1.4 Intended use
The access manager in a wall-mounted housing is used to transmit recorded data from the readers to the
access control system and to control doors.
Any other use is not in accordance with the intended purpose and therefore not permitted. Modifications
to the device are not permitted.
1.5 Safety
WARNING
Danger to life due to electric shock
People can be seriously hurt or killed through physical contact with live parts (e.g. 230V~).
uMake sure that you cannot touch live lines during installation.
uSwitch off the power supply of the devices.
uPlease observe the applicable safety regulations and take all precautionary measures to ensure safe
installation.
NOTICE
Property damage due to transient overvoltages
Transient overvoltages (surges, bursts) in the energy supply network can lead to malfunctions and
failures.
uUse suitable mains filters that are professionally installed and operated.
NOTICE
Damage due to electrostatic discharge (ESD)
Electrical components and modules can be damaged by only slight, hardly noticeable electrostatic
discharge (ESD) without this becoming immediately obvious. ESD damages result in malfunctions and
even failure of the product.
uMake sure that effective protective measures against electrostatic discharge are in place when
working on the open device.

cables longer than specified in the table. Wire the +5 V and GND lines with two cores each for a cable
length > 50 m.
2 System overview
The IF-4076-0 access manager includes the following functions:

2 System overview
© 2021 Interflex Datensysteme GmbH IF-4076-0 Access Manager 6
nOperation in conjunction with a host system for access control or time recording (e.g., IF-6020 or
IF-6040)
nConnection and control of up to 16 slave terminals via I/O controller boards
nRecording of bookings (IN, OUT, absences, access)
nAccess control including door control and monitoring
nStorage of data required for offline operation, e.g. credential numbers, temporal and local permissions
In offline mode, the access manager takes over the functions of the host system. It checks and
acknowledges booking permissions during identification procedures at slave terminals.
2.1 Access manager overview
Electronic assembly units
The I/O controller boards are included in scope of delivery of the slave terminals.
The cables on bus 1 of the IF-4070 controller are fed through a split ferrite (not shown in the
figure).
