using hair spray

during high-frequency heat therapy treatment

during X-rays

when exposed to heat

when exposed to electromagnetic radiation (e.g. microwave)

. Notes on product safety

Do not force the battery into the battery compartment. If it

does not ﬁt, check whether you are inserting it correctly and

that it is the correct type of battery.

If you are not going to use your devices for a long period, remove

the battery to increase its life expectancy, to avoid leakage and

to prevent corrosion on the battery contacts.

When not in use, store your devices in the case provided.

Arrange for your devices to be checked regularly by a hearing

care professional.

Low battery warning

An audible signal indicates the end of the battery life (approx.

30 minutes before the battery runs out).

Transmitters and receivers dier here in terms of their tone

sequence. Your hearing care professional will be pleased to

demonstrate the dierent tone sequences.

We recommend you use audifon zinc air batteries. Please follow

the instructions on the battery packaging. Please dispose of

used batteries in the appropriate containers at your health care

professional’s premises. Always switch your hearing aid o after

use. Remove the battery if your hearing aid is out of use for long

periods.
